meh
I almost always love your stuff ... but well
I'm just didn't like the whole walking, shaky cam, voice trailing in and out
thing. It was quite annoying at times. I'm all for thinking out side the box and
trying new things but i just don't feel this one paid off. I the past when
you've reviewed something while 'sitting at the desk' it felt like you were
watching the clips with the viewer and talking with them. This just felt like
you have footage of you walking n talking so lets just toss in some film clips
and call it a review.

I made an account just so I could comment on this video.
Because oh my gawd, The Last fucking Unicorn. For the longest time, I thought this was some kind of half-remembered nightmare my weird child-mind had come up with. It wasn't until I saw the DVD in Best Buy last year that I was like "Holy fuck that was real."
This movie always confused me because it didn't seem to make any sense. What was the point of the whole thing? Everyone came out unhappier, it seems. (Except the sidekicks) That's not the greatest message to implant in a small child's mind.
Your review was done in an interesting way, but the quality is a bit bad. Your face is a big blur when you're standing on the rock.

The Last Unicorn was written by Peter S. Beagle, who was known for writing hugely bizarre sorts of stories, but also with good views of morality.
In the Last Unicorn novel, Schmendrick and Molly quickly become more of the main focus of the story as compared to Prince Lir and the Unicorn/Amalthea. Throughout the novel where Lir and the Unicorn are involved they are often self centered despite noble aims, and due to their completely different worlds, they could have no other ending besides how they had. Meanwhile Schmendrick and Molly were supportive, though sometimes griping, and willing to give up everything they had for the Unicorn, and thus were deserving of their happy ending.

I have had a lot of moments like that. "Holy crap, that was a real movie?" When I was five I saw Empire Strikes Back on video, and then the scene where Chewbacca with C-3P0 on his back as the heroes escape to the landing pad to the Millennium Falcon comes up. I must have seen it when I was two or something, because I had seen it before and always thought it was a dream. It's not the only one, and not all of them are happy.

Very amusing. Nice to see you trying new things. Pretty good memory it seems, too. Your "fact checks" were about stuff unrelated to the movie, so Kudos.
I do seem to remember The Dork With No Name doing a very similar concept for his "Books in 5 Lines" at one point, though. So...theft? :P
Nah. And interesting way to review, at any point. :)

Oh my goodness, I used to love this movie...and yet I don't think I ever really got it. This was before I even knew what anime was, lol. I'm so with you on Molly though, she made the whole movie worth it. The Unicorn (did she ever have a name?) had almost no personality.
I like the review on location! You should do it again someplace else!

Oh my, but I remember reading this book about a billion years ago! Nobody told me there was a movie! But yes, a rather interesting format for a review, and I must say that you memory was fantastic for doing it from the woods, though you may have had a script, it was still fantastic!
Also, your number one fan is pretty hot, just thought I should say xD

Who else could carry on the typical kind of conversation that all us hikers have during long expeditions, and still make a decent video out of it? Creative use of what you have on hand Miss Nostalgia. Very resourceful.
I wouldn't advise doing this again though. It's enjoyable for this one time, but never again. Resourceful as you are, this didn't feel up to par with your normal reviews. More of a simple recap peppered with bits of commentary.
Either way, I still commend you on being able to take on a film recap during a long hike like this, not to mention find a way to connect your assignment with the movie itself. For that at least, I salute you and Lauren (and the bowtie).

That was an interesting way to do review the movie, it's like how people reminisce about their favorite childhood movies.
Oh but dear god that song IS awful, I always have to fast forward through it. I remember when I drunkenly forced my friend to watch the movie (after we drunkenly watched Return to Oz) I thankfully fast forwarded through that one, but I forgot that Jeff Bridges also sings a song. She practically wailed for me to find the remote and skip it. :D

Marz should post her review of this out of spite lol (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c5cnsjJwIQ). Better yet she should do that and review Pocahontas with Goggles as well.
I'm actually not in a good mood, but I will give one star of effort for trying something different... even though it doesn't really work. This isn't a review really, it's just your recollections of what happened. The quality is about on part with the Critic's Transformers reviews. It's definitely spur of the moment, but it doesn't seem well prepared at all (which is another definition). In all honesty there's nothing interesting about this video.

It helps quite a bit if you have read the book. It is ordered a bit more logically in the book. How was the ending sad? All the unicorns were freed, and thus magic, hope, joy, and all that jazz were brought back. THe only way that can be seen as sad is if you hate unicorns and want all magic drained from the earth.

Heh, who doesn't believe in unicorns and magic. ;) :P
It was a really interesting setup for this review (with some very nice scenery) but I think you could have utilized your (fangirl) friend just a little bit more.
I only managed to see the first half of this movie last year and the booby tree was definitely memorable. Now I want some pirate kitty!
Stay awesome, Lindsay!
