Oh my god this is the greatest movie I'- wait. It's in 3D. and the 3D is entirely unnecessary? Fuck it, I'm a bum. Do you think I can afford to pay $13.00 to see a movie when I could pay $7.00 to see it in 2D? Oh, I'm sorry that's a really hard question to answer; I should just tell you. The anser is no. I need that money for more important things; like Alchohol and that powdery stuff that makes me happy. (does drugs, man walks up) Do you want to pay $13.00 to see a 3D movie? (bum) Hell yes!!!!

05.08.2011 - 19:57 | ToniHendrixI agree that the climax isn't what I expected but it was OK and...
why the bum can give spoilers but doug can't?
I just don't get it...

I too like the more serious video review in addition to the Bum Review, but I'd still like to see the single-sentence commentary as well. If you do decide to discuss more spoiler-type material during said video review than you do in the Bum Review, then you can use the single-sentence commentary to still give people an idea of what you actually thought about the movie without giving away more of the spoilers in a non-comedic fashion.
Either way, it was another entertaining review, and I'll still enjoy future ones regardless of which format you go with.

05.09.2011 - 04:08 | Morgan WickWhat's odd about it is that he's avoiding giving away spoilers in the serious review... that he gave away in the Bum Review. I guess maybe he's thinking some people might watch the serious review without watching the Bum Review at all, but it's still rather odd.
It is a good use of these vlog-type videos, though.

05.08.2011 - 23:56 | mehjaHave gone blind? Where is the "Seriously: Thor was ..." at the end?
Or was the God of Spoilers so thunderstruck by the movies awsomeness that he forgot?
-
05.09.2011 - 04:09 | Morgan WickOr he turned it into another freakin' video?

Except, it actually happened several times in the comics, in fact during Walter Simonson's run on Thor in the 80's The Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg)tended to go on adventures on Earth particuly New York.

In fact the critically acclaimed 2007 run by J. Michael Straczynski (who served as assistant script writer for the film), had Thor and the rest of the revived Asgardians move Asgard to Oklahoma after their world was destroyed during the Ragnarok event in the comics.

One thing I didn't like is that at the end they say "oh no we can't go back, Thor can never see the humans again!!!!" He's in the freakin Avengers movie. You're not going to build suspense or anything when we know he has to come back.
And yeah, hawkeye total let down, but god I want to see more.
I did like Loki. Surprised you didn't talk more about that.

I was so dense when he reached for the bow and arrow, I automatically thought "C'mon really? Not a gun?" instead of "HOLY CRAP THAT'S HAWKEYE AAAAAHHHHHH!"
>_>;;
But I did enjoy this movie, even though, yes, there are a few things to nitpick. I do agree with Doug, I was expecting them to kill off Heimdall.

05.17.2011 - 23:20 | EonTheBlackGuyThor didn't destroy Loki. Loki just fell into an abyss. At the end credits, you can see that Loki's alive and well, and ready for the Avengers movie. :-D

The rainbow bridge, named Bifrost, was not created by the Norse gods. This is not something Marvel came up with, this is the real Norse myth in that the Norse gods did not create it.

-
05.09.2011 - 02:20 | JethroSeriously? Good idea. Makes sense, making two reviews.
-
05.09.2011 - 02:25 | HamelI also watched the movie today
I thought it was okay
I felt the romance was really forced (he knew her for a day GREATEST ROMANCE EVER) and basically hated 90% of the things that happened on earth
I wish it was a movie about things that happen in Asgard instead

Hey, what's this? 2 reviews for the price of 1? Well hot dang ain't that just great. Seriously though, it's a nice idea Doug, I like it.
I don't mind the spoilers this time, usually I'll watch the movie first then see your review, but I've been really unsure about going to see it anyway. I think I'll give it a chance, and you sure gave me a laugh (well, lotsa laughs)

Thor doesnt do this stuff (crumble the earth and that stuff) too often because he follows a warrior honor code. He only fights with minimal strength until the enemy proves he is worth of fighting a bit harder. His limits are not even touched in this movie. Even the douchebag beginngin thor follows that code. He is a warrior after all..but not a king type yet.
-
05.09.2011 - 19:46 | BlueStar86There's also that property damage is probably frowned upon in Asgard plus his friends weren't too far away from him, and later on in the movie his squishier friends were within range of his bigger attacks. Thor is mighty, no doubt about it, but he does think about what that incredible amount of power does to those around him, and not just what it does to his enemies.
I like the video explanation instead of the 1 sentence one. I hope you keep it up.
