09.17.2010 - 10:04 | Katiileinhaha ya air conditioning... I talked with my friends from america about it and heard in america even the poorest of the poor have air conditioning in their houses... whereas... here in germany... and probably also in austria, that is something only in really luxury places.... at least that is what I experienced so far living in germany since 24 years xD

Screw that, I want the covers to be clean and white. I'll make the determination I also don't want my 3 star hotel room to be sweltering, or the to be half the size of J-Lo's shoe closet.
That hotel rant was funny as fuck. and it will give second thoughts to others about staying in a hotel in Austria. Do a day trip and leave if you have to go there. You might be better off staying outside in a tent. Or a Hostel. At least that is cheaper.

Wow... I'm from Switzerland and I have never seen a hotel room this shabby, and I've stayed in hotels with less than three stars. Normally, when a European hotel has three stars it's above-average at least. Granted, I once had pretty small room in Florence (Italy) but there all the doors opened, the closet was big enough for your luggage, the bathroom was clean and it was even sort of cosy. But this? It looks terrible. Please don't get the wrong impression. Switzerland, Italy, Germany and even France (Sorry, Benzaie :snicker: ) have much, much better 3-star-hotels. I apologise on behalf of central Europe. Austria has nice cities (or Vienna, at least) and they make great movies but they don't seem to be able to be nice to visitors, hotelwise.

Um, Doug.... that is not a bag. :uhh:
You see back in the day sheets were stuffed with not to washeble materials (feathers for example), so you pulled that "bag" over it, buttoned it up on the end, and sleeped like that, and than washed the "bag"
The same with pillows.

Yup, a duvet, and a duvet cover. Odd that the hotel didn't put the duvet cover ON, perticually seeing as that would have at least hidden how badly their duvet itself needed cleaning, but yeah...
actual idea: sound
implimentation by hotel: not so good

09.17.2010 - 10:21 | IntiriusHoi! I feel sorry for you. This is a fucked up hotel. ^^
I live in austria for 25 years now and i never got a problem like this.
Sure there a differences but i think u just got bad luck. The hotels in tyrol and upper austria pretty good. Even with 3 stars. ;)
But hey... another chance to make a funny video as a critic. ^^
Man... i hate myself that i don´t meet you. *g*

Holy shit.
Honestly, Doug, this is definitely not a 3-star hotel. This is more like a hostel than a hotel. I'm sorry you had to experience that hotel.
For your point about air conditioning: Unfortunately, air conditioners are extremely expensive in Austria (Europe in general), thus you won't see them.

09.17.2010 - 10:34 | backbeatbozoYa see, we're all about effiency here in Europe, if it uses more power than a toaster, its gone.. But really though, they should have at least had some central ventilation system or something.. I was in Vienna 2 years ago, lucky we stayed at a friends by the looks of it! :D

Doug visit Rep. of Georgia next year =)

Yeah, welcome to Europe, Doug.
There is a reason why we don't waste as much energy as the normal US citizen does and we suffer for it. =D
But yes, your hotel obviously sucked...that's bad luck.
And the "Vienna language" is called "German" you know. But most hotels have some international broadcasts you get on TV, like TV5, CNN and BBC.

Really? To me, it's another example of how biased Americans are, even the intelligent ones.
Seriously Doug, you spent a week in one of the most beautiful European countries, famous for its impact on every kind of art, and this is all you could come up with? Shame on you.
Btw.: You missed going to Innsbruck, as you missed a hell of a lot of other things.

That room you were staying at looked fantastic compared to the one I stayed at a couple of months ago.
It's called the "Clink" hostel... Can you guess what the big surprise is? Yeah, it used to be a prison. Prison rooms that they had very poorly 'converted' into hostel rooms. The air-conditioning was the hole in the window.
I realise that I'm just completely ignoring your video and going on a personal rant here... Sorry 'bout that.
