im really starting to become a fan of yours Phelous, keep up the great work!
  • Thorbie
I think I'll actually do one better and say that I think as of Phelous's Silent Hill Shattered Memories review, that Phelous is probably my favorite reviewer on the site now. He's just so damn wacky and yet at times, extremely dry. Awesome review!
  • Panzermanathod
"I've got a Shotgun!" Just seems to always be funny.

Speaking of which, I don't know where you got that sound clip. I thought it was part of that one Biohazard opening song, but I didn't hear it there.
  • The_Comussar

    It's from Resident Evil 1
  • Panzermanathod
That I know, but I've yet to hear the song where the line if from.

I'm pretty sure it's in the opening, but it depends on your version of the game. I think it's the original version/PC version. I'm pretty sure the song was different in the "Director's Cut" edition of the game for PS1. (Just some disjointed piano solo, if I recall.)
  • Phelous

There's actually been 3 different songs used for the intro there. The "I've got a Shotgun" one was only used for the japanese "BIO HAZARD" release that I'm aware.

HEY! Not only have I seen this movie, but I have spent the batter half of my life trying to convince others that it exists!

    Hooray for affirmation! :woohoo:

I had heard about this movie before, awesome review.

Is there any chance that you are going to review "Gingerdead Man" or its sequel?
  • Phelous
    avatar
Oh I'd say there's a strong possibility of that at some point.

Anything that tries to make harmless things seem threatening sucks automatically bunnies, cats, mice, etc.

This movie reminds me of that "Black Sheep" horror film with the killer sheep.

Also, vampires were still a possibility if you ask me. Since when do bunnies crave human blood? I'm thinking that serum the scientist/cowboy made was distilled from suspicious sources.

Oh, how I have been waiting for this one. Christ, Whitman and Leigh were nominated for Oscars, of all things. Their agents dropped the ball. I have no video talent of my own, so we'll leave it to the pro to enlighten (or warn) the masses. Great job, Phelous, as always.

How can bunnies be scary? :D

Wow. Just wow. Star Trek, Bugs Bunny, Monty Python, and even a TMNT reference! This review was brilliant good sir. I laughed aloud early on when you had that dramatic music before Dr. McCoy said "I have a thought..."

A Bunnicula joke would have been perfect for this video. Have you ever heard of that series or read it?

Also, have you seen the episode of Bargain Bin Horror where Alex and Ice H review this? They're two guys from Germany who sit through terrible obscure horror movies like you do, and they're hilarious. You should definitely check 'em out. They have videos in the Blogs area and the new Community section.

Again, great review Phelous! (And yeah, it should have been Animality.)

Yep good review but I like the "Bargain Bin Horror"-Review of this movie better.

By the way, for all those guy who got interested, you can find their review here:

Ahh no I hadn't heard of Bunnicula before. It certainly sounds like it would have been quite fitting though darn, heh.

I haven't seen that but I'm going to check it out.

Wow, you burned through the rabbit references on this one. I think the only one you missed was Jade's Animality... but now I'm splitting hares! HAH HA! Ha... huh............ I'll go shoot myself now.
  • Phelous
    avatar
Yeah I though of including that but decided the mention of it was good enough.
It was actually Kitana's though, to split some more hares! :P

Who knew one movie could allow for so many jokes from Star Trek, Monty Python, and Bugs Bunny.
  • Disinformation  - re
You put a lot more effort ( effects, editing, references)in your review of The Night of the Lepus than the team of the Bargain Bin Horror in their former review and I appreciate that.

Your deconstruction of the Godzilla Joke(?) Thats a lot of Fish" worked very good.
    Thanks for sharing.

Great review! I am also surprised how seriously this movie took itself. It is based off a book called 'The Year of the Angry Rabbit', and that is suppose to be a satire.
  • Shmooglavoue
Excellent review. Although the premise was in of itself ridiculous, what ruined this movie for whomever was able to look past that was how nonchalant everybody was about the threat. Clearly the actors realized that nothing short of the greatest performance ever made could make these rabbits the least bit frightening.

Ah, if only they decided to go the corny route rather then the droning one. Then it would've been even funnier.

Night of the Lepus is one of my favorite movies ever when it comes to the sheer fun you can get out of a movie.
It is so hilariously bad on so many levels, and the fact that it takes itself way too serious makes it even better.
As Rabbi pointed out, we also made a review of Night of the Lepus, which you could find here should you ever look for it ;)

Haha indeed, it's amazing they thought they could make bunnys a serious killer. :D
Yeah, I'll have to check out your review for sure!

Bunnies dead from electricity in tracks...I gotta say that was "puts sunglasses on" a shocking moment.

    YAAAAAAAAAAA---
    that sucked I'm terribly sorry.

But in all seriousness, who thought this movie was a good idea? I mean...giant bunnies? now I can see if the bunnies were giant disfigured bunnies with razor sharp fangs Parasite Eve style but no, these are cute, sometimes move like puppets and roar like aliens type of bunnies, you can say It's more of a comedy than a horror movie. Thanks for the funny review Phelous "sniff" wherever you are....damn bunnies. BTW Loved the references and cartoon sound effects.
  • Torkuda
"You put a lot more effort ( effects, editing, references)in your review of The
Night of the Lepus than the team of the Bargain Bin Horror in their former
    review and I appreciate that."

I actually doubt he did. It's shorter, BB made a hell of a lot more references and displayed a good amount of research -they actually knew the facts about the news story presented in the beginning- and they're running jokes weren't their own inability to tell good jokes.

This was funny, but you don't need to beat down on someone elses work to say something nice.

Personally, I liked BB better but this gave me some good laughs. One thing BB missed making fun of was the lack on anyone ever being cut up, just covered in tomato juice. But hey, neither one of you pointed out that horrible bunny costume.

Sorry, this can't top the little girl murder count.

Ive raised rabbits and I can say they can indeed be vicious lol. Anyone here seen or read Watership Down??? Ive gotta find this movie. Ive wanted to watch it for some time now.
    good review man

You know watching this I called the What's Up Doc joke, but, I did think of a better joke for the rabbits on the electrified tracks. Oh and Deimos1984rd here is how you do.

Well Dr. McCoy I hope you prefer (put on the sunglasses) fried rabbit.

I noticed that Bargain Bin Horror has already done this movie, although I certainly enjoyed both your handlings. I'm kinda curious though...is it considered gauche to review a movie another critic has already done, or is it generally brushed off?
  • Thorbie
I know some of AVGN's reviews have overlapped with Spoony and the Nostalgia Critic, but I think they are different enough that it doesn't feel like a rip off or anything. Phelous and MikeJ overlapped on one of the Resident Evil Movies and went in different directions. Phelous and the CinemaSnob both did Troll 2 and the reviews were pretty different too. MarzGurl and Nostalgia Chick both did The Last Unicorn and went in different directions and completely different styles. Also many of LordKat's Until We Win game reviews are on games that AVGN has made a point of bashing, but in essence their videos and even the purpose of the videos are quite different with one being primarily funny and the other being primarily informative on how to play and beat it. I'd say that there's plenty of room for different interpretations on the same product, as long as there isn't any blatant plagiarism, a la Irate Gamer. We need to remember that the movies/games/comics don't belong to the reviewers, but the jokes and scripts do.

Aw, Phelous, how can you do a movie about blood thirsty bunny rabbits and not do a single Watership Down reference? :D
  • Phelous

Ahh, your right! I haven't seen that in forever so it wasn't in my mind at all. :P

    Great review, Phelous, great review.
Still, I was really expecting you to use "The rabbits are coming, hooray hooray" song from a certain Bugs Bunny cartoon.
Aside from that ball being dropped, really great use of clips. Keep up the funny work! *horrid screeching and guitars start* Aw damn, said the wrong thing!
(A chocky-chip cookie to the first to get that reference! :D )

I'll add the castaways singing "We're gonna have roast rabbit!" from the classic short "Wakiki Wabbit" when the bunnies were going to be roasted on the tracks. But still, after seeing the Bargain Bin Horror's review of this and yours as well, yours is definitely superior, Phelous. Keep it up!
