I think you guys play well off each other. I really would like to see You and Todd do a pop song.
  • SlyDante

Indeed! Now if only there was a pop song containing a rap section with extremely ridculous lyrics (on top of the already ridiculous lyrics) topping the Billboard charts right now, & one that was done by a female artist that at least 88% of Todd's watchers want to see him review anyway? Oh, where oh where could we find such a song...=P

NO! NO! NO NO NO NO NO! NO! NO! NO MORE OF THAT SONG! NO! I'M SICK OF THAT GOD FORSAKEN ABORTION OF A SONG! NO! DO NOT REVIEW!

I want to see Todd and Andre do Friday

Todd said on Twitter that he wasn't going to review Rebecca Black.

And besides, what kind of horrible person would wish such a fate on people they LIKE? Forcing them to listen to that black hole of music for a REVIEW????? I can't think of anything more torturous.
  • TragicGuineaPig

Besides, it isn't like reviewing Rebecca Black is beating a dead horse. No, it's more like taking a dead horse, grinding it to a pulp with a chainsaw, shoving a bazooka into its skull and firing, and THEN beating it.

Just let the song die in peace.

Nice job guys. I always liked this song, it's just so fun to listen to. I had never really paid attention to the lyrics before though. I kind of like it more now. Hope we do get to see another joint review form you two in the future. You work well together.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I was having a badish day and this review really cheered me up. Thanks for that.

Rap Critic and Todd in the same video?
    Doesn't get more awesome.

OK, to be fair, NC, Spoony, and Linkara in the same video was pretty awesome...but this is a close second.

This crossover had to happen and it did. Great job guys.

When I heard this song, I confused Rikrok and Shaggy, because Rikrok was in so much of the song, and Shaggy was credited as the main artist.

There was also a response song from the female perspective - "Son of a Bitch" by Lady Saw & Marsha. It even had the same beat. In that song, it seems that the guy's girlfriend thinks he's a tool, and she's not gonna take him back after he cheated on her.

Nice duo. Now if paw joins. Y'all could be the holy trinity of music reviewers on the site.

This song was my first intro to shaggy as well as Caribbean fusion pop music. Though I admit I never knew what in the hell shaggy was saying.

there is a typo when you got to the part "why didn't she believe me when i told her it wasn't me"

you typed "why she she believe me when i told her it wasn't me"

I remember boombastick from the Mt.Bean dancing to it.
Great review by the way. I'm interested to see what you'll review with Todd next time.
  • shibani2011
I've been waiting for this inevidable crossover for a while, and it didn't disappoint. Although I wouldn't have minded if you had picked song that you both had stronger opinions about. I felt that you were both a bit too blasé about it.

Anyway keep up the good work.

Why is Todd's voice flipping between mono and stereo? It's annoying.
  • TheObserver

Okay, that was officially awesome. Great crossover! Loved the editing.

Though the sound reconstruction... all I can think of was that some sort of VBR process went into the recording, probably an option left checked from when Todd was recording something else, like music.

Nice Review, I remember when this was big, it was everywhere. I'd actually forgotten about that final verse where Rickroll basically says Shaggy's advice is stupid, it like adds a whole other layer to the song maan.

You two should do more crossovers, I'd recomend a special on Arc Light, the guys the guys that made Friday by Rebecca Black. It's all crappy pop songs, with a cameo verse by journeyman rapper guys. They're basically tailor made for you two.

Though watch out, I think watching too many Arc Light music videos is a guaranteed place on some kind of sex offenders list.

aaah, this is so neat. I've wanted to see Todd and the Rap Critic collaborate for a while now, and (apart from a few little audio problems), they did leave up to the premise bigtime. I particularly enjoyed the reading-a-book running gag and the epiphany part!
  • bentleyml
That was an excellent video. Todd and Rap Critic work really well together. I'd love to see more videos collaborations between you two.

Great review! The beat was indeed nice, but the lyrics always annoyed me...And if the site I got the lyrics off of was any indication, it took EIGHT PEOPLE to decode Shaggy's parts. And even then, I'm still not sure they got it right...=P

Also, the same year we had Blu Cantrell's "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)", a song about a woman discovering her boyfriend was cheating on her, & then proceeded to get revenge in an equally questionable fashion...And on the Billboard Year-End chart, "Oops!" & "It Wasn't Me" were right next to each other. It's like two sides of the same story that got equal popularity...Kinda eerie. o_O

Great review, I was laughing hard when Todd dissapeared.

Haha, I love how Todd reacted to the Jamaican Patois lol, that takes some gettin used to to understand (and I'm no where near close enough to understandin that by ear)

I remember this song from when I was 9 years old. I remember when I first heard this again about a year ago how much of a nostalgic trip it was haha
  • Tactlesscat

...Are my headphones fucked up, or was Todd's sound completely unequalized.

I hope it's the former because that's just... ish guys. Just... damn. How do you fuck that up.

Although a better question WHY ARE YOU MIXING MONO SOUND WITH STEREO SOUND IN THE FIRST PLACE!
  • TwistedSpeech
Good review guys, I do have to correct you on one thing though. Beaner does not come from the baseball term used when someone is beaned with a baseball. It actually is far worse than that. It is a put down toward Mexicans because of their main food being rice and beans. So yeah, as fucked up as it is, that's where it actually derives from. Even Cheech & Chong made use of the word beaner in their film Cheech & Chong's Next Movie where Cheech, the Mexican of the two, came up with a tune called "Beaner". Anyway, I just thought I'd bring this to light. Great review otherwise. : )
  • Shadowdancer21b
    avatar
Actually, Cheech sang a song called "Mexican Americans" and Chong was inspired by the song to write "Beaners" said song's only lyrics being "Beaners" repeatedly until closing with "Are gonna kick you in the teeth."
  • TwistedSpeech
Now that I think of it you're right. However, what I said is true. It's a racial slur towards Mexicans because of what they eat in abundance in their foods, not because of how its used in a baseball game.

The song is nice to listen and the lyrics are pretty funny when you put that into perspective. I hope Todd & RC have another collaboration in the future.

Might I suggest "E.T." by Katy Perry feat. Kanye West for the next collaboration? I know Todd won't pass up a legitimate opportunity to make fun of Katy Perry and God knows Kanye West deserves a few lumps as well.

    Wait, wait, back up...

Why are you two arguing over who's been here as a music critic the longest?

You're both soundly beaten by Paw, who's been doing music reviews for this site at least a couple of years before either of you guys showed up.

Newbies should be arguing over who's the bigger kid on the block when the actual mainstay on music reviews has been here basically since the site started.
  • THOOM
    avatar
First, of all, it was a bit, so no offense should be taken by anyone.

And second, I think they were arguing over who's the first music critic on this site that people actually pay attention to...So Paw doesn't qualify.
  • Radelta
haha. I was about to post something just like Thoom's comment.

Yeah not to be a hater, but I dont think many people watch Paw. the only video of his I enjoyed was that music adventure game for pc he reviewed.

but on the other hand. the rap critic sucks too IMO. todd is the only interesting person on here talkin about music to me. opinions peeps

to elaborate more, sorry if I sound like a racist asshole, but I'm from baypoint, california. I grew up with a lot of black folks of different musical tastes, but they all shared similar qualities. andre is such a wanye brady ass motherfucker

I never actually clearly understood the lyrics to this song before (the parody "she gotta pee" was MUCH easier to understand) but it's actually not as bad as I thought. Of course when it came out I was in the middle of puberty and was too distracted by the giddy thrill of this guy's romantic conquest (like you said, it IS told like a penthouse letter) to really care about what the point was.
  • jbhill4

I would totally not mind seeing more crossovers with these two. Brilliant review!
