Looks like more like an arrow to me. However, this is the third time today that a woman has pointed at me and screamed "PENIS!", even if this time was just from a video. I wonder if this means something. :) I am kidding.

It was nice to see a review that was just based around having fun, instead of pretend anger.

It means one of 3 things, you look like a penis, you're a dick, or you had your penis out.

I love Daft Punk, the Discovery Album and Interstella 5555. Great Review, and very funny!

I noticed the plot holes, but....
    Just dance!

This was a very enjoyable review! Such energy, passion, and fun! :D
  • TryMe
Is spelled "55-55"! Not "5-5-5-5" or "55-5" OR "5-55"! GET IT RIGHT DAMNIT!!!
  • JewWario
    avatar
    Nope. I'm right. It's 5555.

It's that way at the title screen, on the DVD box... everywhere.
  • LikaLaruku
    avatar
It's spelled 5555 & pronounced "four five." Wikipedia will back me up on this one. Plus Leiji Matumoto's Galaxy express 999 is pronounced "three nine."
  • JewWario
    avatar
And in THAT... YOU are right. :)
  • RWF
    can I say 20 instead?

This is a team up I didn't expect, but I'm more than happy to see it. You guys worked together well and I was entertained throughout.

I hadn't heard of this movie, but Daft Punk is awesome and seeing it together with anime definitely seems cool. I'm going to have to look for this and ... just dance.

    No Best and Worst Paw?

Though I suppose this is more of a music video as opposed to a music movie.
  • KingOfDoma  - SO. MUCH. FUN.
    avatar
You guys make an adorable little quartet! This group simply MUST do more crossovers! THE INTERNET DEMANDS IT!
  • krystalena

This was one of the best Crossovers so far. I really liekd what I saw from Nella and Lisa actually fully reviewing something. I think they could both handle a full review either on there own or together. I am really starting to like Lisa too. I was thinking the same way she was watching it.
  • Kiwilite  - You have just bought my heart!
I pledge my loyalty to the TGWTG website and to the awesomeness for which it stands. One channel under awesome with Kick ass and Awesomeness for all.... You have reviewed one of my anime gems and loved it. Daft Punk and anime do you need anything else? I'm so freakin happy i can just DANCE! *dances wildly and turns up DAFT PUNK to 11*

Nice. I think it's nice to see the girls review something on their own, instead of just being a part of Lindsay's reviews. And of course Paw has to be involved in the ultimate music movie! Too bad there was no Best/Worst.

The only person that actually seems a bit weird is you, Jdub. Did you at least watch this on a PlayStation 3?
  • Captain Siberia
Good movie. Mostly because of how cool it is.

Oh, hey, Makeover Fairy. I don't think anyone needs a makeover right now.

    I think it's pronounced "Four-Five," like Galaxy Express Three-Nine.

Super Mario Land elevator music! Too much, man!

    See? Like Nella said.

Should we name the more interesting sample sources as we go? "More Spell on You," "I Love You More," "Cola Bottle Baby," "Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed," "Break Down for Love," "The Evil Woman" is just super-obvious...

Gee, Elisa's likeness doesn't change the basic Matsumoto Blond template one bit.

But wait! Don't forget how in the beginning, they were releasing individual music videos one by one on MTV and similar stations, and then they stopped after the first four songs, so you were left with this big cliffhanger. "They get turned into humans, but then what? WHAT HAPPENS?" And then finally the movie came out, and the floodgates opened.

Where are the subtitles on your version?

Never mind that the instruments they play are not the instruments you hear, and that they aren't playing anything close to the song. Minor details.

    Army? More like concert security.

Stalker? More like fan who in no way violates the boundaries of fandom. Come on, guys.

The ship does not look like a penis; it looks like a guitar. You guys are perverts. The shifter, however, looks a great deal like a penis. Seriously: ship, not a penis; shifter, a penis. I'm not joking. Look at the shot where he's gripping the shifter.

They were ALL blue! And what about the fact that their memories were also altered so they think they're really humans? You forgot to mention that!

Why would they go with the space hero? Because it's better than their gig with the record label.

    Tochiro, you mean?

No, he's rendered without genitals. Can't fool me. If he had genitals, I would know about it.

And suddenly the movie realizes that it has to hurry up to get the story told, so it squeezes a ton of exposition and plot into one song. And yet the movie is still cool!

And the book is called Veridis Quo because they wanted to use the title of the song in the sequence somehow. Much like the way they called the band The Crescendolls because it was a song title.

They tried to squeeze the plot and ended up squishing it. That's what happened. And I think maybe the ship was what crashed at the beginning of the book and killed the guy's father.

Yeah, I loved the Ferengi bit. Oh, he escaped? I didn't catch that.

Why 5555? No reason at all. And boy, is the whole "Conquest of Universe" thing silly! Fun silly, though. And where is M. Byson yelling "Of course"?
  • Captain Siberia
It's the classic thing, isn't it? The temple destroys itself for no actual reason.

No, do think, but say, "This is very silly, but still fun." Certain people use "don't think" as an argument for why you should like all the crappy stuff they do.

Actually, remember how during "Crescendolls," the black member was listed as hating "Injustice"? They knew exactly what they were saying.

Does the final song feel like a bit of a chore to you guys, too?

Well, performing concerts is what they love to do the most. Hey, well-written characters was never one of this movie's strong suits. It succeeds on other levels.

What, you mean "fuck"? You can say that. JewWario, You Can Say This. Come on, change the slogan just a little bit this one time? You Can Say This.

Well we know what went through his mind because we saw the interview excerpt at the beginning.

The Galaxy Express Three-9 will take you on a journey, a never-ending journey, A journey to the stars!

"The ending is a twist and really gets you thinking." I think you forgot the punchline there.

Uh-oh, the video was mastered with audio at 48 kHz, the copy of "One More Time" came from a CD at 44.1 kHz, and you didn't pre-convert the song to match the sampling rate of the video before you inserted it into the timeline. You using Final Cut Pro? It will totally screw you if you try to mismatch sampling rates like that. You put a song with the wrong sampling rate into the timeline, and it stutters and breaks all over the place. You've gotta load it into an audio editing program and convert it to the same sampling rate as the video to avoid problems like that.

I think this was one of the best/random crossovers yet!. Everyone played off the other awesomely :D

As for the movie, i've seen it in parts and it really is alot of fun ^^
    DAFT PUNK FTW!!!

Oh and JewWario's grumpy-dance and mini 'just-go-with-it' rant were hilarious XD i love you man, seriously *thumbsup*

I'm a huge Daft Punk fan. It was great to see you guys review this.
  • banditoxreborn
I've never seen this before, but I love Daft Punk. I'd heard they had a movie out but never seen it. I definitely have to go out and see if I can find it somewhere.

The video genuinely had me cracking up, which is saying something because I rarely laugh out loud at movies/television/web videos. You guys have a great dynamic :D
  • RectilinearPropagation  - If you haven't found it yet...

  • Capt. Flint
Paw at the beginning: "DAFT PUNK SENSES GOING CRAZY!!!"

I love that Lisa has the cleavage equivalent of cartoon hammer space. She had multiple books!

A fantastic review of something I have always loved.
  • blackshadow
