At the Dallas Call I actually did the Independence Day speech. 'Twas a fun one. They made me perform it in a bunch of different accents.

"In the Fall of 2011, in a Chicago hotel, people were reciting with perfect seriousness and drama the famous 'To Be or Not to Be' speech from William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' in order to audition for 'The Angry Video Game Nerd Movie'."

Just the simple fact that this sentence is TRUE should give everyone reason to friggin' live! That's how cool the world we live in truly is! ROFL!

The funniest part was defintley the ending with the guy saying that between the AVGN and NC he'd choose the Irate Gamer and NC chasing him away. As it should be, as it should be.

Though this is a good video, I am going to have to do a groan in advance. Why? Because if this gets shown on Cinemassacre's website, there's going to be a bunch of close minded AVGN fanboys who are going to be like "boo why is Doug involved with this! He sucks wha wha wah" which really ticks me off since no one is honestly like that here. Didn't the fued die years ago (ironically enough in the very room they're filming the auditions in as that was the room for the first year brawl I believe) and yet some people are still angry at NC for the most ignorant reasons. I really hope there's no one like that who will just go after doug if this vid is posted bhere but I have a feeling that will happen. Thus, the groan in advance.

Hey man it sounds like you're a close-minded NC fanboy if you're not going to acknowledge the tons of avgn fans who LOVE NC and AVGN, even when they were "feuding" because it's entertainment. They both make really awesome, funny videos. Just saying that you shouldn't make broad assumptions. I know there are a small amount of NC fans that say what you say, but most would probably be full on board for the videos being posted in both places, for maximum exposure and viewing.

Colonel, I think you were confused. He's saying almost the same thing you're saying, just in the opposite direction. "there's going to be a bunch of close minded AVGN fanboys who are going to be like "boo why is Doug involved with this! He sucks wha wha wah" which really ticks me off"

And there will surely be a lot of NC people who will complain about AVGN......somehow.. You know, fandumb.

Just relax and ignore anyone who tries to incite senseless conflict. Anyone with brains and a heart knows full well that James and Doug are friends and that the "feud" was always a joke.
  • Moogleknight24
    avatar
Actually... there will probably be people on Cinemassacre like that.

Because on Spoony's site Spoony put up his crossover review with Filmbrain some people were just going on and on saying "FilmBrain sucks" and "Can't review" and such and even insulted his accent. Then they started mentioning other cross-reviewers and attacking them, even in the comments for his site's Suburban Knights uploads a group of people wouldn't praise anyone but Spoony.

If AVGN fans (Though most likely a small amount) do the same thing I wouldn't be surprised.
  • korruption  - I share this groan...

When I watched a video that James put together - summarizing his feud with this then-unknown-to-me "Nostalgia Critic" guy, I was fooled at the beginning and thought James and Doug actually had a beef with each other (for the first few seconds anyway).

What's sad is that James HAD TO state that "It's Satirical," repeatedly and still most kids didn't get that it was, and James even said that "The AVGN and NC respect each others' work" and all that. They had this stupid "satirical satire is satirical"

God, I wish ya'll were in Texas because I'd loved to've done this! I'd probaly embarresed myself but I'd had fun at it!

Ya'll should've reached out to other internet celebs and got the guy from youtube that does those perfect Ian McKellen impresion!

LOL,the Irate Gamer... Nice to see Rob is still alive. They obviously had a lot of fun making these auditions. I wonder if 30 years from now we will be watching this video in MatrixTube and going: "Hey,this from [insert actor hopefuls name here] before he was famous. And look at Doug when he still had his original non-robot body!".

I wish I were living in the USA. Stupid Spain >:U. 2000 euros is too expensive to go in a plane trip to Chicago, damn.
  • Varis
Kudos to the Scary Movie Maid guy. I don't know if he was seriously auditioning or just messing around, but he has some major balls. AND he did the voice pretty well too.
  • YingYing
Thanks for sharing this with us Doug, Rob, TGWTG et al.!

I'm no actor but watching was a blast. Some really funny people in here, loved the unique takes on those accents. I think it's great that Doug and Rob kept the environment fun and friendly too, to help ease tension and just make it a more enjoyable event overall.

I for one think the AVGN movie has great promise and will have lots of good talent involved. Thanks again for sharing!

It is great that we get to see a bit of what was going on ^^
It is really interesting to see all these people do their thing. And the ending was just perfect XD
Smart man for chosing neither and a brave one too. I don't know what he can do as an actor but ust because of that I'd like to see him getting a role.
    But Good Luck to everyone!
  • Yeahwhatever
Some guy actually read Ferris Bueller's Day Off as Christopher Lee?

HIRE THAT MAN. HIRE HIM NOW.
  • karma_19  - Any more casting calls?

I live in Minneapolis. Will you be doing any open casting calls up here?
  • deathmaster168

Even if that Hamlet guy doesn't get a part, I want to see the whole footage of that audition. If he can make Doug emotional, he's sure to have given a powerful reciting of it.

Why did I not see many girls in this video? Was there only one girl who auditioned? or were the girls just not as entertaining as the boys...? that's bullcrap.
  • JetstreamGW

Please tell me someone had the balls to do the whole monologue from FMJ. It's a role for chrissake, we shouldn't be so afraid of racial slurs that we can't use them in THAT context :D
  • edman4327  - I demand a casting call in miami!
    avatar
Man I wish I could have tried out... you should do a casting call in Miami! Anyways, that one chick was really good and I too wonder if only one chick auditioned or if she was just the only good one... The singing guy was pretty funny so maybe he can get a humorous role in the movie.

Has any of the plot to the AVGN movie been revealed yet? All I heard was that there would be several game reviews within it...

Those were some good actors! That third guy doing Rambo's monologue from First Blood was pretty good. The female one was great! I thought the guy who sang the puke song deserves a spot, too. One that definitely needs to get in was the guy who cried during his Hamlet monologue, anyone who can force himself to cry during a scene definitely has something going for him.

This is SO cool. Please post more videos of the auditions, they're tremendously entertaining!

Some of these folks are truly impressive and seem really likable, too. It makes me want to practice my acting some more, and maybe even get involved in something like this. =^_^=

stuff like this makes me wish I still lived in Chicago. oh well. Good luck to everyone that auditioned!
  • Bittergamer1886  - At Ultra Neo Mike
You know what's funny? You whine about AVGN fans when you whine about the Irate Gamer. Look, if you hate the Irate Gamer, don't watch his videos or don't talk about him.
  • HermesStar

I remember from one of the previous videos about this movie that the shooting and whatnot is supposed to be taking place between the Chicago and the Philadelphia area.
If that statement still holds true, will there be some hope for us who live near Philadelphia to still be able to become involved with this project?
