I would've been so happy going through my life never knowing that this horrible Star Wars-ripoff piece of shit was never made. They raped my mind now. D:
Oh yeah, and there's their version of Navi, too.
    Fuck.

Holy Shit what a Star Wars rippoff. Whatever rock we were all under by not knowing this existed was a rock worth living under. But since it looks absolutely disgusting, I'm surprised the forum trolls didn't defend it like the other trash they've been defending.

I’d say that’s it’s about time that Doug reviews an animated movie with Bennett, especially something I’ve never heard of. From the look of selected scenes in the opening, it looks like an animated Star Wars clone.
8:07- Ha. What do you know, I was right.

I don’t have a big problem with 3-D like some other person on the site (cough Angry Joe cough).

7:05- He looks like if the thoughts and memories of Victor Zsasz from Batman were transferred into the neural net processor of a T-800.

I’m sharing Doug’s same expression at the Garbage Pail Kids moment. Anytime “Garbage Pail Kids” is even mentioned, my brain just wants to vomit.

9:58- Why aren’t trolls giving Star Wars a break, and bash the hell on this remake instead? BTW, a Star Chaser remake? Nope. Will NEEEEEEVER happen.

This movie is also using the sound effects from Star Wars. If you listen closely, you can tell that the laser gun sounds are from those of the Stormtrooper blaster, and Not-Han’s ship engine sounds are that of… GUESS!

There’s a big reason why Han didn’t …slap Leia’s ass to get her interested in him. George Lucas didn’t want to scare his audience out of the theatre.

17:51- That’s how I felt while trying to watch the craptasterpiece that is “Bad Santa” on late night Comedy Central.

22:07- And I can see that this film was only made just to make a quick buck without any care for what it’s ripping off.

Thanks guys for ripping this film a new one, and thank god I never heard about this film while I was growing up. It‘s so bland and forgetable. Also, I had a feeling you would do a Raiders of the Story Ark of “Transformers: Generation 1” Good luck, and may the Force be with us all.

(Man, I like to comment talking alot, don't I?)

I've been waiting for this too but for a different reason I've actually seen and love this movie and yes it's a complete Star Wars knockoff!

I'd love to have seen this movie in 3D back in the 80s!

7:05-Wow, that was the nerdiest comment I've ever read! BRAVO!!!

Wanta hear a secret? They're currently planning a new Garbage Pale Kids movie... a CGI one too! Mwahahahahaha!!

9:58-What I'd actually like to see this remade in live action as Star Wars is slowly getting worse this could only get better!

Only Star Wars sound effect they've got copyrights on are the Lightsabers and Vader's breathing!

Nooo, it's because she'd shot him!

    17:51- I didn't care for Bad Santa...

22:07- Isn't that all movies ever made?

I actually loved this movie! I saw it on TV years ago on HBO late at night!
I could tell it was a blatant Star Wars knockoff but I didn't care I like the animation and the mythology to it! You skipped over a lot of scenes I'm sure for time like them blowing up a bunch of people in the dessert scenes! And the slave auction!
I'm so happy ya'll finally reviewed this! I've been requesting you, Marzgurl, and Sage to review this since I started watching ya'll 2-3 years ago!
The reason the Sword doesn't work but half the time and not for the villain at all is because basically only good can use it or the fact it has the spirits in it of past users who know when to let it work and not to! It knew not to kill Dag because he was technically good, but worked for that cyborg because it knew it'd help Orin escape by doing so!
I'm so surprised no mention of the fact the writer and I think director of this movie was related to the 3 Stooges and was a kid cameo in their skits! Also the reason they took the fembot was they were using her as a "human"shield when fleeing but the other robots couldn't shoot strait just like the Stormtroopers so she wasn't marked by it or hit! "What I'd actually like to see this remade in live action as Star Wars is slowly getting worse this could only get better!" What is that even supposed to mean? :D

I still like this movie. I actually only recently discovered this film on Youtube. I still think it's worth a watch. If anything you'll get a few good laughs pointing out what exactly they ripped from Star Wars.

Another thing I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone post how Zygon is like Mula Ram from "Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom"(1984)*cough*

I will say the blandest character is the Princess. She is about as interesting as an old shoelace.

    @ Doug
Now that you have gotten into the realm obscure-ish animated movies.

    "Wizards" (1977) by Ralph Bakshi

Think Tarsem level of symbolism. "Ask me what it means! Ask me what it means!"

Although don't worry Doug, if I hated you I'd recommend "Fritz the Cat" (1972).

    @ Sage
Devilish as always I applaud you sir. Have you considered a Cross-over with CR? If so might I suggest:

"Fire and Ice" (1983) by Ralph Bakshi

Both fans of the curvaceous cheesecake, both introspective, hilarious, and a swords & sorcery adventure. How does one lose in such a situation?

"Fritz The Cat" and "Wizards" sounds like something either Cinema Snob or Diamanda Hagan would review to be honest.

In fact, that wouldn't be that bad a recommendation to give to either of them.
  • SkullCap  - ladydiskette

Brad would be perfect for "Fritz the Cat" because its full of cartoon animal porn. No seriously it has threesomes, interracial sex, bdsm, orgies, etc. It also stars probably the biggest pretentious douchebag character in animation, "Fritz the Cat."

"Fritz the Cat" is the result of combining Glen Quagmire, Heathcliff the cat, and the most unbearably pretentious liberal arts student.

Say, you don't happen to be Ralph Bakshi, are you?

I don't think even Ralph Bakshi would recommend "Fritz the Cat" to someone.

Why aren't people bashing this instead of Star Wars? Probably because knock-off films don't have as much cultural impact as the films they are knocking off. Doi! Star Wars has a HUGE legacy to live up to in just three films and in just ONE they were fucked over and aside from the Gendy Tartikovski Clone Wars, every film and cartoon series since has plunged Star Wars deeper and deeper into Jabba the Hutt's festering anus. THAT is why. Nobody really CARES about films made to ride the coat tails of a cultural phenomenon.
  • Extreme-Madness  - -_-

Wait, wait ... "Bad Santa" (with Billy Bob Thornton, I guess) is craptasterpiece, and it says someone who thinks Michael Bay's Transformer Trilogy, and Star Wars prequels were good movies, I mean really ...?
I do not think "Bad Santa" is some kind of masterpiece (but certainly not a bad movie).

Holy crap, this looks like a - no, it IS a animated rip-off of Star Wars. And Zygon looks like the devil robot from Futurama!

Mostly due to the fact that I can watch the scenes in this here review without having to upchuck my supper.

yeah compared to the other garbage they released, it's good. I can at least acknowledge that rotoscoping takes some effort, at least more effort than "motion comics"...

Dammit, this looked like something I would've reviewed-- if I had even known it existed! It's rare to find a cartoon from the 80s that I have somehow overlooked. I'm a little bit flabbergasted, here.

Bennett terrifies me! The bit with the lotion actually had me cowering until, well, the end of the break.

Yeah, the animation in this film was pretty impressive, but man does it look stupid! And it surprises me sometimes how ripoffs like these get past the radar, not to mention the creepy robot stuff that didn't get past the censors. Can't unsee!

I look forward to the Raiders of the Story Arc of the show I never watched :D.

"The way to a woman's heart is through her butt."

Fuck, so that's what I've been doing wrong.

You gotta love cheesy 1980s sci-fi fantasies. People have told me about this one but I've never gotten around to seeing it. I just might have to now that I've seen robot assplay. Hilarious.

Oh, and the whole cigar thing. I don't know what it is with Hollywood and cigar munching. So many movies where there's a tough guy who stands around with a cigar in his mouth but never ever lights it. Chuck Norris in FIREWALKER and Van Damme in DOUBLE IMPACT come to mind. Apparently it's that way in animated films, too.

I had never heard of this movie before seeing the review.

I looked it up on IMDB and noticed it was written by Jeffrey Scott, a writer who inserted Scientology messages into Muppet Babies episodes.
    http://www.reocities.com/ TimesSquare/Realm/4173/ scott.html

Also, the woman who voiced the "interchangeable love interests" is also a Scientologist.

I find it funny that when the site first started a few years ago, the NC always seemed to be controlling the other members like a puppeteer or something (like in the DBZ review). However, now it seems like he is more scared of the other members or they are controlling him, possibly because they kicked his but in Molossia

The people who made this made The Garbage Pail Kids? ...No wonder I started to like this.

...Really? No "DO A BARREL ROLL!" joke?

Ever noticed that the 1st love interest (Olon/Alon/Olan/Alan) looks like Emily from "Little Bear"?

This flick reminds me of "Johnny Quest," Hanna-Barbera's attempt at making an animated TV movie that's just as serious and exciting as any live-action piece.

I can see how "Star Chaser" can have a fanbase: It has the underlying potential to be a good movie. But as the Critic said, the writers were lazy and there were too many similarities to Star Wars.

You have to admit, even diehard Star Wars fans would rather trade Jar Jar Binks for a fembutt any day.

12:45 were they serious?? Don't open the butt hatch, we'll get robot shit.

    15:46 "establishing shot, what's that?"

19:30 "ohboyohboy I hope it is candy. that is not candy."

wow how lazy. space jesus wins the day.

Saw this earlier, while on blip... Awesome review, and having seen the movie before, I have to agree with the Nostalgia Critic's opinions on it's weirdness and it's blatant ripping-off of Star Wars. Watching it is not a pleasant experience.

YES! Cheesy 80's sci-fi schlock! I am SO THERE.

As for this movie: whut. What is this I don't even. But I really like the animation, and the character designs of the creepy... things. I'd probably watch this sometime, actually. A bland, blatant, freakish ripoff, sure, but it could be good for an 80's Schlock night or something. Give a small prize to the guest that comes up with the funniest riff! Make a drinking game out of it: take a drink when something is ripped off from Star Wars. Everyone will be sloshed halfway through the movie.

When I heard '...3D is the gatekeeper to good quality', I thought for sure that there would be a cameo of Spoony as the Gaaaatekeepaaah.

Holy Hell,I had forgotten about Starchaser...

I always get this flick mixed up with Gandahar (a similar -but much superior- sci fi animated flick from the mid 80s).

Goddamn,if you took away some of the FX you'd swear this was a poor copy of a 70s Ralph Bakshi movie. This and Message From Space are probably the most blatant SW rip-offs (at least Star Crash had some original ideas). Still, this is not an unwatchable 80s mess like Felix The Cat.
