I know this shouldn't be taken seriously but to attempt to actually define the entire genre of Japanese animation in 5 seconds is unfathomable.
This is mainly due in regards to the fact we would forget to mention those with a great story such as Ergo Proxy or Monster.
Perhaps I just don't get it, maybe that's why I don't think it's funny. Either way I'm just going to get flamed for having an honest opinion of indifference so I should probably just keep my internet mouth shut so as to avoid any unnecessary confrontation. :S

Honestly the only thing that really bugs is the fact that this is supposed to be anime in 5 seconds yet all we're given is a single comedy bit that doesn't really stand as a good demonstration for anime as whole.
And yes, I already said it, I know it's not supposed to be taken seriously; I just wished it had a different title, you know? :unsure:

It's just pointing out some over-used cliches found in anime to make 'the ultimate anime'. I could easily name five different manga titles for each scenario... (Okay, So truthfully I would have to search because I have long since forgotten the title names... but I have read them, and someone more obsessive than I would have remembered.)
It could have gone on to mention the ninjas, demons, the magical crystal, and how she dies but is brought back to life, but every anime cliche would take a looong time.
Anime and manga are full of wonderful, insane, and sometimes overused plot-points, but aren't all forms of media crammed full of cliches? (NC's new video is about his favorite cliche's)
Anime is just a little more 'special' by having things for cliché's that just sound so ridiculous out of context. Anime=Love

...but why would you expect serious analysis in a five second movies video? Don't you always click on those for a quick cheap joke? That's all this is.
This is a gag video, it's a throwaway, it's a quick jab. "But...Monster isn't like that! Fullmetal Alchemist isn't like that!" It's not an argument, guys, it's a "lolbutts" moment. I had to fill a slot this week and have been too busy to finish anything large-scale.
...I think this is why I tend to do serious review videos. The internet is very easily offended. Of COURSE all anime is not like what's in this video, just a significant portion of it. Every "in 5 seconds" movie is a generalization that doesn't really sum up the whole movie or whole subject as in some videos like this one. I actually did consider making the video "boobs and explosions!" but thought that would be lazier and not as funny. Apparently that's what people think is funnier so...my mistake?
...Come to think of it, I officially stop trying to be funny. :unsure: People just don't take to it well unless I'm mostly being super-analytical with a few jokes every once in a while. :D

No offense, really, but perhaps if there was a little less focus on the cliche story telling, and more on a description of what the Japanese animation genre is like and why it's special, I believe that would improve this lil' 5 second movie. OR, describe Japanese animation, and THEN use a clip of, say, Ikki Tousen or Queen's Blade (God,I think I really hate that show) to show that creators are wasting talent creating stupid stuff (sort of like this, but I think the build-up would have a better pay off). That's my suggestion, if there is ever a part two.
Still, I'll give you a "B+" for trying.

Honestly, looking again, I think this whole controversy revolves around the fact that I have not seen "Welcome to the NHK" nor have I watched animes with the cliches mentioned, so the whole joke becomes really lost to me and that's why I became confused. :confused:
I was just standing up for some animes that I really enjoy for their deep storyline.
By the way, it always sucks when someone tries to be funny but is not received well for it.
I think you're pretty funny, I just don't know the common cliches.
I should probably watch more anime so I can spot them.

Honestly... I think some people might be taking anime a little too seriously if they are upset by this. There are very clear trends and cliche plots when I comes to anime. It doesn't mean the series isn't good if it uses then--it just means that plot point has been used in other series before.
