I claim that the comic WAS brilliant. Goofy at times, but brilliant. All that "science" stuff is in the comic as well, which I guess reflects the Silver Age style that the writer was paying tribute to.
I may try to watch the animated version at some point, but the voice acting in these clips doesn't inspire confidence.

Haven't seen it yet, but it looks like this movie dips a bit too much into the Silver Age. Not that I'm against that, it's just not my particular taste in Supes.

The Movie was horrible. They tried to fit too much content into a movie. It doesn't make any sense. It just abandons subplot after subplot. I could just imagine Superman yelling "SCIENCE!!!!!" as he dived into the Sun to "fix" it.

I saw Batman: Red Hood on Netflix and IT WAS AWESOME! I mean REALLY awesome!
I was surprised to see Jensen Ackles (I think I spelled his name right) doing a voice there. Yet... it worked so well.
And the fact that he's in it means I can sit down with my wife and watch it because she knows him from SuperNatural, which we both like. (I had to force her to sit down and watch Batman: Mask of the Phantasm when I learned she hadn't seen it, and it took some coaxing to do it too.)
Speaking of Jensen Ackles doing voicework, I wonder what it's going to be like seeing him dubbing his own animated self on the SuperNatural anime that's under production.
Edit: And now that I think about it... I need to see if they finally added Planet Hulk to the insta-queue yet.

Its an animated adaption of a grant morrison comic.
Honestly it does try to fit to much, and leaves out to much. If you dislike Grant Morrison, and his love of the silver age you will dislike this take on Superman.
But I enjoyed the movie, despite the breakneck pace and odd plotting. My father put it this way
"I enjoyed it but... it's like Oh two kryptonians took over the earth while superman was gone? Oh wait, never mind they are gone now"

It's weird that nobody has mentioned this, but Dwayne McDuffie, who helmed the script for this thing, died last Monday.
Kind of a shame the last thing we got from him was an adaptation of someone else's work. He also wrote the 'Epilogue' episode of JLU (among others), a bunch of Teen Titans eps, and gave us Static Shock. You know... "Super-hero, STATIC SHOCK! Super-hero, STATIC SHOCK!"

It was pretty faithful to the comic too.
The only thing I would change is Lex's voice, it wasn't bad. But there can be only one Lex, Clancy Brown.
