This is really one of those gimmicky money grabs that is as bad now as when it was released, so I really think you would remember it if you had seen it. Still maybe it was when you were too young to consciously remember it. I actually recall being somewhat entertained by the "soundtrack" that Pizza Hut used as an audio narcotic to get kids to force their parents into their restaurants(as if their bread sticks weren't already addictive enough). I would torture my parents with that ridiculous album every time we were in the car(I can still remember the "in pain" expression my folks had during that retarded April O'Neil ballad.
"They said April, you can count on us" LMFAO!
However, once I got the chance to see the video I realized how lame the whole thing really was. I hate to say it but the whole ordeal started the process of me turning my back on the TMNT franchise, while the third movie made it official. Bad ideas like this are disastrously destructive to IPs no matter how much you care about them. Considering I was still in my "single digit years"(ages 1-9)at the time this had to be truly horrible. You would think that atleast tiny bit of effort would have been put into making this somewhat decent for the legions of children fans. The culmination of horrible facial animations on the turtles, terrible lyrics(though I will atleast say the music was minimally catchy, in a garbage bubblegum pop way),terrible costumes on all the characters(most notably Shredder, and Splinter), and lack of any enthusiasm during the performance just made this fucking insulting!
On a side note, the song used in the intro made me think of "Tom Goes to the Mayor", and in this case it is a good thing. I fucking miss that show!

While this comment is something like 6 months old I felt it necessary to respond. Yes they still show TGTTM on Adult Swim, but only re-runs. Sadly it was canceled after the second season, but at least it made the price of series collection reasonable(i am trying to be optimistic, but I really fucking miss seeing new episodes.) Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! is usually very funny, but Tom's humor was much more consistent in my humble opinion.
As for the song used being the "Alf" theme, I just said it reminded me of TGTTM's music. It seriously makes me wonder if Tim, and Eric were big Alf fans.

I've waited for this for a while now. Thanks Doug! I'm happy to have this be released on my birthday, could not have asked for a better birthday present. ^^ I look forward to seeing the George of the Jungle (maybe someday) and Gargoyles review. TMNT was before my time, so I was never really into it as much as other people. Gargoyles was always my Ninja Turtles. Coincidencially, I just started rewatching Gargoyles -- never noticed how hot Demona and Elisa were before lol.
Yeah, the Coming Out of Their Shells thing seems really bad, even worse than the 4kids cartoon...

As a kid, here in México, I would have just died out of joy had I ever seen the TMNT singing on the stage...
Yeah, I kind of liked that sort of crap.
Anyway, this was really funny. I laughed so hard at that weird frozen Raphael (or was he?)
Splinter looks like some werewolf.
That last gag with the pen was priceless. Hope to get some more of the 2 of you together.

I was there!
Universal Studios, Hollywood. I was no more then 5-6 years old, and somehow, someway, I got tickets with my Mom and Grandmother.
As a little kid, it was the greatest show of my life. But looking back at it, it was pretty damn silly. Still, as the ultimate Turtle fan as a kid, I wouldn't change that experience for the world.
Thanks for the review, Boys.

nice to finally see it. sadly, I vaguely remember this tape, having owned it myself. I'm pretty sure it bored the shit out of me as a kid. for some odd reason my parents dictated what movies or tapes i watched back then, and not in the sense of 'oh your too young for that', more like 'oh i know you wanna watch Ninja turtles 2 the Secret of the Ooze but you're gonna watch Alvin and the Chipmunks instead'. not that it usually bothered me, but whenever this was on i think i complained.
anyways funny stuff guys!
