You know what pisses me off the most? The fact that the movie gave the zombie an origin story. The Night of the Living Dead is about human interaction, and the zombies are a vehicle for that - they're almost secondary. We're not supposed to know why they're coming alive, because it DOESN'T FREAKING MATTER.
Way to miss the point of your own god damn movie, Russo.

This is a joke right?
Seriously, first 3D NotlD, and now this?
No, seriously this has got to be a joke. Like a bad "Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes Shocker Joke "Gone Wrong. I mean, seriously.
Oh, and you should have Lupa or MarzGurl or Roses as your companion ala Karen Gillan. Mmm, Karen Gillan.

Seriously, though not a big fan of the original, this bastardized re-release looks absolutely terrible. What was the point of making these new scenes or even redubbing and creating a new score for the movie? If they wanted to make it to more appealing for the younger generation to watch the old classic, they certainly failed. If anything they pushed people away from the movie. What were they thinking?

01.23.2011 - 01:46 | e33lafI just love how the priest has late 90's Boy Band style facial hair in what is supposed to be the late 60's.

Actually I thought that the Priest looked oddly like the guy who played Kain in the CNC games. Nice review Phelous, Who the freaking hell thought that would be good!?! And a Sequel.....REALLY!?! By the way...Thats the Third Doctors Sonic Screwdriver right? Oddly enough I got that one for Christmas....go figure. One more thing, nice use of the 2nd Doctor's intro, That was well done......UNLIKE THIS CRAPFEST OF A MOVIE!

01.23.2011 - 02:12 | Grafenburgwhat the hell was the point of this? you might as well just watch the original movie. It has better acting a better story, and it wouldnt have the stupid annoying priest. Don't even get me started on that priest. What does the fire of hell have to do with cremation? someone should just smack the shit out of the priest. Yeah of coarse you shouldnt spit on a rapist murderer, because clearly they should hold a lot of respect.
there wasnt even a burial. They didnt even dig the hole. By the the time the body gets to the cemetery there is already a 6ft hole waiting for the coffin.

I know. Dick maneuver on my part. Sorry man.
But am I the only one who thinks that the so-called preacher resembles Anton LaVey? From the Church of Satan? Would explain a lot, I think...
(Now I'm wondering if LaVey had a little dog named Mushu too!)

If the new scenes were made with any more effort than just giving a bunch of film students $800 to write and produce them in two weeks, I'd be very surprised and amused. Your scenes were so close in quality that it's literally not funny, if you hadn't turned up the sarcasm so high I could have mistaken you for an actual star in the movie.

So wait a minute. That loop music, which I thought wasn't that bad, the first zombie's rising from his coffin and the scenes with the priest were never in the original Night of the Living Dead?
...
THAT JUST BLOWS MY MIND!!?!?!? :O I saw this about seven or eight years ago and all this time I have thought I saw the original version from 1968! And what even more shocking I still thought it was one of the greatest horror films I've ever seen in my life! I didn't even have any problem with the priest as I just thought him to be one of those ordinary religious crazies these type of films sometimes have and therefore I found his ramblings amusing instead of annoying. And for me the ending added more depth to the film: is the zombie epidemic a mere virus or an actual divine punishment?
Now I just have to see does the original one work even better for me, although what I noticed from the clips in the review was the typical horror music of that time that doesn't follow any clear path, has no subtlety and which I just can't stand. If I've understood correctly the movie is public property so it's okay to watch it online for free, right?

01.23.2011 - 06:16 | andyflangeOMG... 'Children of the Living Dead' makes this movie look like the original 'Dawn of the Dead'... granted it was a student movie but even Tom Savini's presence couldn't make that pice of crap watchable... also... Abbot Hayes?!? WTF?!?!?! Don't do it to yourself Phelous!! lol
Also, why did this 'priest' not become a zombie after his little altercation? Aren't they the rules?? :/

I didn't really find a whole lot problems with this versions as it the copy we had when I first watched this movie. I guess sometimes people really do loss the plot and try too hard to add stuff when it's not necessary.

How many more basterdised versions of the 'Living Dead' series are there? Or do people actually think these are 'Improvements'?
Besides, why add modern elements to a classic horror film, when most modern horror films A) are completely differnt in tone, B) generally don't focus on social commentary and C) generally aren't that great?
It kinda removes the point of the film being a classic if it's a modernised version.
