One day it will try to take over the world.

I found the Little Darlin' reference ironic since Boris Karloff performed his own version of the Diamonds song in skit for the Dinah Shore show. Five years before the Monster Mash was even released apperently!
Unlike the Bobby "Boris" Pickett version however, this one survives:

10.31.2012 - 14:32 | yarnhookerI thought that too! Not that his review is bad without him in it, I was just interested to see what Halloweenie would have done had he been in it.

10.30.2012 - 18:24 | Something Called GuenterI find it funny that you did a video on this mostly because my Social Dance teacher has taught us the dance. I'm tested on it next week. Love the One Hit Wonderland stuff by the way.

10.30.2012 - 18:29 | GoobianMonster Mash is definitely a great song. And he did live a full life. I love how he fully embraced why he was famous.

Great episode. Love these one hit wonders.

The last Halloween I remember being scared was when I dressed as a dalmatian puppy going trick-or-treating with my sister and baby sitter. We were headed to another house when one of the owners of it jumped out of a tree in a mask to scare us! He apologized and gave us extra candy for nearly traumatizing us but I always shined my flashlight into the treetops just to make sure it never happened again. It didn't but better safe than sorry.

I'm now a fan of Bobby Pickett's.
And you made me wish I were American, just so I could add such a song to my national patrimony.
Here's what we traditionnally listen to in France, with all the family... Jacques Higelin's Champagne - http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=bZq9VnDI2Co-
It is spooky, goofy, and a lot of fun too...
Merry Halloween to you all !

Not to be sacrilegious but the cover by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (Neil Innes who worked with Monty Python played piano) was better, and the fact that Tod missed it seems odd, didn't he fully check the history.
It's on the Album "Tadpoles"

I was looking for a song to play a Halloween episode of my podcast and Monster Mash was the first and only thing to come to mind, though I hadn't heard it in years. I had to google for more ideas.
I ended up using Mash, among others. I discovered that I loved the song very much.
Todd, you mean to tell me you can't stream on Netflix?
