Hahaha, this was great. This hit me right at home. When I was a little kid, I had a Teddy Ruxbin (I even had that weird caterpillar thing at some point) and I really liked it. But there was some point when it got broken and didn't play the tapes very well and one of the eye sockets was broken and kind of half way fell into it's head. It sometimes looked really creepy with that. When I think back on Teddy Ruxbin, he is kind of creepy. Anyway, this video brought back a lot of memories.

08.29.2009 - 18:01 | SomeguywhousesthiswebsiteFurbies were scary because they looked like those things that turn into Gremlins. One time when I was a kid I was having trouble going to sleep and my furby was on a table next to me. Right at 12:01 it said "Me hungry!" and I was scared for weeks.

Boy am I glad my husband works graveyards...and I get to sleep alone after watching that... I really, really hope no one within a ten mile radius of me has a Teddy Ruxpin.
Also, I'm glad I ripped the voice box out of my ALF doll when I was two.

10.21.2008 - 13:24 | Movie-BratNice, very nice. Great reference to Child's Play by the way. You know, that scene where you check the bear to see if he has the tape but actually doesn't? Genius. :)

Oh my goodness gracious...I mean, sweet mercy. You manage to make this both hysterical (especially the bathroom encounter. I'm never above a good "hit-to-the-crotch" gag :P) yet highly unsettling at the same time.
The funny thing is I remember those Teddy Ruxpin stuffed animals but they never really creeped me out. That's definitely gonna change now. I'll be sleeping with one eye open tonight! Or at least be keeping a good lookout on my teddy bears.
Totally worth the wait and all the suspense!
By the way, I just love how the Critic wears his trademark hat to sleep. Just a funny little thing to point out. :D

Shrapnel, I am sorry to say i have found so many errors with your comments.. not only is there a few blatant mistypings such as... "i'm krusty the clown and i dont like you" .... 'hmm never head him say that before'..."im drusty the clown and im going to kill you".
what is a drusty the clown... i can see being one letter off to the left or right but UP? who mistypes one letter up or down... and anyway i am a huge simpsons fan too... and just to be clear... that story was a rip off of something else anyway... why not who cares as long as it is well done and yes TGWTG did a great job anyway wasn't there a simpsons episode revolving around how everyone rips off everyone with the creator of a 30s cartoon that the owner of ichy and scratchy ripped off... and the moral is that everything is a rip off see "http:// simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/ The_Day_the_Violence_Died " and this excerpt from "http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ The_day_the_violence_died "
"In this episode, Roger Meyers Jr. points out the well observed fact that many cartoons, especially the early 1960s Hanna-Barbera, are plagiarized live-action television shows and deeply resemble celebrities of the time. Examples include The Flintstones being a copy of The Honeymooners, Top Cat being based on Sgt. Bilko and, in one of the occasional times the show breaks the fourth wall, The Simpsons character Chief Wiggum being an animated counterpart of Edward G. Robinson. Wiggum, in the court at the time, looks at Meyers when he says the latter."
so... the bottom line is ... dont bitch offer constructive critasism... not sarcastic generalizations like "'hmm never head him say that before"
I'm Matt A. Tobin the Binary Outcast saying... "Ill do some videos when i get damn good and ready" wait.. thats not it... BUT MY POINT STANDS!

10.21.2008 - 13:33 | SaveALemmingWhat's really scary is for some inexplicable reason, last night I spent a solid hour looking up stuff on Teddy Ruxpin.... Just at random.... That scares me. Alot.
Teddy, however, never did. But as a kid, I also had a My Buddy doll, and when Child's Play came out, after finding out what it was about, I beat the everloving balls out of My Buddy just in case he ever thought about coming to life and going on a murderous rampage he'd know who was in charge.

10.21.2008 - 13:34 | Movie-BratOh, and another thing to Sharpnel. That episode of The Simpsons did the same thing this video, referenced Child's Play and that Talking Tina episode of The Twilight Zone. But it's not a bad thing, who does't like those two things and reference them in something comedic?

that was amazing. XD I just barely remember that toy. I gotta ask though... how did you get him to sound like that? did you just have him talk with his normal voice and then dub it over while editing the video?
The first part of this was actually creepy to watch. It was awesome that Teddy's eyes were already red to begin with. I had a few quirks with some of the camera angles but that's just me being picky. I guess I just thought it was weird that it looked like Teddy's head was rolling off the couch to connect back to his body but then you have the angle where it shows him floating back onto it. I dunno, I just think the shot would have looked better if you moved up and showed it already back on instead.
That was just my little nitpick. :D Awesome video and I love your house!

What impressed me the most with this is the lighting that you were able to achieve. It capture the essence of the cheesy late 80's horror movies. I was quite stunned. Maybe this is due to this being the first (correct me if I'm wrong) vid where you are not in front of the beige wall or the book cases. I hope you venture out, and utilize the talents of lighting and cinematography that you've displayed here in the future.

When I was a kid, I had Smarty Bear (it was like just like Teddy Ruxbin, but for poor kids). One day, I was playing with my toys, and by "playing" I mean throwing them around the room and bodyslamming them. I took Smarty Bear and tossed him up against a wall, and that damn toy said "Heeelllooooo!". The scariest part about it... it didn't have any batteries in it! No joke, I made my mom throw it away the next day!
This video gave me the chills... and now I think Smarty Bear is looking for me.
