05.07.2011 - 12:57 | logicsniperRandom fact: 'French fries' are neither French nor American in origin; they actually originate in Belgium. :P
"The Belgian journalist Jo Gérard recounts that potatoes were fried in 1680 in the Spanish Netherlands, in the area of "the Meuse valley between Dinant and Liège. The poor inhabitants of this region allegedly had the custom of accompanying their meals with small fried fish, but when the river was frozen and they were unable to fish, they cut potatoes lengthwise and fried them in oil to accompany their meals."[11][12]
Many Belgians[who?] believe that the term "French" was introduced when American soldiers arrived in Belgium during World War I, and consequently tasted Belgian fries.[citation needed] They supposedly called them "French", as it was the official language of the Belgian Army at that time. At this time French fries were growing popular.
"Les frites" (French) or "Frieten" (Dutch) became the national snack and a substantial part of several national dishes."

p.s Since fries are chips over here - I'll add that what you call chips [crisps here] originated in Ireland. The Irish company Tayto [still around, and only available in Ireland] were the first ever crisp/ chip company.
"The potato chip remained otherwise unseasoned until an innovation by Joe "Spud" Murphy (1923–2001),[10] the owner of an Irish crisp company called Tayto, who developed a technology to add seasoning during manufacture in the 1950s. Though he had a small company, consisting almost entirely of his immediate family who prepared the crisps, the owner had long proved himself to be an innovator. After some trial and error, Murphy and his employee, Seamus Burke,[11] produced the world's first seasoned crisps, Cheese & Onion and Salt & Vinegar.
The innovation became an overnight sensation in the food industry, with the heads of some of the biggest potato chip companies in the United States traveling to the small Tayto company, in Ireland to examine the product and to negotiate the rights to use the new technology. Companies worldwide sought to buy the rights to Tayto's technique. The sale of the Tayto company made the owner and the small family group, who had changed the face of potato chip manufacturing, very wealthy.

The Tayto's innovation changed the entire nature of the potato chip, and led to the end of Smith's twist of salt. (Walkers revived the idea of "salt in a bag", following their takeover of Smith's (UK) in 1979, with their Salt 'n' Shake potato crisps.[12]) Later chip manufacturers added natural and artificial seasonings to potato chips, with varying degrees of success. A product that had had a large appeal to a limited market on the basis of one seasoning now had a degree of market penetration through vas...

Come on, all of that was just because of the bread thing with Lindsay's friend? Ok, that was gross of him but was all this bullying really necessary?
And cut out this american shit! "Benzaie has some things to say about america and we have some things to say about him" oh, fuck you all! this was lame.

Lol I totally thought it was gonna be like spooning with spoony, but then I realize that when spoony has his way with people it's funny. For benzaie I don't think it'd be a big surprise ;D
I also had a feeling someone would do a "Gay Benzaie" impression. xDD that video still cracks me up.
I am so awaiting the 3rd year anniversary video like carzy

I'm a fan on watching commentary, deleted scenes and bloopers. I also like seeing the camaraderie, so I'm a fan of things like this. They love him. I they didn't, they would ignore him.
And while I do believe they take what they do seriously, it doesn't mean they necessarily take themselves very seriously. If they did, I wouldn't like them as much.
He got his retaliation in the end. :)

The impressions are really nice, I can't wait for more ! :D
By the way, every European screams WTF ?! when there are additional taxes. Including me when I first went to Texas, I was like: "Oh everything is so cheap here, that's nice !" afterwards: "What the ... just ... WHY ?!?!"
I fully understand you, Benzaie.
Oh, is there any video footage of the Hot Tub scene ?

My friend Scott must be the only European who isn't flabbergasted by sales tax. He's visited the States several times and seems perfectly okay with it.
On another note, I've been watching the American sitcom Perfect Strangers a lot lately and it's come to my attention that Benzaie is essentially Channel Awesome's answer to Balki Bartokolmous

Poor Benzaie, I can totally relate to his food-based griefs, be it bread, root beer or "hidden" taxes. ;)
But I do miss Mountain Dew...
Oh, and you guys are dicks. Loving, caring dicks. ;)

05.07.2011 - 01:24 | FutureravenSeriously, the first time you have to face sales tax after being European, it does piss you off, here something has a price on it, it's that price, going the America and suddenly they make you pay more, is really bloody annoying.
