hello doug or aka nostalgia critic or aka chester a bum or aka thatguywiththeglasses or aka any other character that you've played.
it is great to see another chester a bum again.
looking forward to the next nostalgia-ween episode this week.
uh , question , will there be a chester a bum review of the upcoming prequel film of the thing? or is cinema snob going to review that film? on the same topic , is anyone from TGWTG going to be talking about the thing by john carpenter or is there already something else going to happen this week?
I think the last question I shall ask is this. will there be any top 11's for this month in nostalgia-ween like a top 11 most creepiest films or top 11 best alien films or anything like that?
keep up the good work , and have a happy halloween.

MacReady: I know I'm human. And if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won.

Gotta admit, I wasn't sure about how this movie was going to be when I saw it. I'll also admit, I am one of those people whom cry out when the hero is hit or smacked around hard (even when it is a robot). But I did notice the Rocky 4 reference, and I did enjoy the CGI and I enjoyed the movie as a whole.
But I wasn't too sure with Jackman's character at the beginning. He reminded me of a douche you'd meet in real life for some reason. And if that is what he was going for, then by gosh he succeded, cause I was really convinced of that.
Great you liked it, cool movie, nice review, see you in the next one Dog.

why thank you. ^-^
I am in deed gearing up to see the new film of The Thing this friday. I've been watching videos on you tube this evening from masters of horror including john carpenter , tobe hooper , and even wes craven. john carpenter's talk was mostly about Halloween & The Thing , Tobe Hooper talked about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and both him and gunnar hansen disliked the idea of remaking classics , and wes craven talked about mostly films like The Last House On The Left and The Serpent In The Rainbow.
but either way , thank you for your comments.
^-^

Saw this movie on opening night, and the enthusiasm of the crowd was awesome, like Inglorious Bastards or a Pirates movie. It made the movie that much more enjoyable.
There was a lady who was sitting in front of me, and she was so into the final fight, its was awesome. I kept glancing at her, because she was cracking me up.
Loved Chester's review, and its always nice to hear from Doug.

I saw this movie yesterday and I loved the hell out of it. I've missed over-the-top-ridiculous- but-still-somehow-works movies for so long. It helped that they had a bunch of big names working on it, I guess.
When I was watching it, on top of the Rocky 4 and Transformers thing, I also had a few Iron Giant flashbacks between Atom and Max. I kept waiting for the kid to show him what the difference between a rock amd a tree was.
Am I the only one who thought that they originally wanted Charlie Sheen to play the main character? I'm glad they got Hugh Jackman though.

I totally agree with your review of this movie!
My only complant with it is why is every one from Texas in it portrayed as being cowboy wanta be stereo-types!? Dammit I'm in Texas and when we have county fairs you might see a few dozen dudes walking around in cowboy hats and they're normally hanging around the animal shows and farm and hunting stuff.
I liked this movie a lot! Hell if I was still little I'd want some action figures of the robots from the movie.
I do agree I'm surprised robots didn't play a more important role in the movie. I'm not asking for I, Robot here but I'd exspect something like service robots or military ones.
Hell in that world biulding or owning a robot biult for battle seems to be about as easy as getting or owning a car. I'm surprised there hasn't been like some guy or gang using those robots to like rob banks or steal from stores. It'd be like owning your own Terminator!

10.09.2011 - 22:02 | XypherI'll tell you what I told my girl after I saw this movie...I want a sequel and a cartoon series now where's the nearest Toys R Us so I can get me some figures!
It was corny with a side of cheese for dipping but I loved it and it made me feel like a kid again. it's been a long time since I wanted to see a movie just for the fun of it like I have this movie.

Every time I see a preview for this film, it makes me want to run out and...see "Warrior" again.
"Warrior" is that other boxing film out right now (with humans, not robots) that is also riddled with some pretty predictable cliches, but they're done well, and the climax is nail-bitingly, heart-thumpingly, tear-wellingly good.
So, for boxing films:
Real Steel = cliches + CHEESE + talented actors (Hugh Jackman)
Warrior = cliches + a good scriptwriter + talented actors (Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte) + Beethoven

When you do your own opinion on movies after Chester A Bum you should wear a white t-shirt with a puke green tank top sweater.
Though I must admit that I now usualy prefer your own personal review of a lastest movie than when you are playing Bum. Especialy the Real Steal one.
Dah-dah-dah-daaaaahhh
I realy think you should start seperating the Bum reviews with your personal self reviews now. Maybe do yourself reviews a day later as its different to when your trying to mock something and instead giving your own honest opinion on a movie.

Have you ever though of trying to do 90min complilations of reviews asking guest host to anchor them. I think I would add something new to the site. It could include guest reviewers as well as the more obscure producers. Include Ca members fav videos, or commentary or riffs on other content etc. It would realy help those that some people ignore because they never watched their content before.
It would also make older forgoten content get rewatched. And so much more could be done with rehashing old content. How many people watch old content. I do occationaly, but would be better if it wasshown with someone to host it and maybe introduce it. So many other ideas that could help recycle older content and unseen cont etc.
Can blip handle content thats 90 min long?
Any to drunk to go further so just adding my 2 cent.

Wow,Chester is finally back. I was watching Brad's review of this piece of crap and everybody seems to agree that is as bad as Transformers 3 (ahem, not that I watched Transformers 3). I remember when I was in the theater watching the trailer even my 10-year old son thought it was lame. Like Brad said, this is a bad mixture of The Iron Giant and The Champ.
God,this year in cinema sucked...but I gotta watch that Transmorpher thing. I loved Kung Fu Panda...

Sorry, but nearly a minute into the Bum review, I couldn't take that annoying voice anymore so I stopped watching. Though to be honest, I find it memorably annoying. It's stuck in my head even though I don't want it to be. I've tried to watch a few other Bum reviews, but the only one I've watched all of is "Transformers 3". Giving these reviews another chance never works for me.
However, I enjoyed your review, Doug. Your real voice is obviously so much easier to listen to. The way you described this film and such tells me I probably would enjoy it. (I enjoyed "Rocky IV".) It's always great to watch a film you're enjoying with a crowd you know are enjoying it, too, like those late screenings of "The Room" I've been to.

-
10.10.2011 - 05:22 | alexanderthegreat"This is pretty much a rip off of the futurama episode Raging Bender."
It's actually a (very loose) adaptation of a Richard Matheson story published in 1956, which was then adapted into an episode of "The Twilight Zone" in 1963. The Futurama episode, and the Simpsons episode "I, (annoyed grunt)-Bot", were both arguably takeoffs on that story too.
Also, THANK YOU, Doug, for not succombing to the "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots" comparison. I can understand people seeing this and thinking "Hey, it's Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots: The Movie," but ferchrissakes, people just wouldn't shut up about it. It got tiresome very quickly.

The Bum review was awesome of course, but I don't think I've ever seen you act out and describe one of those over-the-top, cliched scenarios like that as yourself, rather than a character. It was just so extremely entertaining to see. I could picture every minute of it. Bravo, sir!
I've gotta see this movie now! Long Live Hugh Jackman!
