Lana...as in Lana Lang?
First off why is it that they had the two women going after Superman/Clark Kent with similar sounding names?
I never understood that....
Speaking of two woman going after the same man....WAIT!WAIT!WAIT! WHAT!?!?! LOIS AND LEX WERE DATING!?!?! ACJHLJDHFLAJK! WHEN!!?!? WHERE!?!? HOW!?!? WHY!?!?! I mean....sorry for the caps but how is it I am only finding THIS information out in the animated series and not beforehand, was this made up for the animated series or is this piece of tidbit in canon with the Superman comic-verse!!??!!
I have to know! o.o

The double Ls is a thing in the Superman stories! Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, Lon-El, ect.
Mostly why they say for aliteration in comics back in the day was so kids could easily remember the characters names and where they were from... and Stan Lee claims it was so he could keep up with all his characters.
Well, I think LEx/Lois thing was a more modern thing. I don't know about mainstream universe but in a lot of alterante realities they do hook up but these are alternate world where either Lex is good or Superman is evil or on a different side that might not be bad but is oposed to Lois's side. Like Superman Red Son!

That's what I thought this was at 1st a top 10 of episodes of the Superman series! Maybe later I guess!
I grew up watching the Reeve movies on Friday night movie shows on local broadcast channels and I think I was watching Lois and Clark before this show came along!
2:45-Yep, I'm shocked no mention of the little fellow!
That would've been awesome if he could've greenscreened himself next to her dressed as Zod in pain from her singing!
5:09-I liked Judge Dredd!
6:56-What no Smallville joke!?
7:27-I'd like to point out a good reason why not here! There's a little SA called "Man of Steel, Woman of Cleanex"!
7:41-3 times just today!
9:33-but, where can I buy nooses at!?
10:18-It's a freaking ED209!!!
11:00-What no Finnal Destanation jokes!? You know because Supes saved her here is why Death is always after her now!
11:48-Wow, she can see at different angles then the picture was taken at!!
Oh, come on you all know the halfassed hidden adult humor was part of these shows' charms!
This was handled alot better than the Superman referince in Batman and Robin movie!
13:05-Me too!! Also, Man of Steel could turn out to be total crap and it'd still be a Billion times better than Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. I wait since the freaking 90s for a new cooler Superman movie and I got emo-superman and him catching an airplane as the only "cewl" effect!
13:55-One of my favorite characters in the series and was actually hoping to see him in the movies someday that or Cyborg Superman! Or a combanation of the 2!
14:11-Dammit, that's why you don't cheap out on henchmen!
14:53-Goddammit!!! They're using the walking sound effect from RoboCop 2!!! I'm not shitting you that's the exsact same sound effects of the evil RoboCop from the 2nd movie! Just give him some Nuke and let him trip balls and he'll leave you aloan!
15:00-Yep, she's female alright!
15:13-Didn't work I'm still enjoying it!
16:58-Clancy Brown's voice is the best though they should've stuck with him as the Lex voice in all those even the ones not cannon with the series! Any other voice just doesn't work for me!
17:24-That was actually quite brutal and creepy there! Almost reminds me of the Doc Ock awakening in the hospital scene in Spider-Man 2!
I've wanted to collect them all on DVD but damn they're exspincive and harder and harder to find on eBay!
18:23-I've been requesting him to review this movie since I started watching his reviews! I actually loved this movie when they'd show in on Cartoon Network and Disney every once in awhile! I'm just curious of how he got to see it or got the footage for the review since it's never gotten a legal release in the states outside old VHS tapes! I'd love to own it for Nostalgia sake! ...

Doug didn't mention Krypto aside from being "Just a dog" because it sounded like he had never heard of the character.
I thought it was a cute cameo.
Yet I'm now reminded of the cheesy and beyond kiddy Krypto cartoon series from around 5 years ago.
You "can" buy this on DVD sets. Though he could've gotten them off of I-Tunes or Youtube.
There's a 7 disc box set with the entire series included which was released in 2009.

11.16.2011 - 16:16 | DustHe also manages to utterly miss the point of everything he adapts. (Okay, not 300, but that had no point to start with)
"We want you to make Watchmen, Zach"
"This is stupid, it's like the heroes are pathetic dweebs in dumb costumes, with deep issues.. Imma give them armor and kewl fight scenez! Better make the bad guy an obvious jerk, so they knows to throw popcorn while he'z pertending to be nice. Fixed!!"
Expect Superman to say "Awesome!" at least once, and kill some people.

A few things dude that you and Nostalgia Critic forgot to add:
1.Lex Luthor is not in Superman/Batman Apocolypse(sorry if i spell that wrong)
2.Brainiac Attacks was ok because Lois was dying of kryptonite poisoning
3.The Critic(and sorta you SpeddyEric) forgot to mention Batman/Superman World's Finest
4.Doug forgot to ask the question "Why the hell is Lex Luthor is african american?!"

I'm just trying to make a point. And also they kept using that same damn redisign for Batman TAS and Justice Leauge. Even as a kid I asked myself "why is Lex Luthor black?" Heck, he even sounds like it...sorta. Anyway just trying to make a point. Also Marlon Brando as Jor-El was perfect for the original Superman movie. Also another thing is that they used Brandos voice in the begining of Superman Returns(very crappy movie). Also Lana Lang in the comics is in charge of LEX Corp and is kinda of Superman's enemy. HA! Top that Morgoth Bauglir!

Also if your going to call bullshit on Lana being a villan, I have happened to have read Superman/Batman The Search for Kryptonite comic and kryptonite was being put into guns. And Lana even exposed the entire earth in kryptonite. But in the end the "Superman family"(Superman,Supergir l,Power Girl,Superboy, and Krypto) were safe in the fortress of solitude(first, second, fou rth, movies also superman returns) and lana didnt even get arrested.

Their last name is "El." This is the House of El.
Technically he still is the Last Son of Krypton. Jaxur and Mala are older than Kal, Supergirl is not a "Son" and in this series she's actually from Planet Argo but somehow she's still referred to as Superman's cousin (I think the Argo bit is eventually forgotten.)

You've forgotten the Jeph Loeb Superman/Batman:Supergirl book and its movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and how they explain that Kara was actually put into a rocket but then went into a hibernation until after Superman/Batman:Public Enemies. Also as a kid I thought Jaxuar and Mala were Zod and his chick accomplice(sorry name slipped my mind) from Superman 2. By the way in the upcoming Man of Steel movie, Zod is going to be in it. HELL YEAAH!

11.15.2011 - 21:24 | groupthinker1984I love the "You only get one" and "I'm going to hold you to that." I think the more Superman stuff you've seen/read over the years the better that joke is.
-
11.15.2011 - 21:31 | Herald7Does anyone remember the earlier Superman cartoon from the '80s that always ended with a segment from Clark's childhood with the Kents?
-
11.15.2011 - 21:32 | Eddie The LightbringerActually they DO say what's causing it, and even said so in the clip that you spliced in. It's the core of the planet undergoing a chain reaction that makes it go boom.
It's stated later that Clark and Lana "used to date", so he actually was taking her up on that. Why they split up is never explained beyond "the plot says so."
Great look back at Superman TAS though, thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope you do more shows!

I'm not really a fan of superman but I didn't mind this show. The only thing I didn't like about it was when they tied it in way to close to the batman show. Having them crossover from time to time is fine but they went way to far when they redesigned the batman characters to fit with the superman animation better.

11.15.2011 - 22:48 | DMasterI totally called this one. A while ago I posted a thread for possible future Raids, and my suggestion was this exact story arc. Ah...validation, even if it was only a coincidence.
To tell everyone the truth, I actually watch this show BEFORE I first saw the first Superman movie. It was because of this show that I got to learn most of the mythology of Superman; his origin, his rogues gallery, exc.
2:45- Oh hi, Krypto.
Nice cameo of Elisa.
11:48- She said “Nice S,” not “Nice…” you know what I mean.
I also love that quick Batman reference. Good thing they teamed up a year later in that special 3-part episode.
13:05- I like 300, I also like Watchmen, and I’m looking forward to Man of Steel. (Note: I thankfully didn’t see Sucker Punch yet.)
13:55- For you non-comic experts, he will later become the villain known as Metalo.
16:59- Those movies are awesome. (Not really on “Brainiac Attacks”)
Like I do with the Batman series, I also have the entire Superman series on DVD, along with both Justice League series, and I have yet to get Batman Beyond (another show of the DC Animated Universe that‘s awesome)
18:24- I‘m sure this review will be as fun as the one on “He Who Shall Not Be Named‘s First Movie.”
