First of all, they do have control, they can set pay for the execs, they can shut down auto dealerships, they can tell banks they have to have certain amounts of cash, etc... all of which they have done.

On the matter of healthcare, government setting up a program that competes with private enterprise is a simple backdoor to the ultimate goal of "universal healthcare" like in Canada or Cuba. They can easily drive insurance companies out of business, especially once all small business owners start to realize that they can save a ton of money putting their employees in a govt program, instead of paying it out of pocket. I won't bore you with the details, but the way insurance works is by having a huge pool of people, and once you start taking out big chunks of that pool, its only a matter of time before it goes belly-up and everyone will be forced to join obamacare.

In regards to cap and trade, I'm all for cleaning up the planet, but not at the cost of huge increases to our energy bills with no net gain. Look up how cap and trade has worked in other countries: prices go up yet carbon emissions stay the same.
