I just saw this movie a few hours ago, and I've gotta say that listening to the Bum go on, I think he may be right. But then, how could I have smoked crack without remembering it?

I'm a little disappointed that he didn't go into the absurdity of Liz's pregnancy or the inherent drug-related humor of the Troll Market, but oh well.

It was a great movie in my opinion, I think it was more for the Hellboy comic book fans than the first one. I can't decide whether I liked Hellboy II more or Ironman more.

I enjoyed Hellboy 2 just cause it was action-packed and goofy fun. Sometimes, you just need that.

Nice catch on the Family Guy thing, by the way. Johann Krauss (the robot powered by magic smoke) is voiced by Seth MacFarlane. And thus, the great pepperoni-headed fish-faced hot chick circle of silly is complete

First off, "plain silly"? Perfect way to put it. Lol it was just silly for the sake of being silly. It was like Guillermo was TRYING to make this into Pan's Labyrinth 2, but the studio kept reminding him you have to have Hellboy in it cuz' it's actually a Hellboy movie.

Secondly, I swear I thought I read someone comparing Iron Man and Hellboy 2. Which is essentially the same as trying to comparing Christmas and Hannukah: Christmas is great...Hannukah sucks. (LB rules)

I my humble oppinion, Hellboy 2 is DAMN great, in some ways better than Dark Knight - a film that is trying way too much to be something a comic based movie should never have been. Dark Knight overuses character development, drama, useless dialogue, and so many other things, that make this movie a little pretentious and hypocritical.
Hellboy 2, on the other end, is a perfect incarnation of the comic series - fun, fast, imaginative, and sprinkled with some seriousness.
Just like a proper comic movie is supposed to be.

Hehe, really funny review! Yeah, Hellboy 2 does seem a bit like the creators were on crack.
It helps if you know that the premise of Hellboy center around the folklore of much of the world, and *all* the myths are true, *plus* the things the creators added.

Like Dark Knight, Hellboy showed that victory often comes at a price, a high price, like being forced to kill the forest god who was the last of his kind, or the princess killing herself because her twin brother just wouldn't quit.
I think the Dark Knight did it better, but Hellboy still pulled it off pretty well.

The thing about Hellboy becoming a dad is a bit WTF?! considering what he is, but on the other hand myths and folklore is full of non-humans and humans getting it on and having babies, so...
*cough*Zeus*cough*

I thought the film was quite enjoyable, succeeding well in keeping the air of horror/myth/humour that the comic does, though I realize that it also makes it a case of 'your mileage may vary' for those that haven't read the comic and only seen the first film.

... as many has commented before, I agree this movie wasn't bad at all.
It had a moral and tried to be dark, even though it has a hard time with its settings.
It had entertainment, good action-scenes, follows the comics and actually tries giving a moral-speech and doesn't fail.
Good movie for us effects'n sci-fi people.
