09.15.2010 - 05:23 | JackredluMI totally agree with you these fanboys are acting like terrorists, yes terrorists!
I hate the fact that 1 complaint can cancel a whole show in America, I mean some of you are so insane that you would send deaththreats just cause somebody farted on a tv show!
This is the internet, if the NC wants to say what he wants to say then who the hell are you guys to criticize that? if you're so annoyed by his mistakes then realize there is an off button on your computer.
Nobody is forcing you to watch these!
If the highs in your life contain bitching on the internet then consider some new hobbies.
The NC is being to good to you guys for making these top 11 mistake videos, he should just make 1 video, call it "all my mistakes rectified" and just flip us off for 5 minutes long without saying a word.
Or he should go "Jay and Silent Bob Strike back" on you and just beat the living snot out of everyone that bitches about him on the internet.

You know, I do give you right apart from this one Quote:
This is the Internet, if the NC wants to say what he wants to say then who the hell are you guys to criticize that?
No matter if Internet or another Medium, everyone has the right to criticize things. Everyone has the right of their own Opinion, not just the NC, or you, or the Fanboys, or me.. Everybody.
Heck, your comment should actually disable yourself from criticizing the Fanboys, because who are you, to criticize something some on TEH Internet wrote about a Man they only know from Videos?
Critic is a mighty Weapon. It's bad some People can use it rightly. But one can't condemn them from having one, because..
What are NC and Spoony and Linkara and the Sage and all the other Reviewers on the Site doing differently?
Apart from the Fact some of them can be nit-picky too ^.~
And like I said, if People aren't allowed to criticize , what are you doing here? Hell, what am I doing here?
*panic*

you're missing my point, on the internet you have almost total freedom to make any type of video you want.
The NC makes his videos and that gives him the creative rights to keep his "art" (as that is what it legally is) the exact way he wants it to, nobody can force him to go revise something.
He has the total right to ignore the shit out of you is what i am saying, try doing that when working on public tv, you can't cause your broadcast network then has total control over you.

09.15.2010 - 11:08 | mr_rubinoI hate the fact that 1 complaint can cancel a whole show in America, I mean some of you are so insane that you would send deaththreats just cause somebody farted on a tv show!
What planet are you on, exactly?
The NC is being to good to you guys for making these top 11 mistake videos, he should just make 1 video, call it "all my mistakes rectified" and just flip us off for 5 minutes long without saying a word.
No seriously, what planet? If a man has a pair of balls swinging between his legs, he admits his mistakes. Naturally, he doesn't have to make a spectacle of it like Dougie here, but it can be done.
Or of course he could just screw up once an episode, and when asked to correct himself, trot out Douchey McNitpick again to show just how willing he is to admit to making mistakes.
I've seen the comment threads for pretty much all of these (avoidable) mistakes, and every time, it's a few (hundred because nobody reads before posting) people politely pointing out the mistake. And so Doug continues to show what he thinks of the people who watch his videos, and in that very Doug-y style, he keeps the character front-and-center well after it's gone from funny-annoying to padding-annoying. Easier than going to Wikipedia before posting the video, I guess.
Still waiting for him to admit he never actually watched Mortal Kombat (or most of the movies he reviews), btw. Don't get much more fuck-up-y than excising a character completely from a movie.
-
09.15.2010 - 14:12 | theTrekkieWithTheUnoriginalUsernameWow, aren't you bitchy today. If you don't like the reviews, just don't watch them.
Besides, all the people who point out these mistakes usually act like its the end of the world and utterly berate him for it, so I think he has every right to make fun of the more douchey ones.
-
09.15.2010 - 16:59 | mr_rubinoGee, the thin-skinned critic has trained you well.
"ZOMG PEEPLS THINK ITS TEH END OF TEH WORLD N SAY MEEN THINGS TO HIM"

Sure, use the teen-girl argument even though I said nothing of the sort. Although, I didn't build an altar to him over his The Room review like everyone else, and it's his fault Lupa's better review was taken down so...

09.16.2010 - 11:17 | ThoraxProductionsEveryone! We have a NEW Angry Movie Dork!!
Seriously, we JUST converted him over to "The good side" Why do you have to come along and ruin the peace???
-
Wait, wait, wait... so you're complaining about the fact that he's admitting that he makes mistakes in a way that doesn't fit your framework of what an apology should look like?
... Really?
It somehow offends you that he uses a caricature of the internet troll to elucidate how obsessive and nit-picky some people can be? Because apparently you've read all the complaints filed against Doug Walker and they are all well-spoken and politely addressed? Seriously? WHICH INTERNET DO YOU INTERACT WITH?! (and yes, the caps were entirely necessary).
I find it pretty ironic that the entire message of this video, "I make mistakes, here they are, but you don't have to yell at me about them," and you react by angrily picking apart the admittance.
... Fuck, I'm a hypocrite for even participating in this.
I'm just glad I don't live in America. Or on Earth for that matter.
Really, space is nice this time of lunar cycle, you should try it.
EDIT: and yes, the ironic hypocrisy of complaining about someone complaining about a video that addresses the complaints of a fandom is fucking ridiculous. But apparently the asylum is full, and I'm running on the outpatient list.
-
09.16.2010 - 22:23 | Zer0.MediABy the same logic, you don't need to comment about people's negativity on the internet. Pot/kettle.
I get Doug's point on the subject, because he's A CRITIC, but I never understand why people on his message board have to defend him.
HE'S A CRITIC. He makes a living talking shit on other people's works. He can handle it himself, guys.
No seriously, what planet? If a man has a pair of balls swinging between his legs, he admits his mistakes. I'd like to see how many mistakes you make if you have to make a bunch of videos every week.
I'd say "fanboy" fits you better, Captain Doug-Is-A-God-Among- Men.
09.15.2010 - 14:42 | HichcootThe thing that really gets me if that in Quest for Camelot, the scene where the Sword heals everyone you can clearly see the two headed dragon been SPLIT INTO TWO and in the next scene they are together again!!! ( you can see it in this video too! )
-
09.15.2010 - 18:05 | FloweramonThat is also explained in the movie and was probably cut from the review because it was unimportant. There was a whole subplot, kind of, about the dragons needing to learn to get along or else they couldn't fly or breathe fire (though they didn't realize that was the reason they couldn't). After they finally get along and are healed (which given Doug's explanation makes no sense, since they're born that way), they decide that they'd rather be one and the magic... wind... thing- I dunno- fuses them back together.
-
when they become two. they both freak out and have this "I miss my other half" episode and then hug and the magic fuses then back together. into a two headed anoying ass dragon.

09.15.2010 - 05:33 | PLAI have seen the root "cherno" spelled as "tjerno" in other contexts, so a T could occur. Bottom line is still that there is no reason to insist on "Tchernobog", though.
-
Yes, there are multiple spellings (including Chernobog), but you're very wrong in saying none of them involve sticking a "T" at the beginning of the word.
Many times I've seen it spelled "Tchernobog" in grimoires and other demonic encyclopedias of monsters and supernatural beings. As a matter of fact, the first time I saw the word was when I saw it spelled as "Tchernobog" in the 1997 first-person shooter Blood .
Besides, "Chernobog" hails from Slavic mythology, so having a "T" at the beginning is not unusual. So, yeah... don't call people assholes, especially when you're wrong... or you know, ever on the internet to show people respect.

I think that the thing is, Doug makes these lists because, apparently, people do care about this kind of stuff. Personally, I've never really cared even when I've noticed one or two mistakes, but I still find these Nostalgia Critic Fuck-Ups videos pretty funny. =)
Nice to see the return of the Bat ... well, you know, as well as the elephant. He is always quite entertaining to me because he's always just standing there. 09.14.2010 - 23:49 | Kymba_ScionI think that since the Sword was effected by the potion, that when stuck into the stone it "defaulted" which also effected everything else using that particular magic, in sort of a magical backlash.

That's because, even though they've always wanted to be seperated, they decided to merge back before it was too late.
Also, I kind of always knew that last verse(?) of Be Prepared wasn't Jeremy Irons. It was finally confirmed when I first watched Anastasia all those years ago. Though, to be fair, I had assumed that it was Mr. Irons singing for Mr. Lloyd when I realized the similarity.
I don't think it's so much that you can't tell them apart by sound (I always thought it was obvious that wasn't Mr. Lloyd singing), but I think it's because when Mr. Cummings took over, he was too enthusiastic. Neither voice actor, great as they were, seemed like they'd be the type to go all out while singing, whether it was by their personality or by their age.
As for most of the other "fuck-ups"? An opinion's an opinion even on the interwebz.
-
09.14.2010 - 22:17 | The RocketeerDoes anyone else find it funny that Doug doesn’t take criticism too well for his work, but he sure doesn’t waste time criticizing other people’s work in his reviews? -

^The problem is that you're not separating Doug Walker the person from the Nostalgia Critic character. Doug doesn't go out of his way to find the addresses of the people who leave nitpichky comments and blow them up with a grenade. If anything, the fact that he's now made two videos owning up to and apologizing for his mistakes is admirable and shows a level of humility you don't see very often nowadays.
However, the Critic is an insecure jackass with no patience for the likes of Douchey, who doesn't hesitate to go to his house and blow him sky hi. There's a reason that Daffy Duck is a major inspiration for NC's character.
So why does Doug play up these unsympathetic traits in his flagship character?
Because it's hilarious to watch.

-
09.16.2010 - 10:28 | The RocketeerI'd have to agree with you on that one, pariah. I think he uses the "Nostalgia Critic's a character" excuse so that his ass is covered when he makes mistakes. It is kind of harsh to say that if Doug (The Critic or whatever) makes a mistake and you point it out in manner simular to his own when he reviews a film, he will come to your house and beat the shit out of you. He's no better than Uwe Boll!
-
09.16.2010 - 15:02 | pariah
Yeah, there's no denying that The Nostalgia Critic has a temper problem!
I always thought that The Nostalgia Critic was kind of like an exaggeration of Dougs own personality in some ways. He is usually pretty right about the movies he reviews, despite being quite hard on them.
Chester A. Bum, on the other hand, is the other way around. With how he hated Citizen Kane and everything.
But, hey, i could be wrong, since i don't know Doug, or what he's thinking when he writes these videos.
-
09.14.2010 - 22:22 | QueensNYC2021oh god, people are still on you about the whole Mako fiasco?? I guess a troll really does never forget.
And I don't think I can look and the green M&M ever the same again
I think people who comment want everything to be as they see it, and not as the person who's producing the content sees it. Is it enough to go on an all out pointless flame war with all the Doucheys in the world? We all make honest mistakes in life, and people need to take that with common sense. Despite your flaws Doug, we all still love ya a lot!!

I've never been much of a critiquer. They idea of pinpoint the the tiny flaws in another persons work just seems asinine. But it's nice to see you can take these sorts of things in stride and turn it around for all of us to enjoy.
I also have a feeling that this has not been the last we have seen of Douchy McNitpick. I'm sure that he will arise once again aster making a deal with Chernabog and will be seen again in the next Top 11 Fuck-ups. Let's face it, it's hard to kill a troll unless you have a wizard, ranger, elf, dwarf, Sean Bean and a handful of hobbits to back you up.
-
09.15.2010 - 05:49 | dennett316
Pointing out the flaws in others work is how Doug makes a living. Fair enough, most are major, but some are very minor - such as in the Mario Bros. review where he makes a gay joke because Luigi says that Mario raised him. The older brother raised his kid brother because their parents weren't around any more...not a tough concept. Doug was being very Douchy McNitpick there, but no doubt just for an extra joke.
-
09.15.2010 - 21:00 | Jackass Mask
I was commenting more on the idea of nitpicking a review. Before you know it, someone then begins to criticize a comment of a review.(Like you) This of course opens the door for further criticizing. (What I'm doing.) Then the cycle becomes unending and you end up summoning a Troll, like Douchy McNitpick, And then, we end up having another Top 11 Fuck-ups. Repeat.

Makos voice was terrible in that movie. sounded so freaken hilerious. and the movie was terrible. Getting one star on Cable tv makes you say yuck. . .
the movie was bad and the characters voices were lame.
the movie was never anything close to being average.
Mako might of done great movies, but that was not one of them
and mocking him shouldn't change even if he has passed on, it's not disrespectfull, calling a dead man dead. . .

I pretty much have an explanation to the Quest For Camelot bit about the sword being stuck back into the stone and the magical healing wave. Basically speaking, that wave cured everything that Ruber did or anything that was affected by magic. For instance, the potion that caused the merger of man and metal was both magic and Ruber's doing; King Arthur's wound that was inflicted on him was caused by Ruber with Excalibur magically forged on his arm thanks to the potion; my theory on the dragons is that they were magically forged together in some instance which is why the wave caused them to split once for a few seconds and then magically reunites them once it hits them a second time. Now for the million dollar question: why didn't it heal Garrett's blindness? The answer's simple: because Garrett's blindness was in no way caused by magic. It was caused by physical harm. It was explained in the middle of the film, by Garrett himself no less, that his face was stomped on by a frighten horse which is what caused his sight to go out. Don't believe me? Go back to exactly the 45 minute mark and it's explained right there.

But you forget that in many legends and stories, Dragons are magic.
Or maybe the sword didn't notice, given that Garrett sure didn't act like a blind person :P
And perhaps that's for the best, if he got his eyes, he would be disoriented by the new sense, and probably lessen his other senses.
Or the movie's a piece of shit.

I think the sword corrected things wrong with the people when they didn't fully accept what had been done to them. Think about it, Garrett is blind, but he accepts the fact that he is and worked until his being blind is no longer a problem.
King Arthur has a broken arm, who would want to keep their arm broken?
The army became mechanical because their boss told them to. And in one instance one was even kicked into the brew. The rooster certainly didn't want to be plunged in there (and as for Blade Beak I wouldn't say he was necessarily evil as much as he was just following similar like 'metal' individuals. Plus he's a chicken so he's intimidated. Nothing ever indicates the fact that he hated Kayley, her mother or the workers).
The dragons wanted to be separated, but at the last moment they had a change of heart and the magic allowed them to have their desire.
But the magic theory also works for the most part. Perhaps they only diffused the dragons because of the miniplot of them hating being conjoined and showing they finally accepted being and working together.

I noticed the Dolphin mistake. I learned they can defend against sharks from a Zoo Book in 5th grade.
And here's a fun fact: Jim Cummings also did the awesome Robotnik voice for "Sonic Satam". I learned that from Marzgurl who did a tribute to him.
How ironic would it be if the next top 11 fuck ups had a fuck up from one of the other fuck up videos?
Funny ya mention that!
In this one, in the beginning, "ati-sematic" is in the lower left corner of the screen. I know Doug already covered his countless spelling mistakes, but just the irony of it being in a countdown video about fuck-ups is LULZ-y.
Oh, God, I'm turning into the thing I hate most!
