What an awesome early surprise! :D
Ahhh, "The Pagemaster". Another movie I watched a ridiculous amount of times as a kid. A while ago, I tried rewatching this movie out of pure nostalgia factor and alas, it really didn't stand up too well. Hell, I didn't even bother watching the rest of the movie!
I don't know if it's just me but when I rewatched this, the characters were a lot more...off to me now that I'm older and (hopefully) wiser. Lloyd Librarian is much creepier now, Culkin was much more awkward and "child actor-y" and Horror...well, he came off as uncomfortably dumb for a lack of better term.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed this review and I laughed myself silly over the Evil Reading Rainbow theme!
Oh, and Chester A. Bum, you are beauti-ma-ful, no matter what they say. ;)

After seeing this review, I was abit ashamed of watching it so many times as a child and I thought I was the only one.
A few things I have to say though:
1. I'll disagree on the Jekyll/Hyde scene. That scared the CRAP out of me and I was a little hesident to see it again.
2. The Dragon seen was BORING AS ALL HELL! I was waiting for the dragon the whole movie (since the whole reason I wanted the VHS was to see the dragon on the cover!), and when it finally happened
(ellipse)
nothing, just abso-lut-ly NOTHING[/ size] Oh you bet I screamed after that bullshit!
3. Even though I loved this movie as a child (to the point that my parents can remember the whole movie VER-BA-TUM) I'm starting to believe its because of watching this that I stayed completly away from books. So go figure :P

Aw, sad day. I loved Pagemaster as a kid.
I see a lot of your points, such as the characters not being developed (the literary classics, I mean) and I understand that. I don't speak for that crazy Ted Turner, but I would wager a guess that it was to get kids interested in the idea of these characters so that they, the kids, would want to read the story and find out.
I was also surprised that you didn't mention James Horner. I thought the music in here was fantastic, and well, James Horner makes fantastic music. If Titanic can be memorable why can't this?
As a small side note, the main music from this film is often used in trailers and retrospectives.
I got a great laugh from the Sonic Says, and as always your vast range of hilarious faces.
Thanks again for taking a look back at this film.

Agreed, I actually liked this one a lot as a kid. The animation and music alone carried it pretty well. Plus that paint dragon seen was badass for when this was made.
In a way I kind of wish someone could go back, fix this movie up and then re-release it, because all in all it deserves more credit than it gets.
Still though, you must lampoon, and most 90's animated movies lend themselves quite well to that sort of thing, so kudos on the funny review. (the whole Christopher lloyd thing had me rolling)

I thought this was easily your funniest review in a while! What a pleasant surprise it was to stumble upon it a full day earlier than expected as well! Nearly everything was spot on. I can honestly say I haven't laughed so hard for so long in ages. I was ready to get annoyed that you had yet another ad in your video, but what do you know, that turned out to be hilarious too! I might just buy those cards after all.... I'll have to check out that site. I'm sure just about everyone here appreciates the hard work you and your crew put in to bring us these reviews every week. Thank you so much for the laughs, Mister Critic. I've really been in need of some good laughs lately.
