Dear God, Fred Jones is one of the Ghost Busters? Is there ANY cartoon that man hasn't been cast in?
-
02.18.2013 - 09:19 | Dragon_NexusHe was also the voice of Santa at the end of the episode too.
T-the cartoon...not the review.
-
12.05.2012 - 22:45 | starfall42Yep, JMS was the story editor for the first three seasons (pre-"Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters").
And yes, Frank Welker was Ray.. and Fred, and really has been in just about everything. IMDB shows 682 credits for him.

12.05.2012 - 23:03 | Malvolio21Speaking of great voice actors...
LOVED the Peter Venkman / Garfield in-joke.

I remember there was also a totally unrelated cartoon with a gorilla in it running at the same time under just plain old Ghostbusters.
I also remember that in the latter seasons Peter gets a voice upgrade (sounds more like Murray, less like Garfield), Janine gets a design & voice downgrade (sounds like Timmy Turner or Phil & Lil), & Slimer gets exponentially more annoying; basically becomes the Scooby Doo of the group.

12.06.2012 - 12:30 | KungFuManI actually agree with the raving man above me. Venkman and a lot of the other characters ended up with a downgrade as the show progressed. Didn't Janine end up oddly Russian-sounding later on?
And the other Ghostbusters cartoon is why this one's called "The Real Ghostbusters"...though both are pretty good.

I definitely remember this Christmas special, what sealed it for me was that in this take of "A Christmas Carol" the presented a AU in which what would have happened if Ebernezer Scrooge wasn't visited or had any moral effect from being visited by the Three Spirits.
Yeah, I noticed that out of all the Christmas Carol adaptations when it came to the size of the roast bird, the Crachet family in "A Muppet Christmas Carol" pretty much were blessed with a normal size Christmas goose. Sure it wasn't no huge-ass turkey, but at least it was big enough for them to share compared to the baby birds they were usually depicted with cooking.
Good video Phelous.

Yip. http://youtu.be/ Zi2QhG6Widk?t=5m48s (Take out the space.)
It's the entire point of the episode, so it's kinda a spoiler if you want to try and watch it.
SPOILERS START HERE!
The whole thing was done by the Ghosts to teach Venkman the true meaning of Christmas. You don't really think ghosts that powerful could be that easily contained, now do you?

Now this is a Phelous review I can put all my political weight behind in the next election.
Y'know,I think I'd rather live in a parallel dimention where a book called Christmas: Bah,Humbug is the #1 bestseller intead of one where 50 Shades of Gray is. Pretty sure the culture level is higher over there.
Goddamn,I forgot Janine was hot as Hell in the first season.

12.06.2012 - 07:16 | MHS325Hey Phelous I don't know if you've heard of this movie or ever considered doing a review of a movie called gingerdead man, the concept is pretty much Childs play (killer puts his soul into inanimate object) except it's stupid and instead of a doll it's a gingerbread man. It would be a perfect review

12.06.2012 - 07:56 | Shadowstorm87xSomehow I missed that episode back in the day and I really wish I didn't, because that was fantastically creative. And this video once more reminded me that Cartoons today really suck.

Finally I remember my favorite episode of the series.
Also this is one of my favorite reviews - you should definetely do more cartoons.

12.06.2012 - 19:23 | MalidictusHuh... I thought the Ghostbusters busting the ghosts of Christmas was a good thing. Guess I'm the only one SICK TO DEATH of remakes of A Christmas Carol, which I don't find to be a particularly good story to begin with.

My personal favourite Real Ghostbusters ep: "Night Game"
Some hilarious stuff, that Bill Murray/Lorenzo Music-Garfield/Venkman loop...and f**k Dave Coulier (who apparently got head from Alanis Morissette in a theatre)
*ViewMASTER
Btw, I just had to look up the VA who played scrooge here, turns out it was Peter Renaday aka TMNT's Splinter/Vernon and Grapple from Transformers

Boy, there's nothing like seeing Frank Welker being with Garfield's voice actor while he was still alive... and then take his place as Garfield in later productions after his death.
As Fred, that's kind of nice, but as Megatron, that's actually quite sinister.
Damn... thank... you, Frank Welker. I'm still wondering how you're still going considering how ancient you are.

Phelous reviewing my favourite show as a kid! This brought back a lot of happy memories for me.Although whoever said Dave Coulier was a better Venkman than Lorenzo Music needs to get lost!
I'd forgotten how dumb Ray was in the show, he was such a doofus! My favourite of the GB toys was my 'Fright' Ray whose hair jumped up and his ears popped out when you squeezed his arm!
Happy memories!

Wow, I don't remember this episode. Granted, I was so little when I saw the GhostBusters cartoon and movies. I loved them so much, and yet, I haven't since them since then. My little sister doesn't even remember them. I almost forgot about the cartoon until you mentioned them in your reviews. So this review made me so happy. I'm glad they made a great show for a great movie, when usually that doesn't happen. The voice acting was great. The writing was creative. And this review was hilarious. This was a really good episode and I loved your jokes in this. And you seemed more geeky than usual, which I find adorable. :) I loved when you were playing with your action figures. That's always fun. So yeah, thanks for the memories and laughs. :D

12.08.2012 - 01:48 | DisappearingBearsPhelous keeps throwing in the Nostalgia Critic's skull so that people keep asking about it in the comments.
Also, Ray's not really dumb--he's actually pretty brilliant, but he's also childish and overeager.
