Did the Bum put the vocalizer for Alpha from Up on his penis?
I can't determine if that's awesome or not.

No. This is a common filter known as "speed your normal-speaking voice by 50% to 100%", it's so cheap it comes with every sound-recording software that claims to be even remotely good.
Hell, I used to record myself and my buddies and apply that shit with Windows Recorder back when I was 12.

...call me a jerk if you want to, but all comedy that has to resort on "penis-and-gay"-jokes is not of my liking. Thanks Chester for making sure i avoid this one.

The bum review was pretty funny but you hardly talked about the movie at all. I guess there isn't really much there to use except for innapropriate stuff that we should see for ourselves right?

i saw borat and then saw a commercial for bruno and asked myself why should i pay twice for the same film. I made that mistake before with anchorman and talladega nights. nice review though

Poor, poor Bum. D: (donates change)
Seriously though, movies like Bruno do not appeal to me at all. They're just stupid and not at all humorous. I didn't even see what the big thing with Borak was.

Its "Borat" but whatever.
I guess its because its just really uncomfortable watching him interact with various people and playing on their prejudices.
-
07.13.2009 - 17:59 | Dohguy
the point of Borat was to show off the hidden xenophobia that most americans have for comedic effect.
Bruno is pretty much the same film but with homophobia.
i just pray to God that this one will not be as quotable as Borat.

Okay I thought the last two lines were REALLY funny XD
I figured Bruno wouldnt be anything special, I mean, there was barely anything to say about it it looks like. But that's okay, the penis arguing was hilarious.

Wow....Words can not express how hilarious this is. I laughed so hard I started to cry.

07.12.2009 - 22:33 | CrimsonDusk - Great Review
Didn't Borat had already some gay jokes, so Bruno would be a step back because it only has gay jokes. Oh and I'm sick and tired of this reality show style filming, it looks cheap but damn Bruno had a budget of $42 million and it appears it flopped for the opening. Maybe mister Sacha will learn something from this that people are sick and tired of making movies that present some isolated issues in society that are illustrated as a country wide problems. What's so fascinating to see how stupid can people be in real situations. Oh that's so wonderful to see other peoples life.

I didn't even see what the big thing with Borak was.Well, the thing with Borat (and Bruno) is that they're less about gay jokes and crazy foreigners (like people seem to insist is the whole movie) and more about exposing how people act and react based on their prejudices when they're not aware of what's going on.
Like Bruno is a mix of peoples homophobia (which gets a bit too terrifyingly accurate to be funny at times), as well as people obsessed with "celebrity" (as in, becoming one, or making their child one) at any cost.

...Homophobia's not a country wide problem now?

07.12.2009 - 23:45 | CrimsonDusk - My Bad
My bad if Homophobia is really a big issue in America. But as I remember it was already dealt in Borat, to some extent, by showing that allot of Americans got really offensive when they got kissed on the cheek. There was also a scene were Borat talks to a cowboy about the fact that in "Kazakhstan" they hang Homosexuals and the Cowboy HI Fives him for that. So technically Bruno is just overusing the subject with the excuse that he wants to make people aware of Homophobia and in the process by covering a controversial subject making money. This movie is technically exploiting homosexuals because it will attract an audience that want to see movie that presents the truth about homosexuality in America. Make money by covering a controversial subject that allot of people will be interested in, now that's "noble".

Great, now all I can think about is "what would MY penis sound like?"
I imagine it'd sound like Jon Lovitz for some reason ...
... anyways, great review Mr. Bum.

I didn't like Borat, so I have no desire to see Bruno. I'm glad Doug and Chester share my sentiments.

But if I admit to knowing who Joan Rivers is... would that make me a British cigarette?
Great review, though, especially the last line!

Only a comic genius like Doug could get away with talking to his own privates. Mr. Walker, I salute you!

Good one as always, Chester and "Little Chester". I did a text review of Bruno a couple days ago on my blog, and I gotta say, aside from begging for change at the end and the talking penis, it was a lot like this. So, I guess I can relate, or something.(Though, why I'd want to relate with a Bum and his cynical penis is beyond me.)
