You can watch the Home Alone 3 episode at this link http:// nostalgiacritic.blip.tv/ right now! Follow the list of videos on the right side to find it or when this video ends, look at the 3rd most recent. Have fun.
-
04.06.2010 - 23:05 | manonthe3upActually, I saw It two days ago. It's still open in fear of losing it.
-
Why was this down-voted? The information he's giving is accurate - you really CAN watch the Home Alone 3 video already! Guess Nostalgia Critic finished it a week early or something.

04.06.2010 - 22:53 | KrimmsonCongratulations dude, that edit you made brought you high up in the thumb scale.
-
04.07.2010 - 03:05 | jrhinsonYes, apparently it did. I was actually expecting the opposite to happen after I made that edit. I made that edit soon after I posted my original comment and saw that I had like 7 down votes and 2 up votes. I figured at that point it was impossible to first make a comment on a video here without being ridiculed. So I either jumped the gun and typed that little rant too quickly... or people are finally starting to realize that just because you make the first comment does not mean you're one of those "First!" bitches.

You basically just reinforced a point that I was trying to make months ago about the juvenility of the "thumbs up/thumbs down" application. I hate it. Anyone on Facebook (so anyone period, I suppose) knows that there are hundreds of pages dedicated to the establishment of a "dislike" button. But the FB administration flat out refuses to inaugurate one because it reinforces childish acrimony and petty, unjustified negativity. How is that useful in any social network? As it is, Facebook supports only the "like/thumbs up" feature, and I personally find even that to be superfluous.
I generally try to make astute, unbiased observations in my comments on here--yet the closer to the top my post is, or the more it may be in disagreement with the contributor's video, I am bombarded with red thumbs. It's rather amusing. If you have a genuine discordance with something said on here, why not reply and make a mature counterpoint supporting your opinion? Believe it or not, the "reply" feature is not exclusively reserved for cementing your message on the first page when you came in too late (cough...Apathetic One). Obviously the "first" posts are stupid, and it's pointless to bitch about them anymore--they will always exist. But the irrational and unbridled use of the "thumbs down" is getting to the point where this site occasionally feels more like an adolescent's YouTube account.
Oh yeah? There's a video here, too? I actually watched both Flubber and Home Alone 3 a couple days ago when they popped up on Blip. This one was funny: but I found the next one to be the funniest NC posted in a very long time. Not to raise anyone's expectations too high that hasn't seen it yet...
Great job, Doug. I'm going to "thumb up" myself for this post.

It's actually rather amusing that 1) you care enough to post your thoughts on the subject and 2) you assume any rating system which doesn't outright obscure unpopular comments really has any effect. The thumbs are a tool, no more, no less.
Your frustration's misdirected. The "juvenility" exists among the users not within the tool.

06.15.2010 - 01:51 | SqueejeeI hear ya - as a kid, this movie left no impression on me whatsoever.
Unfortunately though it seems like Doug missed the most horrible crime of the whole movie - a story about an AI that falls in love with a human, dies, and leaves behind a new AI that inherited certain traits of the human could have made an entire movie of its own, and yet here it's relegated to the status of a poorly-executed subplot.
Other than that, it was an okay reviw.

04.07.2010 - 10:35 | DiamantEveryone who plays in a movie together with Robin Williams sould take some classes in how to defend yourself against fresh fruit.
-
04.07.2010 - 13:31 | Vortren the WarlockWhy no one has charged him with 'assault with a deadly fruit' is because if you know Defense against fresh fruit, no charges are held. Guess The Reference! :woohoo:

It's already out on blip.tv, go check it out. Hilariously bad at some parts. Other times, I feel NC's pain watching it.

Great review though. I remember enjoying this film when I was younger. Of course I've known it's rediculous for a few years now but it still has it's good qualities. Very good childrens film.

-
04.06.2010 - 20:41 | MPSoloThe Wesley and Little Mermaid insertions were priceless.
Also, the thing with John Hughes not being the only writer...though it turns out he WAS the only writer (Bill Walsh wrote the original screenplay...good catch InformationGeek), a good example of what the Nostalgia Critic was gunning for is I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Alexander Payne was one of the writers for that, but once Adam Sandler and Co. came on the project...wasn't exactly the kind of work you'd expect from Alexander Payne anymore.
One last thing...even when Christopher MacDonald is playing a good, honest character...do you really trust that face on screen anymore?
-
04.06.2010 - 20:33 | raidensparxI don't care what these crappy movies say, Robin Williams is still hilarious.
-
04.06.2010 - 20:33 | KahnorCan't wait to watch it Doug. Looks like a good choice of movie. I love robin Williams honestly.
-
04.06.2010 - 20:58 | archonambroseusAgreed; I really like Robin Williams' standup. It's the movies he signs on for that are intolerably bad (with a few exceptions).
Nice to see a little praise for the poor man after all the beatings he takes from the TGWTG staff (not that any of it has been unwarranted, mind you :D).
[edit]
Anyone else think it's funny that The Crazy Cam went through and downrated everybody's comment other than his own? Or that just to spite him I rated (almost) everybody's up?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this review. Well I can agree with you on some points, like the incompetentness of the professor or how obvious it is with the main villian, but I don't agree with you on some other issues. I loved the over the top slap stick and the bad guys being knocked senseless or thrown for a loop with every hit they take.
Also, for some reason, I didn't think you had a strong review with this episode. Some jokes didn't seem as strong as they could, some seem like you were just nitpicking, and others just feel flat (Kind of like pointing out the breakfast making machine).
Strangely enough, John Hughes made tons of movies I liked during the 90s, including this one.

Well, one thing's for sure, Robin Williams is no Jerry Lewis when it comes to being the wacked-out professor. But he does manage to be both hilarious and annoying at the same time. Personally Weebo was the only thing other than Brainard who was the least bit humorous, everyone else was boring or mean-spirited.
I remember watching this film in theaters and thinking to myself: "Okay, which one's supposed to be the charming one?"
Good job dude.

I really didn't find this too funny. Aside from the Weebo/Spock thing, I barely laughed at this. Somehow I felt this entire review was one giant segway into Home Alone 3.
Maybe it's just because you're really busy and all but that's just my two cents. Eh screw it, just hit the down arrow.

I mean, yes its weak, yes it doesn't use robbin williams funny to his full potential, but it makes up for being kinda bad by being entertaing and quirky! but that was a brillient joke with the evil bad guy, but you missed the twirling mustache joke!. cmon you could have totaly used that joke!! but the robot was f*****up... it haunts my nightmares.......

Probably not a good idea to spoil stuff, bud. It may have gone up earlier this week, but that's no excuse to post spoilers.
EDIT: Anyways, great review, Doug! I really enjoyed the delivery of the BLAM in this one. Although, I hope the character isn't getting bored with those moments. I always find them funny.

What would Fred MacMurray say!?!?
That aside, I remember seeing this as a kid at a drive-in theatre. I think it was a double feature with Twister or something. Anyway, I remember when the movie started and being excited that Robin Williams was in it. I was young and stupid and thought, "Hey, that's the guy who did Genie in Aladdin! He is awesome!" (I am 26 now) Don't worry, I now know that films like Good Will Hunting, Awakenings, and even One Hour Photo are some of his best works. Oh yeah, and that whole Golf Invention bit he does... hi-fucking-larious.
But, seeing that little yellow flying robot in the beginning was an instant turn off for some reason and when the flubber started to dance... dear god. Even almost a decade and a half ago of my life I realized just how ridiculous this movie was.
P.S. Is it just me, or does the apple throwing scene of this movie remind anyone else of the one in Mrs. Doubtfire by the pool? Why doesn't someone charge Robin Williams for 'assault with a deadly fruit' by now?
(EDIT)-->
P.P.S OK, I've just had a lesson in Internet Idiocy. Apparently posting a comment to a Nostalgia Critic video first means the entire world will hate you, even if you mention abso-fucking-lutely NOTHING about being "first" in it. And suddenly I find this comment 'grayed-out' with multiple thumbs downs from poor jealous fucks who sulk that they didn't press the refresh button quickly enough. Dear god, grow the fuck up people. You have just proven it is impossible for someone to leave an honest comment to an NC video without being outcasted. Whether you are one of those annoying fucktards rapidly clicking the refresh button and screaming "First!"... or just someone who saw the video on blip.tv and so left a comment here on TGWTG when you noticed it was posted.....
....NO ONE FUCKING CARES! They will all treat you as if you murdered Doug in his sleep regardless. So lesson learned: NEVER be the first person to post a comment to an NC video, even if you actually make a real comment and do nothing wrong. People will hate you anyway.
P.P.P.S Wasn't that the longest P.P.S you ever read?
