I never saw this show before. I can't believe I missed something as awesome as this.
Great review as always NC.

If I had to point to one show that summed up all of Nickelodeon, it would be Double Dare. Just too classic for words.
Also, I always thought Pick It, the one where they had to dig around in the giant nose, was the hardest obstacle course section ever.

I used to watch this show! Was pretty great. The questions were really easy, and yet the contestants rarely answered them correctly.

I remember Double Dare. It kicked ass! Summers totally deserved that award. Awesome episode.

Great review, I never knew Mark Summers was OCD. Looking back it really does make you wonder how he dealt with all that shit flying everywhere.
Just a suggestion for your next kids game show tribute though, Wild and Crazy Kids!

I love your reviews NC. You have surpassed the AVGN in my opinion. I remember watching this show when I was younger too and I found it extremely unfair for a kids game show. They asked a lot of questions most people don't even know. They should have stuck to stuff they had on Nickelodeon. And thanks for that last part. "No, this person had talent." lmao

Back when this show was on I watched it all the time. Marc Summers was in my and my sister's mind the most famous man in our universe. The things they did to him would be enough to make any body snap, let alone a man with a psychological disorder. Always kept his composure, at least until the commercial. A true professional if there ever was one. He deserves that award.

I used to watch this show non-stop next to Wheel of Fortune, Fun House, Guts, and Legends of the Hidden Temple. Not only was this show messy but it was also fun to watch and it made me have a dream of getting a bucket load of 100% Nick Slime dumped on my head. Great review. Also Marc is still the man.

XD LOVED this show... but seriously? Only a few hundred bucks. Wow, I always imagined them being millionaires.

Man I use to watch Double Dare all the time when I was a kid... I also remember Double Dare 2000, but that wasn't as great as the original. Awesome Video!

It's great to see a hilarious review that doesn't tear the subject to shreds. The NC has officially proven that he can be just as funny with praise as he can with bile, and that's something that many critics can't say. Kudos, NC.
Funnily enough, I saw an interview with Mark Summers that addressed his OCD. In the interview, he points out that if you watch the first couple of seasons, you'll notice that Summers doesn't get a drop of slime on him. Eventually, however, the producers approached Summers and said "Mark, we've got to show you getting more involved," and so he agreed to be slimed. He really is an inspiration for everyone with OCD, Asperger's, etc. and he does deserve a medal for that much.
Oh, and in regard to the money: $700 seemed like a lot more as a kid, didn't it?
As for the review, I thought this was a great review with a variety of jokes that were always just long enough (though the marijuana sequence was understandably slow). The opening was inspired and the comments were spot-on. Very well done.

I loved that show. Man, was it insane. I miss when Nickelodeon used to make game shows. Now all they have are slightly okay or mediocre Nicktoons.
-
07.13.2008 - 13:09 | iamturokforreales - Totally Awesome
I definitely remember Double Dare. But nothing was cooler than Legends of the Hidden Temple, at least in my book.
But enough of my rambling. This is one of the more memorable NC's that you have put out in a while, keep it up!

Woo, this took me back.

Nice review! You did a great job summing up the spirit of the show.

Marc Summers also hosted the awesome What Would You Do, which ended with the Pie Pod that threw four pies into a person's face. Pretty fun to watch the series all the way through, as the damn thing clearly worked less and less well every time. Guess it wasn't in the budget to get it fixed.

No mention of Double Dare 2000? Not even in passing? Oh well. Other than that, great review. Makes me want to watch the show again.

OMG, you should have an entire show devoted to the Dude, You got balls award.

Another good review NC. I do think it is interesting to see you do something that you really liked for a change of pace (especially after the Captain Planet review). To me, Double Dare along with "You Can't Do That on Television" made Nickelodeon in the 80's and made me stop everything to watch them. I think Double Dare is due for a revival.

07.13.2008 - 14:29 | NoTaste - Really cool review, and a cool show.
Its cool to see you doing more general nostalgia trips like this rather then straight up reviews. Also its cool to see you do things you like rather then just things you hate. It helps keep things fresh. This show however always held a back seat to wild and crazy kids. Sure this was cool but with wild and crazy kids theyd take like 100 kids and have em do amazing things like run around in bumper boats with giant nerf guns attatched with paint playing war games. Kids with guns is for the win.
