09.19.2010 - 21:14 | NeverpleasedSeriously what was up with the 1900's!
They would kill off random things in books, theatre and Children's cartoons. When did we all turn into bloody pansies.
Nowadays you can't even find a hint of conflict because even being better or unique from others is deemed inappropriate.
I miss the good old days when Disney taught us we would all one day have to put a shotgun barrel to our dog's head and pull the trigger.

09.19.2010 - 22:45 | TentaclesOne of the reasons I was unsatisfied with Adventures of Gilgamesh. They should have one successful execution every once in a while to build atmosphere.

I think it was all triggered by that whole child-see-child-do business that arose at the end of the 20th century. All of a sudden, kids "couldn't handle" death or violence, so we all got covered in bubble wrap and sent to play in Mattress Land. It's also because of that bullshit that 4Kids rose to power...

The ghost of Chistopher Walken terrifying? Maybe.
However, almost all of us would make sure to own a copy of the cartoon that had such a thing in it. At the very least, I know I would. =D
Good commentary Doug. I like these riffs quite a bit. I really liked your repeated usages of "But don't worry kids, it's not that kind of story." That made me laugh every time. XD

The pages of Anne Frank's diary containing Casper must have been ripped out. Darn censorship.

09.20.2010 - 06:51 | smxAs a Sonic fan, I speak or all of us when I say, IT WAS A FREKIN' JOKE! Doug isn't a Sonic Fan so really The joke was... Knuckles is red --> The Fox is red. HA. FREKIN'. HA.
-
09.20.2010 - 09:05 | SqueezeboxDoes it matter? The fox looks more like Knuckles. I think that was the joke.
Besides, I love it when Doug makes reference to things you'd never think he'd reference, like Dexter's Laboratory in the Mr. Nanny review.

Great job as always NC

09.19.2010 - 22:44 | KariPlague Dogs? Right up there with Watership Down, isn't it? Man, how are kids today ever going to come by any decent cartoon induced nightmares like I had?
-
09.20.2010 - 22:45 | HugoLumanAre you talking about Plague Dogs? Man, people always confuse that movie for a children's film.
