05.01.2010 - 21:48 | ShmooglavoueWhen the best episode is so uninteresting that you are going off talking about zelda throughout it, you can tell when a series was bad.

Doug you need to review the 1993 Megaman cartoon! That and the American Street Fighter cartoon as well!

05.02.2010 - 07:31 | NintendoPoweredGamerDamn that's right I forgot about the American version of the Street Fighter cartoon. Thanks for opening an old wound.

You tell em Doug, show those fans whose boss!By the way, the Lord of the rings joke was definitely the best.I'd have to say Tetra was my favorite zelda yet, Zelda seems to do all her best work when she's having an identity crises. In fact, if I were her, I would do everything possible to avoid ever becoming princess zelda and to stay in my alter ego.She saved links ass, what, 4 times? She saved Link more than Link saved her!To be fair though, her pirate crew helped.Even so in terms of how helpful she was, pirate zelda was probably better than ninja zelda!

05.01.2010 - 23:16 | kevin_videoI'm surprised at you guys. I thought you read all of your comments. A friend of mine actually talked about the missing backgrounds in the Billy episode.
Quote: As for the scene where he talks about the no background in "Where's Bayou?" That was version 1 where scenes were incoherent and of course no bg. But there is actually a Where's Bayou Version 2 where they have backgrounds and it's actually coherent, but its rare to find, and I happened to find it in my VHS collection. what happened was the person that helped put this thing on DVD said "That's the only version they could find." So we were left with that garbage.
Other than that, good commentary.

05.02.2010 - 04:31 | KungFuManSo basically the guys that put together the DVD used a shoddy version of the cartoon they found lying around. Not surprising, I think the same thing happened with a few other cartoons to boot. :\

I think the Zelda name is about making the main character as inconspicuous as possible so that he'd be easier to relate to. Yeah, I don't get it either. I guess it's a roleplaying thing, you're supposed to imagine it's you out there beating up octorocks and whatnot.
And the cross? Here's a little something from wikipedia: "after circles, crosses are one of the first symbols drawn by children of all cultures". It's also a common celtic symbol. You know, with knights and stuff. Especially used in insignias. Which are painted on shields, among other things. Yeah.

05.02.2010 - 01:51 | secretfuryBy the way, if you really like Castlevania games, I advice you take a look at Castlevania Bloodlines (in the EU: The new generation).
It's for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and it's a really great Castlevania game with nice gameplay and soundtrack.

05.02.2010 - 02:07 | novice snobLove the jingle after the announcement of the coming out party. Fricken brilliant. :D
I too had fuzzy memories of both this show and the Super Mario Brothers show. Funny how bad they look now. :side:

The blonde guy reminds me so much of Gateau Mocha from Bakuretsu Hunter. "Marron, look at MEEE!" ::posing & muscle bulging::
That princess...she looks like a human version of Princess Sally from Sonic. How naughty of Nintendo :p
Y'now....women have to wear bras to avoid public indecency....Guys with manboobs should have to wear them too.
In my childhood, I'd only ever played 4 Nintendo games, so this show didn't bother me at all.

This is just a theory, but I presume that the reason for why the Zelda games are named after the distressed princess and not the hero is in reference to the Medieval European practice of Courtly Love (i.e. The knight performs a heroic journey in the name of his love). Such acts of the time kind of put the beloved (who was usually rich and powerful) on a pedestal.
