12.14.2010 - 21:51 | SpockTheRockDocOckAndHulkYou are awesome, Doug. Great review as always. I've been thinking. How bout an old vs new narnia. There was an old BBC version I think you could do a good job comparing to the new series. Also... CHRISTMAS!

I think I saw the first BBC one. It was a little dumb, but then again, I don't remember much.
Anyway... Great review, Critic! I do love your reaction to Christmas every year. XD IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!! Now, this movie... I hadn't even heard of it until this review. Judging by your review, it doesn't look too good. And the dog's eyes... They just bug me SO MUCH. Seriously, it's like a blind Frankie Muniz. D8 (no offense to blind people)
On a side note, I would TOTALLY watch Nostalgia Kitten if it was made. XD It would be even better than "Critic and Trout"!

If you want to listen to something grand, get the audio adaptions of the books.
-
12.15.2010 - 20:31 | diazepamHoly shit, someone other than me remembers the old BBC version? I watched that shit when I was 7 at my grandparents' house. I barely remembered anything except that Mr. Tumnus looked like a fag and that the Ice Queen kept pushing turkish delight on one of the kids.

Yeah, I would totally watch Nostalgia Kitten.
I did notice a striking resemblance between his tie and yours. Heh. In any case, this movie coulda had many different endings, but alas, Rodney musta hated humanity and decided to punish us by keeping the movie going. No respect, Rodney. No respect at all.
-
I'll animate it for him! I volunteer my talents toward a spin off of the Nostalgia Critic! I might even help him do "Critic and Trout" too! But first the Nostalgia Critic must apologize up and down for this review as well as these...
-Twister
-Ferngully
-Mortal Kombat
-Pagemaster
-Rock-a-doodle
-Casper
-Last Action Hero
-Full House
-and ESPECIALLY Space Jam!!!
...and if he doesn't doesn't apologize for all these reviews, I have a long list that I have been thinking about e-mailing to Douchey McKnitpick...
-
12.15.2010 - 15:53 | Marshmallowcreampie
I don't see why he should apologize for those reviews, considering most of those movies and shows were genuinely horrible. (Rock-a-Doodle was awful and Ferngully was lame. Pagemaster was boring, and let's just say when I saw the review of Full House I was glad to find someone who felt the same was about it as I did) Even if those movies were good, NC's thing is to accentuate the negative. Apparently in the commentary for his Sonic review, he actually LIKES the first Sonic show because it was so insane, but ya know what? He overplayed hatred for it because people expect it from the NC. XD

Wow. I've been waiting... all month for this. I LOVE this movie and I've been DYING to watch you tear it to pieces :D
And the little run-up to CHRISTMAS killed me XD That was wonderful and I'm very jealous that you have snow D: I hate FL
Yes, those eyes... They kind of fail.
That fall into the river from the dam... That would kill a dog or at least really hurt him.
JEOPARDY JOKE. LOVE.
And, yeah, every single song even made me cringe as a retarded child, lawl.
And sometimes, Rodney's...er...Rover's fatter than other times
Wait... Is he singing about pissing on trees...? Somehow I'd forgotten about that.
The only good thing this movie ever did was get me into Rodney Dangerfield's comedy. I hadn't even heard of him before this and, after watching his stand-up, I was in love.
So yay Rover for introducing me to Rodney. Were it the other way around, I would probably love this movie a lot less

I'm in Florida too, and be happy. I used to have to deal with snow every winter since I was a kid until 2008. Scraping ice off your windshield, driving 20mph BELOW the speed limit to prevent an accident, shoveling a path to your car - not fun.
The only thing I miss about snow is that it's pretty. Once you start college... well, beauty is only... er, snow-deep.

-
12.16.2010 - 03:33 | GruntKilla06Well I haven't had to drive in it much yet, so I get to enjoy the good stuff about it without the bad. Except for shoveling. >_> But since I live in Delaware it's about a 50/50 chance of getting it at all anyway and almost always not during December. :-(

WONDER SPOUSE POWERS, ACTIVATE!
...although actually Rover Dangerfield is not THAT bad. I saw it as a kid. I totally didn't GET it as a kid because I had only the vaguest notion that the main character was supposed to sound like... something I'd heard before... somewhere...
So like, when your movie is made to star a comedian whose usual material is clearly not intended for children... it probably should have something else going for it. You know, so the children watching it who are not familiar with you have some reason to watch it anyway?
This movie does not have any such quality.
It was boring when I was a kid... now it's boring AND almost offensive in its self-indulgent badness.
This is like... "The Room" done Dangerfield style.

-
We were talking about this upcoming review in Gym class. I never saw Rover Dangerfield when I grew up but he told me that he did. Apparently from him, all I know about the movie is that it has some relatively vulgar humour for a film that seems to be marketed at kids.
-
12.14.2010 - 22:19 | manonthe3upHooray for CHRISTMAS!!

I thought this movie was just a horrid memory of my childhood. Just a blob like for say the Tom and Jerry movie. This is the joke he SHOULD have told haha :D
Great review Doug! Haven´t seen this movie, and from what I saw, I haven´t missed much either.
Really LOVED how you put the Monty Python Flying Sheep sketch in there. Feels like that "joke" in the movie was put there just so we could see how the sheep actually would have looked like in the Monty Python sketch! Haha!
(Did I make any sence here at all? Hope so anyway XD =)
-
12.14.2010 - 22:43 | Eddy25I don't see what was so bad about this. I happen to like it, but I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
-
12.14.2010 - 23:37 | Annie-Mae
Now this is a movie I love. Yeah I cannot approve of this bashing. I'll admit that it's not a wonderful movie, with obvious flaws, but for kids this was great. What 5 year old wouldn't laugh at the corn dog joke?
As for the Turkey I'd have to say that most kids might've seen Bambi's mom get shot before they saw the turkey die...Oh and as a child I seriously laughed when he lifts up head up and goes "gobble gobble gobble." on that turkey. I might've seen this at 6 or 7, that still cracks me up.
Heck, Critic, I would even say that you secretly liked this movie. You showed more one-liners then you needed to and kept the songs on longer then necessary. You could've easily bashed the daylights out of it, or run out of the room screaming, but I've seen worse from you on movies that deserved it. Rodney Dangerfield is not a great singer, but he got some good composers for the songs.
As long as they continue to show "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", I will always love Rover. He gets my respect.

Me and my dad used to play that game and we used to joke about wanting to shoot it. Now I wish to shoot Rover! Only good thing to come out of this movie is the pretty showgirl former master.
Everything else? It can go to hell with the Cat (and Bat) credit card.

12.14.2010 - 22:46 | angel85
what! no Tommy Wiseu joke!? He was the writer, producer, star, etc, of a movie! You missed the opportunity to take another pot shot at the room!
My corn related one liner was "I'm up to my EARS in corn." But I guess that was too clever a pun.
Also, the boyfriend looked more like a stolen jewelry mover than a drug dealer, that's something Douchey McNitpick will call you on.
