When it comes to mrs. Doubtfire. Well I had the directors cat for a while and I liked it a lot. Yet when I saw Catwoman in 2004 I killed it and eat it. Some may say this was unfair and a "guilt by association kind of thing"...To this I must say that tits never ruined the innocence of my childhood. Though they did end it. Still I do not blame tits for anyting.

12.19.2012 - 13:41 | CommonThinking123Indeed. With Demo reel (I'm sorry to say) failing miserably, you have to ask what is the point of a studio and all this apparent new content when the Walkers (again, I'm sorry to say) have exposed themselves as being able to write a certain degree of humour which suits on-line on man shows, but does not suit anything beyond that. This was shoddy, Doug talking to Mara over a Web Cam? This was just Nash's WTFIWWY web show, just made out to be an interview show. I can understand that Doug is the face of this site, but I'm getting annoyed that works like Lupas 100th and Kyles 50th are pushed down the page because Doug has released a poorly shot vlog interview or a spliced together slide show Disney commentary which he narrates over. Demo Reel was supposed to have been the show they wanted and all we've had from that is poorly made vlogs and when they did release a show it was terrible with no logic or flow within its world. This isn't me being a negative puss, this is simply me giving criticism and I'm not the only one who is giving it, though I am one of the few here because should anyone criticise here they're instantly labelled a troll and told to stop being so negative. The BlockBusterBuster gets shit thrown at him when people judge something he has produced as shit, no one should be except from that rule, not Linkara, not Lindsay and not Doug and since Demo Reel, Dougs writing has gone down hill severely in my opinion and exposed him in many areas, the most in his inability to write female characters. Before anyone chimes in with "we didn't ask for your opinion" I remind you that this is the comment section and my opinion is equally valued as anyone else's.

In other words, it's the Nostalgia Critic or nothing in your eyes. I think that Demo Reel has been really good so far, and the reason it may or may not be pulling in less numbers than the Critic is that people on the internet hate change of any kind.
They were comfortable with Doug doing the same every week and they got into a routine with it...with mediocre episodes being given free passes because it was yet more Critic. He tried something new, and some fans get extremely butthurt over it.
You are, of course, entitled to your opinion...just as I am entitled to disagree wholeheartedly with what you said. Demo Reel is well written and entertaining, with a lot of the humour much more subtle than the Critic yelling obnoxiously about an old movie or show that we remember from the past. He's moved past the Critic somewhat....time to get over it and give the new things a chance rather than pouting over it not being what you're used to.
As for Lupa and Kyle's videos being "pushed down the page", welcome to a site that has new content released every day. Doug's video will get "pushed down" the site tomorrow by any number of new videos from less established reviewers...why complain just because the owner of the site has released new content? I feel that complaint is disingenuous at best, outright ignorant of how the site has worked for years at worst.

To say the Demo Reel is good, I have to disagree, whereas Nostalgia Critic videos keep me coming back time after time, because of their jokes and humor, Demo Reel just leaves me, personally, bored, and I never want to watch it again.
When they say Doug's videos get top billing, that is only because the Walkers are one of the first or founding members of the site, and the only reason his video appear first are because Doug's appearance is the "face" of the site. I find that kind of unfair to others who have just joined and looking for a break through performance, but at the same time, it is very easy for me to just pass over Doug's video and go down to another.

12.22.2012 - 18:45 | CommonThinking123At not point did I say its the nostalgia critic or nothing. That is just you trying to twist my words so they appease you in a way that you can justify jumping to dougs aid. I didn't address you in my comment, I addressed doug and my problem with the site. You read my comment, created a scenario of things which I didn't say and then wrote a response which effectively gives doug a blow job. You didn't READ my response and your reply proves it with so many holes it isn't even funny. Please don't look for hidden meanings in my message. If I had meant "its the nostalgia critic or nothing" id have damn well said that. Thank you.

I really think there has to be a point when one must scale back on certain projects. First is Demo Reel, then is Sibling Rivarly, then the promising game show and now this. I really think its time to look over what you have and decide what is keeping up and the direction you want to take your "shows" in or else there won't be enough commitment to what you have. Start small Doug and then get bigger.

Who the hell is voting this down? It's just an interview, and it's rather an interesting interview. I'm not a fan of Demo Reel, but I don't see the problem. The NC wasn't cancelled for this, get over it.
But that said I do have some critiques... There is kind of a quality disconnect, and I'm not talking about Mara's end. The camera angle on Doug is a bit odd (almost looking down on him). The fun facts while interesting are too plentiful and quite wordy. And some of the movie cutaways aren't edited in very well, sometimes just appearing for no reason and disappearing just as fast without any context.
Still I love Mara Wilson, I read what she posts on Facebook a lot, and I wish her continued success!
PS
Someone get to work on those Matilda 2 poster mock-ups!!!

This was great. I'm curious to see what other guests you can get for it. If I were to critique it at all, I'd say that some of those "fun facts", while interesting, were a little wordy and distracting, and your reaction shots just felt... weird, somehow. I wouldn't cut away from the person speaking just to show yourself nodding quietly. Maybe do a split-screen or just keep the focus on whoever's talking, and also cut back the amount of on-screen text. But again, aside from that, I thought this was excellent. Keep it up.

12.18.2012 - 21:54 | rdavehI had the same distraction with Doug's reaction shots - all the shots of Mara were straight into camera, and all of Doug's were... sort of staring off into nowhere. I think if both speakers were angled, or both were straight, it would have seemed more natural. But, it was only a minor distraction - I enjoyed the interview!

12.18.2012 - 20:49 | makenzieFor me, Matilda has always been a safe haven. Matilda's parents remind me of my own and I grew up in a VERY racist city where I was alienated not only by the students, but by the teachers as well. It helped me to see Matilda overcome all of this and go on to be amazing and her own person. It was nice to see her life get better eventually and to see her not giving up. I can connect with it more than I have connected with any other movie.
Mara Wilson is strong (as a separate entity from Matilda). She is more than just who she was as a child actress. It is hard to overcome such a strong label. She is clever, witty and just an overall great person from what I know about her. Plus, her blog is amazing.
Mara Wilson and Matilda both have helped me so much in my development and being okay with how I am.
I have a bit of a problem with Doug bringing up Mara Wilson's chest as the first and foremost point in the interview. Women in the media are oversexualized by men and it upsets me. Women are more than their appearance. I know I am blowing this way out of proportion and he did ask intellectual questions following this, but if she were a man, appearance would not have been brought up at all. It is a reoccurring theme from Anne Hathaway (http://youtu.be/ yoqc32eYUwI) and Matt Lauer to Scarlet Johansson on Extra (http://youtu.be/ DHxzxgwJTFc)

The point was about her having grown up, and it definitely would have been brought up either way, for the exact reason that for us she's first and foremost a former child actor, not a man or a woman. The problem you make notice of is that of paraphrasing, that in the case of the subject being a woman the focus is brought to looks specifically and not... what? What would've been better in your opinion? What exactly would you have used as a segway to point out her growing up, if not the one single thing that actually seperates adults from children?
That for one is a thing that's actually easier to women, with women and about women. Don't make everything out to look like oppression when it's not.

this is fine but.... i give you this idea
i remember like the videos of artist valley and i expect to you make the right chosse and interview some other tipes of people like mara wilson, you know i say others people outside of your webpage

Great video. I liked how the "fun facts" went back and forth between truthful and sarcastic. I could deal with NC ending if it meant more of these.
Also, good first episode.
