It's possible that Dr. Light and Dr. Wily have a Xavier/ Magneto type relationship; that they are very close in terms of kinship as well as ideology, and only a single point of contention separates the two factions, rather than any sort of mutual enmity. It would also explain why Dr. Wily seems equally incapable of finding and killing Dr. Light.

But if Mega Man had done that in the first game we wouldn't have gotten Mega Man II & III. He would have saved himself a lot of trouble though

You should play Mega Man 4. Right after you beat the wily machine and he tries to escape, use toad mans ability and you can literally obliterate him.

however this does hang the game ^^;

Eh... Not your best Welshy, you could've been more enthusiastic, give Wily a german accent maybe like in the cartoon next time.

Maybe this is just because I'm picky though, way too many sequels are right though.

heh at the end of Megaman 9, Megaman even tells Dr.Wily he beat his arse like 9 times already, wondering why the *** he keeps doing his criminal stuff.

Put anyone but Megaman in there, you're bound to have Dr.Wily with a bullethole in his forehead.

Come on, Welshy, it's a old-school video game, and applying logic to an old-school video game's plot is like applying salt to a slug.

Additionally, it's a Japanese game, and trying to apply logic to anything Japanese is like headbutting a brick wall.

I think he's programmed with Asimov's three laws, so he literally CAN'T choose kill a human. He even tried to do it in MM7, but he couldn't get his body to move and Bass had time to rescue Wily.

In the intro to Megaman X, doctor Light expresses his concern over how X's ability of free will will lead to the first law of robotics being broken. Since the Megaman X series is set within the same universe of the original man series in the distant future it is possible the laws of robotics applied to the original megaman series, though I don't remember if it was ever mentioned in game.

I was thinking the same thing except the X games aren't necessarily tied. Especially since in the original design Megaman might not even have been in the game.

The original games also never refer to them. And I doubt Wily's robots would have them. Megaman has a strong sense of justice, so it could be that they follow regular laws that everyone else does. Killing someone after they surrender is illegal in any context.
