Hearing Mues recite the lyrics was the best part XD

I like stylistic videos, but I can't stand Nicki Minaj. Her voice annoys me, and she loos so creepy whenever she opens her eyes really wide. And her lyrics are atrocious. However, I liked the fairy tale video, except for the...strobing effect? Anyway, it was interesting. I think the whole thing was based on Snow White and the guy that was trying to kill the girl was the huntman that the queen ordered to kill Snow White. That would also explain the villain in the mirror and the girl sleeping in the glass casket. But "The Boys" is what I expect from any Minaj video. So, I liked it best when you riffed on that video. Though I loved Muse comment on Nicki ripping off not only Gaga, but also Taylor Swift. I did not notice that. And yes, a love song "The Boy" is not.

Six was the best friend character on Blossom (gods I wish I didn't know that, the 90's were weird)

Well that second song and the accompanying music video were some utterly incomprehensible insanity right there...

Seemed like you were grasping at straws for things to complain about the "Va Va Voom" video so I tuned out. It's a music video, not a movie. It's not obligated to tell a coherent story. Simply combining various fairytale motifs as she sings and dances is enough to catch the eye and present the song, which is the purpose of such videos. Might have helped to have thought up more substantial criticisms before starting the camera rolling.

I think the reason why they were "grasping" at straws with "Va Va Voom" is because the video is filled with so much incomprehensible shit that their brains must have shut off. Plus the video is called "first impressions" not "Watch the video, think of ample critique material and then review it." It was meant to get their reactions to seeing it for the first time, live and unrehearsed.

I guess we have different definitions of "incomprehensible." There is some playful footage of Minaj enacting various fairy tale scenarios, which is made novel in part because she's black and blacks were not the usual stars of these European fairy tales. The contrast between the fable background and the gritty sexuality of what she's talking about in the lyrics is also interesting and amusing.

I don't find the video hard to understand at all, which is why I said "grasping at straws." Seemed like a couple of guys trying to fill air time by acting like they just got off the boat from clueless yokeltown. "Omigod, she's talking about being attracted to a guy who already has a girlfriend -- how weiirrrd and bizarre!"

Some one remind me again why Niki Minaj is popular? I was just as confused as you guys where. I feel dizzy trying to keep up with what's being said and going on in those videos. I'll need to check my IQ just to be safe, cause this is brain damaging levels of crap.

I always love seeing you two team up. You guys play off each other great and act like the best of friends. Hilarious as always! When Mues was reading the lyrics to "The Boys" I was laughing so hard and there's some clever lyricism in there, too bad she says it so damn fast in the song we can't understand what the hell she's saying. SLOW DOWN Niki, you're not vying for worlds fastest rapper....or are you? O.o
  • Blackdragon512k4  - AAAAH!
Va Va Voom was not an original fairy tale style! She took things from the 1980's movie 'Legend' and mixes in a little Snow White! The Boys looks like Willow Smith's Whip My Hair on acid with a style stolen from a Missy Elliot video!

I can't really stand Mues. I watched for the Rap Critic. Please, RC, don't make Mues a regular feature on your show.

Nicki Minaj acting weird? You guys act surprised, lol.

Also, what was up with Cassie's hair in that one part where she's wearing a suit jacket over her jugs? I know she's going for that androgynous look, but the green do just doesn't look right. Sorry girl, but you are no Annie Lennox. Also, her song 'Me & U' came out in 2006, not 2004. Minor nitpick, but I thought I'd just mention that.

The lyrics are really strange, even for Minaj. People will really buy anything these days, won't they? At first I had thought that Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was a rerelease of her previous album (much like Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster and Katy Perry's Teenage Dream: The Complete Confectionery), but upon researching it seems that it only shares a name, however then she released Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - the Re-Up, which is a rerelease of the second album with new tracks and additional features. How many Pink Friday albums does this woman need?

At least neither of these songs contain the lyric "boobs, boobs, boobs, lotta boobs". Did you know that BET banned the Stupid Hoe video? That's gotta be low when even BET refuses to air something.

Minaj has nothing on Chicago (the band). That band over forty years has released SIXTEEN SELF TITLED ALBUMS. And that's just the ones without subtitles and the format "Chicago " for the name, where X is a number. Including the albums with that format plus a subtitle, that number rises to twenty-two.

Oh yeah, and they include studio, live albums and compilations all into the same list, so you see the studio album list go "Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago, Chicago III..." along with similar interruptions later.

The video for Va Va Voom has a lot of references to the movie Legend. I'm realising this now since I've never watched it all the way through before.

Rap critic good video you should review a song by Royce Da 5'9, Tyler the Creater, or Trinidad James those would be great reviews
  • beezischillin
I second the Tyler review, but maybe he's too much to review without taking chances to offend someone.

Rap Critic, Mues, I like you guys. You're both entertaining, funny, and insightful. But very few people are good at being funny, entertaining, and insightful off the cuff. You need a script. Even George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Bill Hicks needed scripts. Sure, they probably did a lot of ad-libbing, but they had a solid foundation to jump off of and return to.

This was fun. I like eccentric women, but goodness Nicki there is suppose to be some sense to the madness. A pattern if you will in some way, shape, or from. You know what forget it. Forgot that the root of this is money & fame. Anyway good work guys, just work on it a bit. lookin forward to the next one.
  • Xephon0930  - Fuck Nikki!!!!
Just looking at her face makes me want to go Chris Brown on her ass. She is ghetto trash at its most extravagant and there are more talented people out there than this poor attempt at Lady Gaga.

That hunter isn't taking her virginity, he just really hates her music. "Finally, I can kill her." It's so funny just to picture her being stabbed and screaming when it's all just romance-y fantasy fulfillment, just ignore that part too.
Imagine that happening in a Taylor Swift video. "Oh romeo... why do you have that knife?" XD

If he's reading it aloud/quoting it, I think so. Rap Critic didn't comment on it and he's not exactly uneducated on race relations.

Anybody notice how Cassie was wearing the Kanye suit (only blue)?

Nicki really scares me, and I listen to heavy metal but FUCK she's just... not good to look at. She seems to be made pf plastic I can't seem to fit a skull to her head (I have a tendency to look at someone and see all the flesh and muscle peel away) her face is so misshaped! On the other hand, Cassie look WAY hotter, more natural. Also her hair really awesome!

Maybe you had to be a teenage girl in the 80s to notice that a lot of the Va Va Voom sets were directly taken from the movie "Legend." Even the black dress with the stupid collar was a callback to the Bride of Darkness/Absolute Cleavage gown. Unicorns running through the river? Yep. Stone cottage with a ridiculously overlaiden table? Yep.

Although say what you will about any other aspect of her career, Nicki Minaj can fill a bikini like nobody's business. I mean, her swinsuits have got to be made of reinforced Kevlar or something.

Wait, now she's dressed like Cyndi Lauper and she's brandishing a flamethrower. I fold.
