I thought it was actually the side effect of been thrown into the very first Coca-Cola brew at the time when it's creator tried to take over Santa as a measure to eventually take over over the most important holiday and then the economy so he could simply have the world's balls and do whatever he wanted. Problem been that Santa's sweat didn't quite mixed.
