02.24.2009 - 19:29 | askewman37DUDE, I completely forgot about Grinch Night until now. God that really really freaked me out as a kid :0

AAAHHHHHH. OMG. The PARAPHENELIA WAGON. I totally forgot about that! HOLY. F*CKEN SH*T.
::rocks back and forth, sucking thumb::
Someone, dear God, explain why I am crying.
Also, I started involuntarily crying for the Pink Elephants. I think that something got really messed up in me from those as a kid.
...but dear God...I repressed that stuff from the Grinch Night. D:
Otherwise, this was amazingly done. Mindfuck indeed. Very consistent.

The admin needs to bring back emoticons and spellcheck.
I just noticed something: the word "emoticon" sounds like the name of a Transformer. Think about it. "Ratchet, you stay here with Emoticon while Bulkhead and I go after Soundwave." It's perfect! Or, "Looks like it's up to me and Prowl to hold off the Emoticons."

In one of the seasons of Pee-Wee's playhouse the floor does talk. His name is Floory. Go figure...
-
02.24.2009 - 19:36 | Rhomega...What did you just do to my brain? Who in the world comes up with the stuff, especially the YouTube psychedelic video?

02.25.2009 - 07:13 | Closet80sfanIt was preformed by Cyndi Lauper.
Did you know that Natasha Lyonne appeared on Pee Wee's Playhouse as a young pre-schooler? Also Lawerence Fishborne used to play a regular character on there.(I've always wondered what the hell would he being doing on a weird show like that?)
As for some weird-ass stuff from my childhood honorable mentions go to an episode of "Ren And Stimpy" (Blazing Entrails) when Ren goes into Stimpy's body to figure out why's his mind has shut down. He falls in love and marries a female enzyme in inside Stimpy!
Another one, is "Cool World". Dear God what a terrible movie!( I hope you review it soon Doug!) The story -arc of a "human having sex with a doodle" boy Ralph Baksehi must be a screwed up person! What kinda of drugs does he take to come up with this crap?
And Another one: Liquid TV. I don't know if anyone remembers Liquid TV from the early 1990s. It was a short lived animation showcase series on MTV. That used to have some really creepy and bizzare stuff.
Nice going NC! I can't wait for you to review "Cool World", this is from the guy that Brought us "Traffic" in the 1970s.
-
02.25.2009 - 10:24 | eightiesmanAll I remember from that Liquid TV show is that Beavis and Butt-Head made their mark on MTV with their Pilot Episode "Frog Baseball", to which after that, they got their own TV Show that lasted until 1998, a few Video Games on SNES, Sega Genesis(same name as the show for both SNES and Sega Genesis) and PC(Beavis and Butt-Head in Virtual Stupidity for the PC) and their own Full Length Movie "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America"

Cool World was written as a live-action/animated horror film. The producer, Frank Mancusco, Jr., woke up one day and decided "You know what? This concept is just too good. Call up a couple of screenwriters who have never worked in animation before and have them turn this movie into an incomprehensible piece of crap".
And this is why underground animators should never work with Frank Mancusco, Jr.
(Please buy a T-shirt from Ralph Bakshi's website and support the production of Last Days of Coney Island.)

Yeah, that's a very good list for those... And man were those some messed up moments, I didn't see maybe a couple of those. But the Grinch one definently, and several others, and although I didn't realize quite as much back then... (some did register as 'weird' even then though) Thanks for bringing us the list Doug, and of course showing use some we may not have ever had a chance to see before.

02.24.2009 - 19:47 | MisterCI think my biggest childhood mindfucks would have to be Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure, the Pink Elephant sequence, Felix the Cat: The Movie, The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat (that cat is definitely messed up) and the entire last 20 minutes or so of The Three Caballeros.
And by the way, Toaster is my favorite number of all time, except for Police Baton and Dog Vomit.
