I really enjoy these. Gives independent artists some exposure and gives them more to show prospective clients.

0:44 O.o whoa, looks like she stretched out her neck!

Still, very nice artwork all around. Quite a few non-anime-esque at this place (or maybe thats just whatcha focused on this time around), but all still very nice

I'm glad this time things were less manga focused. Don't get me wrong, I like manga, but having something different is appreciated.

Ooh, I love it when I get new webcomics to check out. x) And artists too, of course, though I admit I check them out more rarely.

And these always make me want to draw more which is great. *so lazy*

When I was at Anime Milwaukee, Doug mentioned that a lot of the artists (and attendees) were also at Daisho Con last November, and he already has a video with all those artists. I think he was focusing on the artists that weren't at that previous con.

Great that you're giving such amazing artists exposure to those who haven't yet seen their work. And I think I speak for everyone when I say your caricature looked pretty damn cool. NC in the anime world...."hilarity ensues?"

1:23- is this not for sale as a print? I want one :'(

I love this seris, When I'm at a convention I'm usually a little afraid to check out the artists alley stuff incase I dissapoint them by not buying anything. I'm also usually too shy to chat with them.
This is a great way to see what artist alleys are like without having to feel bad. lol

  • Yunadanta  - Carlations.net!

Just thought I'd post saying that its not Carlations.com but actually Carlations.net! Got somre real nice art work there for people to see so just wanted to fix the link since its abit wrong in the video.

Carlations.com is a unhosted site for sale so no point going there :P

that artwork is really great, I hope I will be as good as these people one day
granted, I think I already am better than one or two of them so I'm on a good way but I have a lot to improve and these videos help me get inspired and work harder on my own stuff

One thing though... don't get mad Doug but I'm really hoping for a change in the title card/title art design. You know what I mean. Thank you.

Three words: Alternative Press Expo. It's practically ALL artist alley and 9 out of 10 tables there are people doing stuff that's completely original. Come to San Francisco, Doug, it's freaking sweet!

There's an AWFUL lot of pictures of women in here Doug...an AWFUL lot.

    lol

    Not that you're biased.

But this is the first of your series that I have seen, so don't flame me when I ask: are they always about the anime style?

I graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Art & Design with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts. While there, almost every professor I had HATED anime style. They tried to tell us it is not art.

After seeing the vast spectrum of things considered art (Duchamp and his urinal included...for whatever reason), I still believe that anime is something of a style. Granted it is an overused style, but as a starting point for people to learn how to draw, and eventually develop their own style, I think it is a great thing.

And when one sees some of the pictures on here, how can they NOT call it art?

But then I see the ones that look like Scott Pilgrim, and those I have to say border on being doodles more than art. Not to say that doodles can't be art...but I am just rambling now, aren't I?

Anyway, I am glad that you are supporting the arts with an entire video series based on artists of all calibers and types. That gives me hope.

I'm really enjoying these artist alley videos you've been doing. You have a good eye for art and artists. Please continue this series as you go to more cons. It is really nice since I'm unable to attend cons myself often times and have a similar love of the artist alleys. I often recognize people you feature or at least their work. Many thanks.
