I don't know, Nella has got more guts than I do, I would be too nervous to try it because I am afraid I am going to get sick or something. Espically the part where you talk about a trace of the fatty bit. I would probably share Lindsay's reaction too. It would probably make me gag as well.
*salutes Nella* YOU GO GIRL!

06.23.2011 - 13:23 | SockpuppetHey, they've had COFFEE ice cream for years, so why not? If they made scrambled egg flavored ice cream, it could all be part of This Complete Ice Cream Breakfast.

You think that is bad Zydrate, I remember a couple of years back they was someone on the news who would go to carnivals and fairs to make something called Fried Coca-cola at the food courts.
I am not shitting.
And this week I heard they were making fried kool-aide. How the heck is that even possible!!?!?

The fair around here is getting that this year. It's not really "butter" if I heard right. It's a cream cheese stuffed churro. Sounds yummy! "Fried Coke" (not to be confused with "frying the Coke") is just deep fried batter that is flavored with frozen Coke and then topped with Coke syrup, whip cream and a cherry. I think I've had that before. The Kool-Aid will probably be the same thing. I think the worst deep fried thing I've had was "Deep Fried Cream Cheese". It was basically a brick of cream cheese dipped in fry batter and fried. The taste wasn't bad but the filling was just too much cream cheese (I never thought I'd say that).
Yes, the bacon fad has gone the distance. Not that I'm against bacon. I love bacon. Hell, I'd give this sundae a shot myself, if I actually ever ate out. Or had the money to. Dammit.

06.23.2011 - 13:26 | SockpuppetI love the fact that all fast food restaurants keep putting ridiculous "healthy" things in their menus, and then slap BACON on everything ELSE in their menus.

You say that now.. I mean last year they had a Whopper at the Burger King here in Holland topped with cranberry sauce.
That too was an odd experience.
As for meat icecream, I've never had it but I know they sell it in Japan at the supermarket. They have, whale, goat, horse, etc.
I saw an article on it once on a Japanese news site.

I agree, it's does sound tasty enough to try at least once.
I don't see what everyone's problem is, especially those in "safe" Europe or Asia, at least we don't have Ox Tongue or Artichoke ice-cream. Have you ever tried Green Tea flavored ice cream? It tastes like grass, id much rather have the flavor of smokey bacon and maple syrup over vanilla ice cream any day!
How can anyone hate bacon? It's great on lean steaks, rice, pancake/egg sandwiches, casseroles, shrimp, ice cream, beans, woven in a blanket and wrapped around sausage. . . . x_X
-
06.23.2011 - 09:41 | elelgood90I like Green tea ice cream. Then again, it was in some carton and it was only a dollar, so maybe I forced myself to like it.
I do agree about bacon. I love bacon. And I would totallu try a bacon sundae at least once. I haven't been to Dennys since I was very little, and I doubt I'll go anytime soon.

I like bacon...but...that much of it, plus paired with the fact that it's from *Denny's* is enough to make me queasy to no end. Are the Denny's better back east or something? Because Over here (Northern California, SF Bay area region) they're considered to be, uh...not that great. To put it exceedingly lightly. xD

Last time I ate at Denny's the fuckers made me wait 35 minutes for scrambled eggs. Haven't been back since and I must say that Denny's is the most rock bottom shit-hole of a restaurant.
-
06.23.2011 - 04:29 | BruinettoI work at a Denny's and after working the late night shift and seeing this, it makes me happy. I wish the producers of Channel Awesome would visit my Denny's! I'd lose my MIND

06.23.2011 - 09:43 | elelgood90You just made me jealous by mentioning Perkins. I used to love their chicken tender sandwiches as a kid and their pie.
Now I know, if I ever end up at a Denny's, I'll get chicken.

06.23.2011 - 05:35 | LarieYou know, this is interesting.
At first I couldn't believe this even existed, but then I remembered that here in the Netherlands, we make pancakes with bacon, and when you put maple syrup on it, it's actually really good.
The fact that it has ice cream and is frozen, however... that is a bit weird.

06.23.2011 - 07:18 | VinterdrakenFor me the worst part would be the icecream. Im a bit wierd and never liked Icecream, Bacon though, sweet sweet bacon, that I can do.

I mean, were there a lot of us Americans really demanding bacon in our ice cream? I mean the ice cream at Denny's is bad enough. My brother and I stopped at one with a bunch of other kids years ago because the adult supervisors of our summer field trip from the Boys and Girls Club thought that we all deserved ice cream for good behavior. And the very next day, me, my brother, and everyone else who had gone on the trip were sick with food poisoning. And I have never been to a Denny's since then! So I will never try their lousy ice cream with bacon on top. I'd rather keep my organs intact!

Cost of sundae: $2.99. Calories: 810. Fat grams: 40. Milligrams of cholesterol: 150. The look on Lindsay's face watching her friend attempt this task: PRICELESS.
I will say this, though: bacon as part of a dessert CAN work if it is executed well. Case in point: a few months ago, I went to B Spot in Cleveland (one of Iron Chef Michael Symon's restaurants) to try the food. Excellent burger, fantastic fries... and I just HAD to buy it: a Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon Bad-Ass Shake. And it was delicious. For the record, there were bacon crumblings - pretty salty, but did not overpower the apply goodness. It's $5 for all shakes (add $3 if you want alcohol added).
Plus, I am guilty of also dipping my fries into a Wendy's Frosty in the past; so... (raspberry)
Besides, there will always be weird food combinations out there that work for some and fail for others. Look at the Shewman Special at Scotty's Brewhouse in various Indiana locations: bacon, jalapeno, and peanut butter... on a burger! And it's a hit there.
Just remember: everything in moderation. Of course, this is coming from a guy whose avatar here is a Smiley cookie.
-
06.23.2011 - 09:46 | elelgood90Ok, that sounds yummy. I'm jealous now.
And I dip my fries in my frosties as well. Or in any milkshake. I always have a chocolate shake, so I think the two flavors compliment each other.

We do have Dennys' up in Canada, but I'm quite glad I've never been to one.
