I hope that Linkara saves the day in his totally kickass spaceship! :D
I absolutely disagree with you, Nostalgia Critic! LordKat would have looked amazing in that outfit!
You know what would have made that plot hole absolutely huge? If you had mentioned Rob becoming a dinosaur! I mean, how in the heck did he even become a dinosaur in the first place!
So in the end, the critic universe became its own reality.
PS: Epilogue
..and from that day forth, Spoony gained a new perspective on life, sadly, this perspective was clouded with Absolute Maltese Hatred when JO dismissed him and that in-depth conversation they were having at (39:44) to take that call from Nash, which led him to be eventually dismissed from the site (Even though he's still 10 MegaFonzies/ countermonkeys cool).
Sage became a dancer! As exhibited by his cray cray cool dance moves at that big low budget independent film coke party!
Lupa, that cold hearted ginger harpy, quickly dumped Todd, breaking his poor virgin heart, for Jesus Phelous.
Jesu(Ed)taku's split personality led her to make Nash's life tragically hilarious! (While making Saturday Night 'Choose Your Own Adventure' book time much more exciting.)
Cinema Snob could never find any women that would take their clothes off for his new film. He finally had to resort to having shirtless 8 bit mickey appear in multiple shots with different colored wigs.
JewWario learned how to play the fiddle!
Nostalgia Chick and Linkara ended up starting their own feminism website! It, alongside The 'Jezebel', have become bastions of the internet for the modern contemporary woman! :D
Rob sent Holly to Wales to deliver a Pink Slip to Sad Panda.
The Last Angry Geek's twin brother, who acted and looked just like him, ended up making Comic Book Issues his own show, alongside with his Doctor Who 'You Know Who' Review Show. He's currently the most popular contributer on TGWTG.
Handsome Tom became the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings.
Angry Joe and Marzgurl became co-owners of a successful chain of El Pollo Loco restaurants in South Texas.
Welshy died of blissful happiness at the thought of finally being in a TGWTG special. Diamanda Hagan brought him back to life, killing thousands of minions in the process, in order to do a commentary. This commentary led Diamanda Hagan to discover the true meaning of Christmas. She eventually returned all of Kyle's missing organs due to her heart growing three sizes larger than it normally had been.
And no one ever mentioned That SciFi Guy ever again! The End!

It was alright, I didn't hate it, but I doubt I'll watch it again. I really liked both the 1st and 2nd year movies, but not the 3rd and 4th.
Personally, I would rather have had one NC ep, then this whole 8 part movie.
It had too many references to other things, nothing really felt original about it. As Film Brain said in his review of Epic Movie, "References aren't jokes!"
This is just my opinion, if you loved this, that's great, I would never want to take that away from anyone.
Though Kyle stole ep. 7 with his dancing, I loved that, haha.

I was actually really, really psyched up with the first three episodes. They were funny and I was delighted that they finally also had a story to work with, not to mention how the whole premise felt very promising with all the dark overtones and everything...
Then as it went on, it became less and less focused, with the script too preoccupied with finding ways to put the characters into cosplay and making childish spoofs of Star Wars and Star Trek than to actually make proper sense, and around the sixth part everything just started falling apart.
It was still way, waaaaaaay better than Suburban Knights and quite entertaining, but I still say that Kickassia was the most consistently great anniversary to this day.

That's exactly how I felt about Kung Fu Panda 2.
Although personally, I don't think To Boldly Flee had any jarring tonal shifts, just a slightly inconsistent tone that rarely maximized either the comedic or dramatic potential of its scenes. Unfortunately.
Both movies are quite good, regardless, and I love seeing all these people being crazy together. I'll probably buy the DVD. I want to hear the commentary and whatnot, though I'm curious how they'll reconcile this movie's theme of 'No Critic Left Behind, because we're a TGWTG family' with...well... you know what. It made that last scene a little uncomfortable, that's all.

This movie is not supposed to be compared to the standard cinema.
This movie is not another project of the studios in Hollywood to make money.
They are not professional actors, with no professional equipment, or experience in movie making, yet they did a remarkable job.
Do all of you, critics of the critics, think that you can accomplish such a project by yourselves?
This movie, even if it used many references from other movies, was very creative and very enjoyable to watch, and its for free...
I lost hope from current mainstream entertainment. I hope for such productions to increase in numbers and ultimately in quality.
Great job Doug, and all you guys. Don't Stop!!!

Wow how did a somewhat negative review actually make it here?? Usually they would remove the comment and banhammer you lol.
I was impressed by the CG animation considering its TGWTG. The music was generally very good (except that Distraction song, jesus that was awful). The acting with some of the characters has really improved and I was very impressed how each character had some sort of real role to the plot.
Overall the TGWTG team really upped their game but i though the story was a tad cheesy and a bit melodramatic for my taste.
-
10.08.2012 - 19:21 | BloodrealmWhat are you talking about, Distraction is GLORIOUS!
And of course it's a tad cheesy and melodramatic, it's a comedy/drama that both celebrates and makes fun of things that are cheesy and/or melodramatic. Besides, it's not even a TENTH as over-melodramatic as everythign else is, these days.

yeah, like Linkara said, the Critic's hat has always been more squareish than a baseball cap
oh, btw Linkara, if Doug is seriously doing this whole "no more Nostalgia Critic" thing, then i guess it looks like your comic reviews are gonna be the only reason I come to this site now....no offense to the other reviewers, but it's just my tastes. I'm not really into a lot of what everyone else does. it's always been just NC and Linkara for me.......and now that NC has supposedly decided to stop, (and really? his last official episode is Scooby Doo? it's not like he's run out of movies, I see people giving requests all the friggin time), I guess now it's just Linkara. but that's ok I guess, I really love his story arcs. speaking of which, Mechakara IS going to come back eventually right? he's been destroyed three times now, I think that pretty much means he'll always be coming back.
P.S. also, WHY THE HELL WEREN'T THERE ANY MASS EFFECT REFERENCES IN THIS????? JOE, BACK ME UP!

I still call BS on that. I mean, okay, we don't really know just how advanced/powerful Terl's ship was, but Comicron-1 was the flagship of a multiversal conqueror with a temporal shield! I demand an apology written in seventeen languages for this outrageous disregard of power-levels! D:
...
Eh, I kid, it's just a minor thing.
By the way, if we are at minor things: No, it's "Terl" not "Turrell", he just can't spell his own name because he was trained to conquer galaxies instead of spelling.

at the very end when it showed the hole and NC saying "I am the Nostalgia Critic" for a split second I suspected they were parodying the extended Control ending from ME3, but it wasn't. and then that's what made me realize there weren't any ME references at all in the whole damn movie. which surprises me, as I would have expected Angry Joe to dress up as Shepard....although him as Solid Snake doing the box joke was pretty funny.

I think it was a ref to Akira, and more like he's out there somewhere, still part of it all.
And what happened with Benzaie? Why did we see so little of him?
And I don't quite get it, did they plan to start phasing things out from here on in? They keep throwing out that this is the end, and I suppose it is in one way, with Spoony separate from TGWTG things won't ever been the same again, but they keep talking that this is the last one.
Maybe I'm just missing something, but I can't help but wonder is Doug moving on to other things or something?
Anyhow, absolutely awesome guys! Hilarious! I think this is probably my favourite anniversary so far. Excellent job.
Congrats on the ending of an era. Let us see what's ahead...

Ok... That was odd...
So, I'm guessing my thoughts on the Scooby-Doo review was correct Doug is retiring or taking a hiatus?
I liked all the stuff dealing with space and parodies and all ok but the Critic in the real world meeting himself thing was a bit much.
I still say it'd been cool if they gave Zod the superman powers hell it'd been really cool to seen him and MechaKara fighting in the background or inter cut with the space battle if you had them fighting like something out of a comicbook movie or something! You know both with laser eyes trying the burn each other's faces off or slamming each other around with super strength! Hell you could've made fun of the slow-mo effects in movie by having them fight at super speed!
I do think it's an unique way o setting it up now no one has to keep a strict canon anymore!
I HATE to say it but if you re-edited the ending bits you could've had a good and some what pleasing heroic out for Spoony, but no it's kind of bitter sweet ending that's made even more depressing!
I do like the Akira joke didn't try to bring in any of that Amoebas stuff! Speaking of Akira I love the callout to it's ending with the flashes of light in this case a new "plot hole" with a character calling his name! I wasn't sure if the critic seen Akira!
I am also kinda relieved like some that ya'll did fight the urge to do the "Luke I'm your Father" joke!
I was expecting some one else as the Gort looking guy!
So is there like an even longer cut of this!?

09.13.2012 - 17:10 | RostafaBTW, WHY HASN'T CHESTER A. BUM OR ASK TGWTG MADE A CAMEO???? EPIC FAIL!!!!!
-
09.13.2012 - 19:36 | cvrpapc
Because Doug has moved past that shit. He doesn't need to cameo his other characters for a cheap joke.
Best of all, he made a overall great tribute to his pals and a great ending for a character who redeemed himself. Allowing them to shine a bit and making way for new stuff.
I really hope this isn't the last film we see from Mr. Walker who really can show his stuff when he tries.
Part 8 was great. The film, while it has its small flaws (to much slap stick and star wars) was very good. All the threads came together in the end and that isn't easy to do. Gorgous soundtrack! Great acting. The editing was REALLY great. I'm sure it took hours. Thanks so much for giving us a little free entertainment!
peace XD
