Someone should really try to do something about that. But then again, I guess it's just cheaper to post videos on a blog-type page rather than a YouTube-type page.

Actually, I concur on Prince of Egypt and also The Road to El Dorado; those were great flicks. So perhaps 2D is the key. I've honestly been crooning for a 2D resurgence for several years, and I was thrilled to see Disney finally put some real effort into a classically animated feature again with The Princess and the Frog.
In reply to someone's question posted down lower, no, I have not seen this movie. And yes, I am unfairly judging it before giving it an unbiased view. And I do not apologize for it. I have seen Madagascar, Shark Tale, A Bee Movie, Monsters vs Alens, and a slew of garbage Shrek and Ice Age sequels that tell me that I don't need to see this movie. Not in theaters anyway. Dreamworks uses a style that is not akin to my liking usually, and there is a reason that Pixar is always more well-received, both critically and in the box office. I'm aware this isn't the ultimate measure of a production's true value, but it certainly implies that I am not alone in my opinion.
Perhaps it's a bit brash to say that they need to "throw in the towel," but I just typically find myself yawning more than laughing through a Dreamworks piece of animation. All the way back to Antz. Call me a Pixar "fanboy" if you will, but I'll save my movie-going money for more sparkling pieces of work like Ratatoullie, Up, WALL-E and The Incredibles.

03.29.2010 - 01:55 | albinotanukiActually, this movie was quite good. It had very nice character and plot development and was quite a relief to see after years of the usual Dreamworks Schtick.

06.04.2010 - 21:31 | Trinity RavenIce Age was made by 20th Century Fox, idiot. Just because it's computer animated and sucks doesn't mean it's made by Dreamworks.
The only thing Dreamworks needs to the throw in the towel with is the Shrek series. They should've stopped at 2, and that's being nice.

The premise didn't really appeal to me, but the fact that it's directed by Chris Sanders and Dean Sorry-Can't-Remember is kind of the defining factor in going to see it. How could you NOT want to see a film from the guys who directed Lilo and Stitch?
But even if it's not as good, at least Chester makes it sound like a bona fide hit. Is there any film that the Bum CAN'T make sound like an epic blockbuster? Answer: no.

03.28.2010 - 21:52 | thatgirlinthebrowncoatThe only thing that bugs me about this movie is that it's nothing like the book. (Originally all the vikings had dragons, and Toothless was truly toothless. http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ How_to_train_your_dragon ) Still, epic review!

When Doug (or Chester) is saying that HTTYD was "Avatar, except intentionally funny", it's pretty obvious: it was a 3D movie akin to Avatar, except unlike Avatar, HTTYD had elements in it that were meant to be funny, and were; Avatar, on the other hand, was a movie that, while a 3D epic, also had some laugh-out-loud moments where they probably weren't meant to be any.
Thus, Avatar... except intentionally funny. Intentionally is the key word.

Hilarious episode! Is it just me or Chester has become even more agitated since he saw Twilight?
-To be honest, I must say I lost faith in 3D animation the day I saw the trailer for "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs". I like wacky humor, but that looked retarded.
--I couldn't help but noticing the strange stroke of unnecessary thumbs down in the comments. Someone got angry for not being first?
-
03.29.2010 - 05:43 | KungFuManCloudy was one of those movies that you had to be forced to watch or be around while it was playing (like I was at work @_@) before you really enjoyed it. Mr. T and Bruce Campbell carried that movie for miles when they were on screen, especially the former.
Now AstroBoy...by comparison that was just embarrassing.
