First off, Sonic isn't an American icon. He's well-loved in America, to be sure, but Sonic is very much a Japanese creation.
Secondly, it's hard to imagine the innocent and annoyingly youthful Tails as a drug pusher. Knuckles, on the other hand....
Third and most importantly, how could you not have mentioned Sonic's recent run of crappy games? You're making a sketch about how Sonic is hitting rock bottom without mentioning that he hasn't starred in a decent game for ten years?! That is just plain sloppy.
Still, I like the character of Dominic and I absolutely love to see your drawing skills in action. The premise is solid, though I keep feeling like your treatment of the characters is very superficial. Dig deeper for the laughs, bring more jokes from a gamer's perspective and this series will truly be great.

"Third and most importantly, how could you not have mentioned Sonic's

rock bottom without mentioning that he hasn't starred in a decent game for ten
years?! That is just plain sloppy."Because first off, this show is about the characters, not the games. And second, not everyone thinks the newer games have been crappy, anyways. Not to mention those jokes have been done to death, anyways.

You could pretty much argue that he's an american icon since Sega of america fixed his image before the game was released. Sonic was origanally going to be a rock star and have a human girl friend. He was also going to look more anime-ish and the game was going to have a more complex story... Now after hearing this doesn't something come to mind? I pretty much described sonic next gen for you and that's how sonic was going to be originally so you can decide for yourself if America saved him or not at least for the first 10 years of his life.

but if he "dug deep" for laughs from the gamers, he would just be using the same overused joke concepts and cliches that we prolly all heard a million times before.
Doug is obviously trying to find unique idea concepts, like with the Mario sketch and peaches' bedroom 'preferences'. Rather than just going for the obvious. Which he still does, but in a more unique manner.
besides the games just suck now, we all know that. and hes not a gaming critic. hell hes not even supposed to be a critic in this series.
However, i understand that your just bringing constructive criticism, which is perfectly fine, not like your just bashing on TGWTG just because you like sonic 2 or something foolish.
this at least shows that even though we all really like this site and everything on it, people should still be allowed to give an intelligent honest opinion about new content, and admitting to not liking something just because it has TGWTG in it.

You seem to have a very controversial post there. I agree with your third point but I disagree with the second.
He made Princess Peach fall in love with bowser and become obsessed with being kidnapped. If he can do THAT Tails being a drug dealer sounds plausible by comparison.
(But yeah. Sonic and the Secret Rings sucked and could have been used to make a lot of jokes in this video. )

I couldn't agree more nor put it in better words

Maybe because he might have liked some of the newer games. Not everybody thinks that just because SOnic is trying too be different means he sucks you know. It means that those people have moved on and forgot that there is any older SOnic games. Its a smart move, because the games look so much better when you get rid of your stupid bias against them you Sonic fanboy freak.

His accent reminds me of Jason... jason stamos? .. what the hell is his name *looks it up*
Jason Statham
Needless to say, without out having to dig too deep, I enjoyed it. I really like these particular sketches.
These are meant to be entertaining, not historically accurate... who cares if Sonic is from America or Japan for this type of video, big whoop. You get the point hes tryin to get across that sonic is a recognized icon.
Keep on trucking Doug!
... still waitin on an answer from 'Ask that guy' on Voltron VS Megazord =P

great show doug. i like the new segments. but i can't help but feel that this one as been dragging on a bit and the constant mentioning of the meth rings was good but in some point it felt a bit repetitive.
i think you should make this episodes more tight.
but still, i love your work and you are a great entertainer.

Like FullmetalNinja25 said: I mean how else would you explain Sonic Next Gen? He was too high to realize he
was in a shitty game.

I'm a little surprised Sonic's games getting worse and worse wasn't the hook of the whole thing. Sort like it works with actors when their art suffers from their personal problems. But then again, this sketch works if you only know the very basics of Sonic. On the other hand the audience on TGWTG is a bunch of geeks that allow you to make super-specific references and they will get it and love it.
