I like intense, to the point games like CoD, but I prefer the crazy wtf action of Halo. If you spend enough time to play a good game, you'll like it. I have Sony/CoD fanboy friends who never sat down to play Halo for more than 30 minutes and would trash-talk it every day but when they actually played some Halo 3 with me a little bit, they took it back and said it's good but they prefer modern war game action. Not saying you have any since I don't know you, but bias can rip you off of good entertainment sometimes.

But this left me in stitches. Having played all the Halo games (except this one) I should know better than anyone that you're absolutly right.
For what it's worth, I've always though Halo was a good series that was vastly over-hyped by a bunch of slavish fanboys. That in turn caused those for whom Halo "wasn't there thing" to despise it.
Oh well, now both sides hate me (possibly including you, Spoony). I'll get the game when it hits $20 and five star this right now.

I think it's a little longer than 3 hours, but you're right. I rented it and my brother and I are playing through it Co-op. It's fun, but very similar to Halo 3... In fact, it IS Halo 3, and I feel bad for those who actually decided to buy the game.
Though it did have some improvements, which I won't go into.
In short, it's a good game, but not worth the price.

I've never played a Halo game, but if there's one thing forums have taught me, that doesn't mean I can't comment on it. I'm sure Halo is a perfectly solid and well-made franchise, but I fail to see what's so amazing about it. The single-player seems very basic, and the story isn't that interesting. Sure the multiplayer is likely fun, but you only really need to buy one Halo game for that, so any additional games should all be about the campaign. Yes, I'm a Half-Life fanboy, but I can't help it. Everything about those games is so well thought out that the experience resonates with me much more. The episodes would apparently seem to last longer then the ODST campaign, and at a cheaper price. To be perfectly frank, I'm sure all the people who buy ODST already have Halo 3 and all the modes with it, and are essentially paying 60 dollars for a brief campaign and one new multiplayer mode. Everything else they'd already have. Buy Left 4 Dead 2!

Secondly, the multiplayer in each Halo game is VERY different, and it alone justifies the buy. Although ODST doesn't do this.
Finally, Half Life only has TWO games, and only ONE multiplayer, that was released on the side. What you're saying is that any source engine game is a copy pasta as well. And don't bring up L4D 2, it falls in the same bucket as ODST at the moment.
I love Valve btw.
