So you reused the only good scene in the movie that was shown in every trailer. That guy is a good actor but he never should have been chosen for Holmes. Attitude is all wrong and the movie suffered from bad acting choices and a director who seemed to want to reinvent every character instead of actually having any semblance of the characters in his film.
Still a great choice for only 5 seconds.

02.12.2010 - 08:18 | KurvosWell, the new Sherlock Holmes movie is undoubtly a pile of rotten shit. It's a digrace to Sherlock Holmes in any sort of way. Only reason people can like it is because they are retards. Oh yeah, I just said that. Go ahead and rate me down. I don't give a shit. At least I am not the one pissing on the grave of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. How could anyone seriously think that this movie is anything above 0 of 10? Fuck you all who loves this movie. The author deserves better than this.

Mind not casting out so much bait?
Sure I got down voted for an unpopular opinion but you're attacking people who like what would have been a good enough movie on its own if they hadn't taken the names and a couple places from Sherlock Holmes.
If you never read any of the A.C.Doyle stories or watch anything made using the Holmes character before it can be just as enjoyable as most action movies.
I just don't like it personally because it doesn't have a single character that feels like the characters in the Doyle books.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the #1 reason I was down voted is because everyone knows this scene has been seen more than anything else to do with the movie and I just hung a lantern on it being a big wet blanket to how amusing the moment it's self is.
Edit:I think someone might even think I was suggesting it was the only good scene in the movie. But no I meant to say it was the only good one that was in every trailer for the movie. There are allot of other good scenes but I'm not going to say them because I don't want to do spoilers.
-
02.12.2010 - 16:56 | KurvosHehe... look at all those losers. I told them to rate me down, and so they did. They surely know how to obey orders, don't they? Now, rate this one down as well, you pack of fanboy losers.XD
-
You certainly know how to spew vitriol, don't you? Actually, almost every single thing from that movie was at least alluded to in one of the stories. BTW, Kurvos, anyone who says, "rate me down", then proceeds to gloat when they do is like being an asshole who goes around ridiculing people, then tells them to kick him in the balls, and subsequently says "haha! I made you do it! I'm the god! I'm the god!", i.e., an idiot.

02.12.2010 - 23:15 | MachActually, to my mind they got the character portrayals pretty close to what the good Sir Knight was gunning for. Holmes really is a substance-abusing, womanizing, arrogant, but frightfully intelligent person.
Granted, the movie dwelt too much upon his barely-referenced-in-the- written-works skills as a pugilist, but that was because they wanted more ACTION! For the jaded movie-going crowd.
To say that the movie was a "rotten piece of shit," as some are wont to do, is a disservice to what is actually a competently done movie. It's not perfect, because it would be impossible to do a perfect modern portrayal of Sherlock Holmes (doctor House still holds the title of "best" so far...I'm serious! xD), because everyone has a different idea of exactly what he ought to look like. He's a fictional character! Even Doyle didn't like him all that much toward the end and tried to kill him off!
In short, I liked the movie, I liked the original written works, I think that the movie is a fair translation into something that modern folks can connect with.

11.24.2012 - 06:29 | theseventhdoctor"Holmes really is a substance-abusing, womanizing, arrogant, but frightfully intelligent person."
Uhhhhh...... no he wasn't. You mighht be thinking of James Bond. Holmes injected himself with a 7% solution of cocaine when he had no case for a long time and could not bare the mental boredom. That was pretty much the extent of it (he even kicked it completely after a while).
Holme's "arrogance" is constantly overestimated, possibly because most people read "A Study in Scarlet" (which was retconned in several ways) first. In jsut about every story since then, Holmes is rarely arrogant, simply truthful about his talents as well as his limits and superiors. He simply tells it like it is.
As for womanizing, are we serious here? Holmes may have been a capable womaniser (as shown in one story where he gets engaged to get to a criminal) but other than that one example, he basically shows no hint of it. His interactions with women are strictly formal and he states that he does not trust them. He never acts flirtatious in the least.
The only thing that is really accurate here is that he was intelligent.

02.12.2010 - 16:31 | mr_rubinoGo back to your Basil Rathbone horse-crap and let those of us who can read enjoy the movie, instead of just paying lip-service to "some old British man" whose works you know jack about.

Can't understand the hate for this movie, I thought it was great! It wasn't perfect and the detective work seemed too hidden for the audience to figure out, but other than that I thought it was very entertaining. To me this movie makes Sherlock Holmes exciting the same way that the new Star Trek movie did for it's own franchise.
I actually find it bizarre that you'd see anything Yaoi about the movie as there is a constant female sexuality layered in the film. You pick out one scene and twist it, (I can't even imagine how you'd come up with that) and now certain people who choose not to think for themselves aren't going to see it... great (not a knock against you, but them). I've given all your videos 5 stars, but you lost me on this one. I hope you're not losing your touch like Doug seems to be lately.
-
02.12.2010 - 02:41 | TobiWan86oh come on guys that one was cheap.
take two scenes from the trailer, cut them poorly together and tada you have a 5 sec too bad to laugh about.
another kick in the balls of the legacy of good old 5 sec days.
I haven't read the books, but those who have say that this film is actually very close to the source material. So stop all the "this doesn't feel like S.H.!"-talk unless you have read the books, please!
P.S.: Funny video but we had better. But I still loe you benzaie!
I agree. I have read the books and the movie is VERY close to the source material
saying this is "yaoi fanfiction" is really just an attempt at being smart without actually doing any research
-
I loved this movie... Hmmm...
So did a friend of mine who's crazy into Holmes and recently portrayed him in a professional play. He said Holmes was portrayed very accurately and so was Watson. Not in the traditional sense, but accurate to the books.
Watson is always shown as bumbling and lucky when he get things right. He was actually a genius in his own right in the books.
By the way, it's over $11.00 to see a movie here in LA county.

02.12.2010 - 05:54 | Akane1412
I read the books, I watched older Sherlock Holmes series and the movie was so... poor when compared to it all.
He spent more time telling how to fight rather than think about a crime? That was a great wtf to me.
Plus, strangely the movie didn't have as much yaoi hints as any other material I've watched or read XD;
But this was a funny 5sec X3
-
02.12.2010 - 06:11 | SuperfantastischHaven't seen the movie yet but so far I've mostly been told that it's very close to the source material when it comes to Holmes and Watson's characters and relationship. Which equals slash fanfiction. Because people have great imagination when it comes to "heterosexual life partners." See Kirk and Spock.
-
02.12.2010 - 06:27 | DerenThis five second movie was so obvious that it's almost worthy of calling the editor sarcastically by "Holmes". :D (That's how good it is, you see.)

-
02.12.2010 - 07:32 | BlueroseThe only thing I didn't like about the movie was the case. It was so unspectacular.
Everything else was great, especially Jude Law as Watson.
Also, while many people say that it's far from canon, it's actually quite close. The writers merely concentrated a bit too heavily on this side of Holmes.
-
02.12.2010 - 07:59 | LufiaI have the entire collection of SH and the movie is actually pretty good.
I had to laugh at the Yaoi end part because I do have a friend whose into fan fiction, mostly focused in this area. So it was just funny to me in that way.
Not for or against fanfics. So long as it doesn't kill anyone, I'm okay. :P

02.12.2010 - 11:19 | NasikomanIf you really thought this movie was just terrible, I suggest that you go pull the stick out of your bottom and take some sleeping pills to wait out the pain. And if you absolutely must have THE Sherlock Holmes, just go read the books. Literacy! Is! FUN!

So I'm a pretty big Holmes fan having read most if not all the books and I have to say, the movie wasn't bad, I found myself pleasantly surprised when I discovered that they were actually very true to how the characters are portrayed in the books maybe not perfect but I found that what there was to complain about was actually Moriarity, he's of course a great character and I'm not complaining about his inclusion rather how they handled it, anyone who knows anything about Sherlock Holmes knew who he was the second he appeared but there were a lot of people in the theater where I saw the movie who had no idea who this guy was; so near the end of the movie they decide to exposit everything short of his life story, yeah that kinda took me out of the movie and could have been handled better, like waiting for the next movie which they will certainly have

I think our perception of Sherlock Holmes comes too much from that crappy TV show. This was actually pretty faithful to the Conan Doyle stories, particularly in their characterization of Holmes and Watson's relationship. Whether or not people like to hear it, there are actually a LOT of homoerotic overtones in the stories. Saying that there aren't is kind of like reading A Separate Peace and saying that Gene's fascination with Finny isn't the least bit sexual. Give me a break. Also, Holmes's character is very close in personality to that of the stories.

02.12.2010 - 12:54 | Ar7benzaie you're awsome as always i thought that too the fanfiction part i don't completly agree with the yaoi part, to be yaoi you have to have at least 3 scenes of really awkward and wierd hardcord sex ...even in a decent yaoi fanfiction..unless it was writen by a strait man....and that wouldn't happen
-
02.12.2010 - 14:37 | JeanJacketMuch as I loved the movie, the more realistic part of me has to somewhat agree with this... The relationship between Holmes and Watson was pretty close to how it's portrayed in the books and the better adaptations, but there were a few parts/lines that were just sort of "O HAI, SUBTEXT!"
tl;dr - LOL TRUFAX.

I haven't read the stories, but what you refer to as subliminal homosexuality might simply be a different social mentality of that time.
