Wow, that first show sucks. Makes me not regret growing up without satellite or cable. If that kind of stuff was on TV, well, that sucks. Ah, the childhood trauma I have managed to escape. *sings* "Shut the fuck uuuuuuuup...* Priceless. As always, I loved this review. I especially love the comment about coffee turning into the milk.lol.
I'm really looking forward to the next review now. Should be hilarious.

The Tomorrow People was a remake of a 1970s series...and then there were actually a few remakes of it..
quote from wikipedia haha
"The Tomorrow People is a children's science fiction television series, devised by Roger Price which first ran between 1973 and 1979. The show was re-imagined between 1992 and 1995, this time with Roger Price as executive producer. A third incarnation that ran between 2001 and 2007 saw a return to the original conception and characters, but this time produced as a series of audio plays by Nigel Fairs for Big Finish Productions. All three incarnations have been cancelled mid-run."yeahhh...lol..ok I've researched this memory enough..good ole memories xD
i'm done.

I remember it. I loved that show as a kid.
Anyway, I wonder what Mr. Briner going to think with the negative review of Good Burger...

01.20.2009 - 15:43 | HeartOfSorrow - All that
My favorite part of this video was the All That part, but, I have on small question. Why didn't you say anything about Kenan's Superdude character? That was my favorite part of the show.

Man I Figured that you would end on the game shows, but Good Burger?.....If you say so. I was hoping you did the game shows just so I could see your review of Nick arcade(which I did project on back in high shcool) I'm sure you could rip on that pretty good. This is the best month ever... aside from suede leaving

ugh. dude, Chester A Bum is not funny at all. These NICK videos should either be reviews or be funny, but you're trying to be both and it's not working. The last video was especially sub-par. Can't wait till you get back to the shitty movies.

I remember Good Burger. I remember liking it when it came out and I was 9, but if there's anything the NC has taught me is not to take those good memories for granted, like with the Tom and Jerry movie.

Awwwww, sucks that you won't be able to comment on Nicks other game shows becides Double Dare. I was looking forward to that....
However, I was wondering when you where going to review Good Burger (if ever). I remember watching that movie many ago, after after when it first came out on video and my parents rented it for me. And from what I remember that movie was...er....well....I think your screaming was self explanitory.

Wow, was that really a young Jewel Staite at 5
0? Uh...not that the NC didn't make it obvious in the vid, but..eh, I'll shut up. :'(

Yeah, scary stories around a campfire only really scare you when you are actually around a campfire in the great outdoors. Anywhere else is bound to ruin the effect, because it isn't the story that is so scary, its the fact that you are in the freaking wilderness AT NIGHT! You can't top that in a studio, not with all the (cheezy) special effects in the world.
The others... well, the first looked a lot like the improv acting class I once took, only with break dancers. Actually, the people in that class could be genuinely funny at times, so I guess the comparison is a little off. In fact, that's about all I can say about most of these: child actors learning by doing, and sucking at it because of the writing staff supposedly supplying them material. There is some A material, but mostly its wasted talent.

I couldn't possibly hope to convey why I thought Roundhouse was entertaining, but it was. Maybe I was just young and I wanted one of those chairs that one guy moved around in. Maybe it was the fact that it was done on the cheap and yet it was a live performance show, maybe the dancing impressed me. Hell, I don't know, but I loved it.
And Are You Afraid of the Dark I'll say is creepy if not scary for a little kid, at least. Now they could do scary clowns, or that episode with the short guy painted silver who could download himself into you, or the aliens who couldn't stand noise... Just some creepy stuff for little kids.

Alright, I'll be honest. Not as funny as the last two. Still really INTERESTING though, and I watch these reviews as much for that as the comedy. After all, he's called the NOSTALGIA Critic, not the "Funny Angry Rants" Critic. It is okay to be more about the actual nostalgia factor.
Although HOW DARE YOU call Good Burger the worst thing Nickelodeon has ever produced when Spongebob and the new Hotel For Dogs exist? HOW DARE YOU?!

Theres a tv channel called nick-gas, if you know anyone who gets it you can record the footage for all their old game shows, including guts, that temple show, the nick arcade show, and a whole lot others.

I think it's mostly gone, at least in America. I think Nick replaced that channel with a dedicated Noggin or something.

01.20.2009 - 16:07 | Erinaceus - ... Roundhouse...
I try to forget "Roundhouse". But that guy with the P.A. Speaker over his head haunts my dreams for some reason. Some of my least favorite shows as a kid always find a way back into my memory through my dreams... it's like a back-door into the annals of my mind...
I always considered "Are You Afraid of the Dark" less to be a kidified version of "Tales From the Crypt" and more Nickelodeon's counter to R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps", which, now that I'm thinking about it, may have already been airing on Nick at the time. So why the hell was this show necessary? It's not like it did anything risque for the Snick demographic...
... But at least it was able to entertain us, even though the acting was more wooden than a shed. I'm just glad no careers were launched from...
GASP! Is that Jewell Staite? You mean to tell me that one of my favorite science fiction actresses began her career on this show? I mean, I remember her in "Space Cases", but finding her in this backwater, well, to quote my personal acting coach, this revelation makes me go "WHOA".
Yep, I liked "All That", even though it was in retrospect very hit-and-miss with its comedy. That obesse actress was downright obnoxious, but Keenan and Kel deserved their spin-off, and that little girl's H. Ross Perot is still my all-time favorite political impersonation, better than anything Darrel Hammond or Will Ferrell brought to the table. Although, Tina Fey's Sarah Palin probably will top Perot when I look back in 10 more years...
... I said before that Keenan and Kel deserved their spin-off, it's just a shame their writers were unable to make said spin-off funny. This one definitely disappoints as I look back on it without the nostalgia-colored glasses. I'm glad Keenan has moved onto SNL, but disappointed that Kel isn't on it with him.
Anyway, great review, and even though I actually like "Good Burger" (we all have our guilty pleasures), I hope you tear it a new one next week.

Come on man! How many of us asked for Space Cases? HOW MANY? I know for a fact that was a Snick show. Don't tell me you were too old for Nickelodeon. I don't know how old you are, but I haven't seen that show in so long, I can't remember a lot of it, and you're reading the words of a guy who can remember the plot (thought not titles, which maybe is unfair since you have to start saying what it's about...) of most episodes of Stargate SG-1, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and The Next Generation having seen the episodes only once.
