This is one of my favorite Nostalgia Critic videos. I especially liked the end. Wow, great job.

There is no physical way you could've seen the whole thing at this time. You just wanted first comment. Fortunately, you failed.
  • dragon_tamer222  - Technically...
Technically, he could've. I watched on on Blip before he even put it up here, so if I was around when it was posted, I could've commented first. I'm just slow on the uptake it seems XD

Sure- and thats why he goes into that much detail about it!

"Man i love what the NC done in his review he made 2016- he does such a funny thing there!"

U see. I got the first comment years from now, AFTER watching it!! :D

That simple and lame as u can get.

Seen better writing from my ABC cerials! -.-

My sister told me she and her husband actually brought this film, saw it and immediately afterwards returned it to the store and got a refund.

I remember the trailer for this fucking movie! Thank god I didn't see it.
  • Jimbocoles  - Great review
I hated this movie since day one and I'm sick of people using the "it's just a kids movie" excuse for sloppy film-making. Dana Carvey is a funny comedian and a great impressionist but he flat-lined his career with this monstrosity.
  • LikaLaruku
    avatar
"It's for kids" should never be an okay excuse for utter stupidity. I swear to gawd the crap they make for kids just rots their brains away & makes them dumber.

    Laugh innings:
    Doug: 10.
    Brent Spiner: 3.
    Rachael: 3.
    Malcolm: 1.
    Dustin Diamond: 1.
    Harold Gould: 0.
    Dana Carvey: In the negatives.

I really loved this film as a kid, and even then I knew it was a horrible, terrible comedy film, let alone the worst of the century.

Maybe it's the fact that some of the jokes were aware of how dumb the premise was, and they really jabbed at the fact that they weren't anywhere as creative as the writing team on the Austin Powers movies, even.

Which is sad to state. This movie is anti-comedy at it's best and a massive pile of shit for the most part, which is the biggest compliment I could ever give a film of it's stature. It doesn't drive me mad, but god if I can't come to terms with the fact that I once liked it. I still even quote a few lines from time to time...

"This is what you are doing! :U "
"This is what I want you to do! :| "

It's such a goofy movie when you ignore the fact that Carvey is pure comedic repellent. It took the side characters to give the film even a modicum of good, or at least passable jokes. They play off Carvey better than he plays off them.
  • Weeny8888  - ...

    Turtle boy is kinda creepy.
  • Trogdor
    avatar
I have a turtle, and so I can tell you with certainty that turtles do not walk around saying 'turtle'.
  • BoboMcGraw
    They say 'cowabunga'.
  • SpeedyEric  - About time this is reviewed
    avatar
I haven't seen this movie, but I've seen it advertised and talked about on Nickelodion when it was coming out. Also, I was More into movies like Spider-Man, Attack of the Clones, Men in Black II, and Lilo & Stitch during the 2002 summer movie season.

I like Dana Carvey ever since hs Garth Elgar days, but I agree that this film is to Dana Carvey what Cat in the Hat was to Mike Myers.

3:12- You think THAT'S bad, it has a 3.1 out of 10 on IMDB.

8:32- He making the same expression a high school geek would make the first time he made whoopy.

I don't blame ya on the Brent Spiner farting thing, Doug. I also laughed the 1t and 3rd time I heard Data make a farty.
    Oh, and also, "Ohhhhhh shit."

15:10- And people are still pissed off on the new Ninja Turtles movie THAT ISN'T EVEN OUT YET!
    15:34- ...Um, ...WHY!?!?!?

23:57- Oh hai, Kenan Thompson cameo.

Rachel is so great in this episode. =D

Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are better masters of disguise than Dana Freakin' Carvey, and this film feels more like a weak mid '90s comedy than a start of the 21st century comedy.

P.S. Please do a review on Superman III. I just rewatched it in preparation for Man of Steel, and it diserves to be reviewed by someone on this site.
  • SpeedyEric
    avatar
Oh, and you forgot to use a certain running joke during the bubble hologram scene.
  • DangerousLoki
The bits with Rachel were awesome. I laughed the hardest at the second part with the sword.

As for the Fart Joke. Why it worked with the first and the third was the timing. The first one was unexpected and his reaction is perfect to it. But the second time you expect it so it doesn't have the delivery. The third time was also the "suprise" of it coming after the laugh. If it were me, and what I expected, was them to play it into his father moment. Have the two Spiners and have him have to figure out which ones the real one.. which would naturally be done with the "Laugh-Fart" joke. Which would have been some good pay off right there.

I will say, I liked Carvey's impression of Robert Shaw from Jaws. That said, was it me or were the woman's measurements just about perfect?

It seems Doug has found a movie he hates more then Dropdead Fred.

At least it wasn't the same level as THEE worst movie he's ever seen. I'm not saying its name.

So you've finally stepped into Adam Sandler territory eh critic? If you thought that this was bad wait until you get to the other movies in the Happy Madison library. It's less like a filmography and more like a rap sheet with such unholy shit piles such as Bucky Larson, Grandmas Boy and of course one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing "Paul Blart Mall Cop" That was honestly one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. Hopefully around the Christmas season we can see you endure Adam Sandlers eight crazy nights. Good luck big boy!
  • mrsdewees  - Hey now
    avatar
I will admit that Happy Madison has put out a lot of crap...

But I totally liked Grandma's Boy. It's not an artistic masterpiece but it makes me laugh and I may quote that movie more than I'm willing to admit. I mean, come on, A CAR BED! It's totally a guilty pleasure.

great review, I still find parts of this film funny. the jaws scene does have one funny line "42 kids go into the water, 12 kids come out the ice cream man gets the rest". So besides some decent fart jokes and the oddity of a cherry pie man that is pretty much the only joke that works for me. I still will watch this film if I want to watch a stupid comedy that needs no brain power to enjoy.
  • movieguy892
    avatar
Yes the fart jokes are the only redeeming quality in this thing.

I swear I can feel Doug's pain through my computer monitor. It actually hurts. Poor boy...

I can see how this would be torture - especially for someone like him who's not only studied film, but comedy. To see a movie fail on so many counts has got to be, to quote Doug from another review, like "crawling across a street of broken glass on my belly with my fly open, only to be greeted by a pack of rabid wolverines who only want to eat me, but rape me..."

(And did anyone else get freaked out when he busts out with that baseball bat while laughing? Doug, please don't ever do that again.)
  • Elphaba645
    avatar
I did, that was freaking scary. But I cracked up when he said, "where was I the last two minutes?"
  • BaltoStephenWinter  - Best two minutes of my life.

Oh, the future reaction videos that will use the "insanity scene".
  • tomrule123
Wait... Garth Algar from Wayne's World is the star and co-writer of this schlock?! ... what the fuck.

Wait, 1%? WHY ISN'T THIS 0%! That 1%: to Prairie Miller: you're too fucking generous for being an idiot to be part of the fresh 1%.

    And... ST:TNG's Data's in this? ... FUUUUUU-
"He sneaks into the bad guy's hideout as a cherry pie... hopefully that's the only cherry Dana Carvey's ever popped..." ... I can't think of a better reaction to how awesome that line was. All of my wins.
  • SpeedyEric
    avatar
You think THAT'S bad, it has a 3.1 out of 10 on IMDB.
  • tomrule123
... mainly referring to Rotten Tomatoes, but oh great, more than one can be too fucking gener-
There are actually people out there that didn't think the film's that bad, isn't there?
    (notices some 10's in IMDB)
    ... hoping they're trollin'...
  • Yobikir
    avatar
it hasn't 0% because of the fart jokes, obviously
  • Plotspider  - 0%

The 0% is reserved for Garbage Pail Kids and Ghoulies 2, I think. I know GPK was 0% last I checked.

I'll be honest and say as a kid I really liked this movie... well the first and second time watching it, because I thought it was random and I liked random. But now find it to be just stupid nonsense, and I feel embarrassed I liked such a bad comedy. I know Dana Carvey is funny and feel sad that this may indeed have killed him.

(honestly though, Italy Veneziano is a more convincing Italian, and he's MEANT to be a stereotype)
  • tomrule123
Those who first liked it and later on ended up hating it would be forgiven.
  • trashboy
    Rachel's hot. :)
  • Zandrous

HA! That was almost Monty Python like animation stuff with the Happy Madison building bombing. That brought a few tears to my eyes. Great job all around the board guys. This 30 minute video was funnier than a single fucking joke in that movie. God DAMN is that thing horrible. Looking forward to the next movie and more great cameos by the NC cast.
  • robheisel
    avatar
When, I was a kid. I thought it was funny. But as and adult, I will agree it is a pretty dumb movie.
  • javi
    avatar
You're not alone robheisel. But the one thing I never found funny about this movie, even as a kid, and even watching this one part of the trailers, was the turtle scene. Even Dana Carvay admitted in an interview on Nickelodeon that the turtle scene was his favorite moment. I was hoping that the NC would rip that scene apart, and he did a fantastic job!

    As for Data, why?
  • Weeny8888  - Sheesh
    avatar
Yeah kids think that stuff are funny. but when they get older they think what the heck? O3O.. AND I'M ALL LIKE ikr and there all like WHO?
  • marlyonama
I've never seen nor heard of it when it came out, maybe it was so bad that it didn't last. And I'm glad I didn't.
  • Gaurinn
