I don't like the look Tim Burton used for this. I was hoping he'd make it more in the style of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, or Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
It looks too dark and plain, when the play was a nice disturbing mix of whimsy and macabre.

man sweeny todd is about more than sliting throats and gushing blood, its a love story and a story of dark revenge, and not to mention its fuckin kick ass!!!
