I remembered hearing about a girl at Six Flags who got her feet sliced off by a broken line on one of those big drop rides... I dunno the gauge of that line that got her though. Can't imagine what that would be like... imagine you're at the park and the girl's just severed feet fall in front of you or something. Eeesh.

06.09.2010 - 23:04 | grusnoidI saw this Movie before. I never made the connection till I saw MST3K, but this is basically SoulTaker on a ship. All that's missing is Joe Estevez in a black robe, taking souls with a rubber ring. So I don't think that guy is getting his steak knives from Satan, and I'm not sure if he gets paid by the hour, or per soul. :D

I remember when this was released in my middle school days, there were some kids talking about in a good way, but thank god I was timid about modern horror at the time and didn't see this. You had me at "I'll fear dot com dot com your souls to the D1." Great reviews as always. And if you think this scurvey adventure was a whale of fail, there's always the ever campy Deep Blue Sea. Up to the challenge oh mighty Phelous, who subequently has the power to suck and steal souls.

This movie has particularly bad memories for me. I was forced to watch this movie in its entirety FOUR times because the brats I was babysitting kept asking to watch it again! The only reason I said yes: it was either this movie or Rob Schneider's "Hot Chick"!
To this day, I pity those children for they were brainwashed by their own MOTHER to believing "Ghost Ship" and "Hot Chick" are the zenith of children entertainment! :X

Probably because the "best of the best" don't usually go to bars to loudly proclaim their status every weekend.
Unprofessional jerks with an inflated sense of self-importance, on the other hand... Wait, did I accidentally just give the movie credit for something?
Kind of like that soul collector who decided that, after killing an entire cruise ship, the next logical step towards filling his quota was to lure four man salvage teams there one tug-boat at a time.

"So I got some guys to help me salvage that ghost ship, but after boarding they all immediately went off and did their own thing without following any procedures whatsoever, one of them turned up dead pretty early and they all immediately turned on each other, another guy got wasted after he found some old wine."
"Wow. So why did you hire them?"
"Because THEY'RE THE BEST!"

Yeah this movie was terrible. The flashback montage was the only thing decent, and even that was incredibly cheesy. Plus, the wire? In order for that to even be remotely possible, the wire would have had to be thinner than fishing line. And even then, it wouldn't have sliced clean through. It would have yanked the people along with it. Gotta love made up physics lol

Yeah this movie wasn't exactly the greatest. One of the things that bothers me the most was actually that wire situation. A wire that thin with the tension placed within the wire, and the threshold of the wire wouldn't be able to cut through so many people much less one. If it was able to do that then honestly that poses a big problem within our ships today. Now the wires that are much thicker, the ones that are on the battle ships. If one of those snaps hell yes it will take your body in half, but also fling the body parts into the distance too.
Great review. Lol for once you didn't, die....during? Yeah XD

WOw, you have the MB game in the background. I had that as a kid and never figured out how to play it. Always love your background Phelous.
Ghost Ship is pretty awful, and perfect fodder for you, sir. So much to just point out, it's like a kid in a candy store or a movie reviewer at a Roger Corman film marathon.

06.09.2010 - 23:39 | Sharpe34I don't mind the "Resident evil" laser wire so much, but the freakin boat was lost off of the coast of Labrador? What the hell is it doing in the Bering Sea? WTF?! Did the Ghosts JUMP over Canada to get to the Bering Sea? Sorry Phelous, just a plot hole the size of CANADA. Not EVEN going to say anything about jumping into Arctic water without dry-suits over and over and over again..cause we got a couple of so-so boobage shots from that at least. :woohoo:
Keep up the killer good reviews!

Yeah I remember seeing this movie because of the slicing part at the start. Too bad the rest was so disappointing and nonsensical.
I think the title should of been a sign how crappy this movie will be. I mean come on naming your movie Ghost Ship shows how much the movie writers knew the movie would suck. You don't see amazing horror movies like Jacob's Ladder named Psychological Horror or Visual Mindfuck. Well look on the bright side at least it wasn't called Boo Ship.

Isn't it funny how these ghost ship movies are always the same, and they always manage to suck? Each and every one of them. There's about 3 of those I can remember, one of them being "Lost voyage." If you didn't see that one, I'd say it probably sucks more than "ghost ship". Anyway, great review! Always love to see new stuff from you! :)
