Oh my god yes! I remember watching this movie and totally loving it when I was little! But I never knew back then it was Michael Crawford that did the voice for Cornelious, of course now that explains what my mom and older sister were bringing him up in conversation during his singing number when I was trying to watch the movie in peace. -___- And they complained I chattered during movies.
But now looking back twenty years later, makes me think about this: Do you guys think Michael Crawford was perhaps miscasted for this film? Its like they got him for the singing parts which I can understand, but as for his voicing part why do they make him sound like a elderly Scottish man?

WOW, I think this is among the best reviews he’s ever done (and I’ve seen them all, more than once), it’s filled with great callbacks to previous reviews and film clips, two self-animated characters, scenes recorded around his house, and there are even a few gags he hasn’t done before. His R rrrrolling impression was great, and cutting the film to dub in a song was fantastic. This review seems to have a lot more time dedicated to editing and writing than most of his videos. I was worried the 3rd year anniversary would distract from the amount of work put into the NC reviews, I’m glad to see that I was wrong.
This is also one of his reviews where it was an American film I had never heard of, I think I would have preferred this to Ferngully when I was a kid.
P.S. McGodver needs to make a future appearance as a new composite character (he built Santachrist’s rocketship).

You have a Stargate avatar and a Stargate Username and your review to this video does not mention a single thing about the Furlings? You have failed the fandom! REPENT! REPENT!
Personally I don't think this review is all that great. It feels a bit weak and lackluster compared to some of the others. It strongly pales in comparison to Star Wars Christmas, Casper, and Neverending Story 3 reviews where he put a ton of effort into special intros and endings. Also, if his 3rd Anniversary Special beats Kickassia in awesomeness, I'm more than willy to forgive a few crappy reviews in the meantime.
And don't waste money on this film if you do decide to try watching it. I actually had the misfortune of watching it in theaters and is was so boring several children and myself decided to play around the theater and half the parents were asleep. Ferngully thoroughly kicks this movie's ass.

Okay, this was always something I took with a grain of salt but now that I am older I really feel I should at least point something out.
Why would there be a truck filled poisonous gas driving down the road, for what rational purpose would there be for a truck to deliever poisonous gas that obvious is so powerful it kills EVERYTHING within a hundred mile radius and causes plant life to suddenly decay and die?
Is it bio-chemicals used for the military and if so why not drive it in a military truck where it can be heavily guarded and can prevent a tipover like this?

[q]Insta-killing the local flora may have been a bit extreme, but as far as I can tell the scale may be tricking you there a bit. Seems to be only the "furlings" field that was affected. That seems about right for a hazmat spill.[/q]
Yeah, you got a point there. I probably was overexaggerating the area of circumference for a bit there. But you have to admit, any poisonous gas THAT powerful should be considered a highly classified top secret military weapon at least. I mean, imagine if Al-Qaeda got ahold of that.

But...I like Gerard Butler's singing...
As for Michael Crawford, I don't think I'm a fan. But then again, these lyrics didn't seem to help his case anyway.
I remember having the movie book of this but never actually saw the movie. It's probably for the best that I never did see any part of this movie until now.

Nice job with the porn bit at the beginning. But, to tell the truth, I’m kinda interested in this Michael Crawford film where he plays the voice on an animated, old, cuddly, little animal. …Yeah, I know what I wrote, and you don’t have to remind me.
I actually find the word “younglings” appropriate.
3:44- It actually DOES sound to me like he said “Great hulk.”
10:43- Unless the song he singing is “When You Wish Upon a Star,” I’m not interested.
Screw rheumatism.
14:47- Maybe the same reason why an elf, a man, and a dwarf came to Rohan. ...I'm such a nerd.
17:29- At least we get to see that not every man in this film (and “Avatar”) is the devil.
Man, this environmental film is so bland and forgettable.
SPEEDY FUN FACT: I just found out on Wikipedia that this film was made by Hanna-Barbera.

Oh childhood…
im a little less 'anti-environmental film' than you, though i know its really just how bad and preachy these are that you carry on about, (but hey i like fern gully) but ill admit when you did the 'animals are evil' rant, and when you imitated micheal crawford I burst out laughing. It was hilarious, Nice job.

I used to like it as well, and I even bought it in recent months to rewatch it. My family, nostalgic feelings surging, sat down to watch it. Like many are saying on here, it was simply lackluster.
I still like it, and even though it was a simple children's story, it was just that--a CHILDREN'S story. No one talks about how The Hungry Caterpillar book doesn't hold up anymore.
And maybe it was because I remember this one well that the review wasn't as funny/entertaining as usual. Normally I am laughing the whole time, but this time I only got one chuckle. And it's not because I am Douchey, sitting in my parent's basement and being a grump. It's just that...I don't know. It wasn't like usual.
But hey, Nostalgia Critic, I still love ya a lot. And hey, once Upon a Forest, I still like ya a little. :)

05.31.2011 - 21:17 | powermad9Huh. Well. That was interesting. But I am a little bit surprised that no real connection was announced between 'furlings' and 'furries'. I mean, come on. It's old and overused, but still, this just seems too perfect to give up.

I do appreciate it that it doesn't show man as completely evil.
Yes that the fact that they could've built that plane at the beginning kind of reminds me of another moment from another movie (The eagles in Lord of the Rings anyone?)
Excellent review NC

05.31.2011 - 21:41 | IAmNotPaulI'm glad you keep tearing the badly done environmental films a new one.
Come on Hollywood, surely you can come up with something halfway decent for a environmental film. You know half as much preaching twice as much entertainment.

05.31.2011 - 21:43 | ActionHeroIs it just me or do all of these crappy animated films look and sound the same? I think that's probably my biggest problem with these films, they don't even attempt to be something different. Well, except for MAYBE "The Magic Voyage". I don't know what the fuck that was.

05.31.2011 - 22:08 | MercerMZI didn't exactly hate this movie, but I found much of it to be pretty boring. I'm actually not sure how I would have liked this as a kid, but considering that I used to like the first few Land Before Time sequels, it wouldn't surprise me if I did actually enjoy this.
Though still, I don't think any animated film could be worse than either of those god-awful Titanic movies.

If there's a number one rule for fantasy movies, NEVER use normal words if possible.
To be honest I don't really mind this environ. movie too much compared to the Ferngullies or Secret of Nimh 2 as like you said they draw the line more, but honestly is there any good in these producers slamming their own fellow man?
I also found it a bit too much of killing off the parents, of the YOUNGEST main character I should add. If it was off-screen and mentioned I wouldn't think of it too much, but showing them blatantly DEAD is rather uncomfortable.

Side note: Whenever I run out of toilet paper I usually treat the same way as if rebels had just stolen my Death Star plans. I go forth to retrieve what is missing, choke out anyone who gets in my way and it usually ends in a massive explosion. Damn you, Taco Bell! DAMN YOU!!!
