OMG why do people still insist on saying they're first even though they KNOW they're gonna get flamed i mean why there is no point in saying you're first noone is gonna think you're cool or awesome SO GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS!

06.05.2009 - 10:08 | McKendrie
Well, sometimes it's just fun to say "HA HA, I'M FIRST!" even though you feel like a complete jerk.

Plus, who doesn't like to annoy people?

It was a 'fun' movie but not a great movie. It was silly. Made no sense - and anyone that is 'offended' by this review needs to grow a sense of humour, get off the med's and preferably not watch these clips anymore. You dont get it - never will get it - and are probably the same kind that cried when Rifftrax riffed The Dark Knight!!!

I'm with you, man. Insomnia is no fun, unless you're actually doing something fun with the energy you shouldn't have this time of day, like watching videos.

03.03.2009 - 19:00 | RebelTaxi - Teacher
My Teacher in the 5th grade hated this move since it wasn't accurate. Like how the pipe could resist the tornado.
-
03.06.2009 - 17:11 | CurseYouPikachu - I agree.
Simply put, if the tornado can THROW A HOUSE at you, the pipes are doomed.
DxAwesome review, Doug-san!

If your house has wheels.... drive it away from an area known for Twisters that can pick it up and smash it like a twig. Also, if you have a bunch of money, don't buy a mansion in a place that is known for fires and mud slides... WHY MALIBU WHY!?!

God I loved this movie when I was a kid....I used to be a fucking idiot.
Still, this movie has a couple of decent moments but those are thanks to Joss Whedon

For some reason I remember being scared of this when I first saw it years after it's release... A.K.A. Yesterday :O

Not even Burger King mascot can save you from this atrocity :C
I am now glad I never had the chance to see this movie (no matter how much my five-eight-year-old self wanted to).

Seeing how you've done Godzilla and now this, perhaps an Armageddon review is coming soon? I loved the movie but I'd like to see your take on it.

You know, I liked this movie when it came out, but looking back at it...it was pretty stupid. Special Effects addled my brain.
Great video as always Doug.

03.03.2009 - 19:21 | LUrabbi - I have to say...
I thought this review started out a little slow, but it really picked up around the 5 minute mark. Everything with the Burger King was hilarious, and the Dr. Claw voice at the end was awesome.
Still, I always kind of liked Twister, if only for the flying cow scene and the hotness that is Helen Hunt.

I am SO glad you pointed out that retarded "Is there an F5?" scene. For some reason that sticks out the most.
Is that not the most logical question you would ask when discussing the Fujita scale? Why the fuck does everyone gasp as if she just called his aunt a hooker and set fire to a crucifix?
Your reaction was on the mark.
As a kid I was way into weather and tornadoes, knew that DOROTHY is based on an actual machine called "TOTO" (TOtable Tornado Observer) An entire plot revolving over who would get to use a "revolutionary" piece of equipment was completely ridiculous to me, considering the machine had been around for years.
Oh yeah, and it didn't fucking work.

Good god, I remember watching this movie frequently back when it came out, though I never understood why...
Lesson learned, in the event of a natural disaster, soda will be your savior.

My parents always talked about how great this movie was...
I can clearly see that they were wrong.

03.03.2009 - 19:26 | CMWaters - Hmm.
No mention of the fact that they actually show a clip from a Bugs Bunny and Taz cartoon before the movie to get everyone's hopes up?
I only saw this movie on a bus going to a Boy Scout trip...fell asleep about halfway through it. Looks like I wasn't missing much.

Awesome review as always!
I remember watching this crappy movie in theatre and having everyone shune me for cracking up at the horrible effects of the guy getting sucked into the twister in the begining of the movie.
and i was like "What!? that was funny!"
Well either way im glad you tore this movie a new asshole and proved everyone elses wrong

Also loved the part when you threw ozzy osbourne into it and did the voice

Fantastic video! I'd only like to point out one thing.
To be fair to the characters, the center of a tornado is supposed to be surprisingly calm, so the people probably actually could have kept their eyes open at the center. That is, of course, after the should have gotten their bones shattered by the outside of the tornado. And then again, when the other side hits them.

Also, when this movie first came out, I didn't like it, but just because it was boring. I mean, this was a boring movie. The Nostalgia Critic basically showed a tornado montage here, because those parts were the only parts worth watching, but in reality, this movie was nothing and more nothing, with just enough tornadoes in between to keep you awake.

That's what DS's looked like BACK IN MY DAY.
Also, no color or backlighting. |D
-
03.03.2009 - 19:34 | Erinaceus - About That Bridge...
... That rickety old bridge they hid under during the first tornado. There is a myth that, in spite of the best efforts of meteorologists to educate and inform us, is still perpetuated to this day that bridges are safe to hide under in a tornado.
I think the National Weather Service realized the stupidity of having the tornado-grading system be the same as the command functions of a qwerty keyboard... so they recently reworked the scale. It's now EF-1, EF-2 and so forth.
Most kids aspire to be policemen, firefighters, or sports stars. I wanted to be, no lie, a weatherman, and as an aspiring weatherman in my youth, though impressed I was with the special effects, I found this film to be as implausible as microwaving popcorn with a cellphone. It's a decent popcorn flick, but any movie that involves launching cat toys into 250+ mph winds as its backbone is not going to make anyone's top 10 favorites list.
