05.16.2008 - 05:45 | MattatoYou gotta admit that command center stage set was pretty sweet at least.
I have fond nostalgia of this movie because I was a Rangers kid for the longest time. I mean sure, it's a flaming piece of crap now, but I was amazed by this movie when I was 6.

04.04.2010 - 11:41 | sam29It was a flaming piece of crap back then too, you just didn't notice. :)

i agree power rangers back in the day were great but now i think its its more about pop culture and less about a story and lesson and then i saw they were remaking it im like cool i got all nostalgic and then i saw the raging shit hole it was turned into i wanted to bitch slap fox in the balls but since i couldn't i just screamed NOOOOO!!! and got on with my life

05.23.2008 - 13:42 | evilunclefrankFor what it's worth, the Power Rangers movie DOES have a kickass soundtrack. Devo AND They Might Be Giants each contributed a new song, and TMBG's "Sensurround" is probably their best song ever.

05.26.2008 - 16:06 | NightingaleI was never a power-ranger person myself, just the cornyness of the whole thing drove me nuts.
yet my brother loved it, he never stopped watching it until i told him that they were just actors in suits, he headbutted me and ran to his room crying, them not being real was just to much for a 21 year old to take in...

05.26.2008 - 18:52 | SaveALemming"Fuck this, man. I'm gonna go into anime" is one of the greatest semi-obscure references you could make that ensures people they are my new best friend.
I too have always loved the "Oh, the things I've missed!" bit, but no references to Ivan Ooze being Belloq? He unleashed the wrath of God!
I also always loved the back and forth with the construction workers and the.... bullies. "Hey, Dave! Come have a look at this!" "Go on, Dave."
Ah, what a wonderful crappy movie.

05.27.2008 - 06:27 | Rebel217I never noticed the stereotyping with the first black and yellow ranger until I saw this vid. Damn, Kimberly was like the hottest pink ranger ever.

God bless my parents for putting up with this shit so I could retain some idea of happiness as a child.
Even as a little kid though, that fight between the Rangers and Ooze was bull. It was as anticlimactic as the fight between Shredder and Splinter in the Ninja Turtles movie. Or at least comes close. The fights in the show were better, which is NOT a sentence I say often.

You were born early enough to miss the boat; I was a babe of 1990 (the later part even, October) and this shit fell right into my lap before I knew any better. Ooooh the obsession I had. But, my parents were supportive and happy to cater to my first childhood fandom. Probably has to do with them being geeks themselves. And, they have a few fun stories to look back on about the swarming hordes of parents flooding Toys-R-Us at Christmas time fighting to get to the new Power Rangers toys first.

When I look back on it, they picked a bizzare spectrum for the Rangers. Red, blue, yellow... OK, the basic colors, good deal. Pink 'cos she's a girl, and... black? Oh right, because he's black (that was my five-year-old logic before I learned how racist I was).
Then they meet a kick-ass new ranger whose green, but you feel like he's better than the "normal rangers" 'cos he has a mantle and a flute that summons a fuckin' plesiosaur Zord. Then he gets upgraded one day from green to white. Now, this all made sense to me as a small child but now that I look back on it...
Red, blue, yellow: gotcha. Pink and black... I guess I can give you pink, but black? The most evil and disheartening of colors? Why is the green ranger a later addition, why isn't green one of the beginning colors? Black should be a special color like white. And then we get a green ranger, and he becomes white! So now we have the three primaries, pink, white, and black. WHY NO GREEN?! I can understand passing up purple and orange, but that rainbow where they turn into colored energy and teleport just looks wrong.

Haha, I agree NC. This movie is pretty ridiculous. I dun't know if you were asking all those questions at the end because you honestly don't know or if you were just trying to be funny though. I can only honestly answer the first one: The monsters land in the same city cuz' Rita and Zed both know that that's where the Rangers live. Other than that, the rest are a mystery. lol

As a kid who had actually seen the original sentai show Saban ripped off to make power ranger, I can still remember my excitement when I saw the teaser trailers for the Power Rangers TV show. I can also remember how horrified I was that the shows I saw that had some cool drama and sweet action sequences were reduced to...
"No Zordon, not Teenagers!"
t(^_^) Heres to Saban for making all our childhoods just a little bit worse.

06.24.2008 - 00:29 | BlizzardMan that show was gay. Can't believe I used to watch it.
