Great Video, never saw the Jerry Louis one, but other than his voice it looked good. And yes I would love to beat up Dave Chappelle for leaving the Chappelle show.

That was a great episode. I agree, the Murphy is the better of the two. Now you should do Old Vs. New "The Absent Minded Professor"...or "Flubber", however you want to look at that. Because they're the same story.

That may be, but you cannot deny that they are (well, supposed to be) the same story! I agree with you that the Robin Williams version is whack, but still...both movies have flubber in it. Only one is...alive...I can't believe I just said that.

Judging from the recently released upcoming schedule, it looks like he's going to do a straight review of Flubber, not an Old Vs. New.

But I do hope he includes comparisons to the (still silly, but far superior) Fred MacMurray flick.

For my money, as a fat guy, I identified with Murphy's professor more than Lewis so I prefer that film almost by default. But the original is a classic, and gave us Prof. Frink in The Simpsons. :)

Been a while since you did one of these. :cheer: I like the older one better because of that moment where Lewis' charactor just runs away when he's transforming.

It's interesting to note that Jerry Lewis actually has approval over the remake, even was a producer on it.

That being said I'm suprised you didn't mention the sequels. No you didn't read that wrong, while everyone knows about "The Klumps" there was also a sequel and semi-remake to Jerry Lewis' that was direct to video and animated. Whether or not it was good I have no idea.

I love when you have these. It's a nice break from straight reviews, they're always funny, and it's interesting to see the two versions side bu side with your type of observation.

Wow, I really thought you were going to go the other way with this old vs. new episode; I’m pleasantly surprised with your choice! You drew some really interesting parallels between Jerry Lewis and Eddie Murphy. It’s true that both of these movies and comedians have their strengths and weaknesses.

(Also what is up with Dave Chapelle’s hair?! Hahaha!)

Me too. I can't imagine why the adults spoke like that in the show.

I personally think that the Murphy version was pretty immature, even as a child I thought so.

But then again, I don't remember it so much. If I recall right it had many fart jokes and fat jokes and those weren't very amusing.

I have to admit, I never really liked these Old vs New videos, but they are starting to grow on me now. Next time you should compare It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and Rat Race.

Seconded. I haven't seen Rat Race since I saw it in theaters (and I was young then) and don't really remember much about it (aside from Rowan Atkinson as a narcoleptic). I DO remember much of Mad (abbrev. for convenience) and I practically died laughing during it. I could watch Jonathan Winters destroying that gas station forever and and still entertained by it.

I haven't seen either version of the Nutty Professor, nor did I even know what they were supposed to be about. Hell, I only knew about the Eddie Murphy version before this.

Erm, anyway, this video has piqued my interest in the movies. Based on the clips shown, I think the Jerry Lewis version looks to be a little more appealing. I probably shouldn't make any real judgement on either until I've given both a watch first, though.
