Love this commentary and honestly Paw, your list is what inspiried my own countdown of Underrated Disney songs. As for picking a favorite Disney movie. For me that's easy. It's Dumbo. Love this commentary and you should totally do a follow up or even Rosie, I would love to see your own underrated Disney songs list. Probably my favorite song on this list is Baby Mine. You guys are right though, it's hard to pick a favorite Disney movie or Disney song. Although, I don't if I would call it underrated but I always like Your Heart Will Lead You Home from The Tigger Movie.

I was so ridiculously excited when I first saw the original one and two of my favorite underrated movies, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, AND Sword in the Stone, were both included. (Even if I was sad most of the comments were "huh never heard of it") Plus the obligatory Robin Hood. *Points at username*
Edit: Oh, and Emperor's New Groove. Way up there on my list of not just underrated movies, but movies in general.

favorite disney movie? thats easy. anything from the mid 90's was their best stuff for boys. go back to the older stuff and it gets better for the girls. emperors new groove was the end of any of my involvement. that was when i noticed they were doing a lot of re-releaseing and their shows were kinda bland.
ah yes, back when bipolar genies and convict prodigal lion cubs gal-avanted into the sunset high on 90's heroine, those were the days...
yeah but disney in my opinion has become a lot like other corporations where they make business of robbing peter to pay paul and believe they can monitor the human heart with a pie chart.
the corporations are new and immature. please keep your hands out of the cage at all times!
corporations, please keep pounding those advertisements into our heads. nothing like depriving people of their freedom of thought to invoke positive public relations.
I'm spade and I just can't wait... till they fix everything...

I thoroughly enjoyed the top 9. By the end of it, I had the stinging knowlege that I loved these movies so much, but I don't have any of them in DVD format.
I'm having a hard time thinking of which ones I personally liked best, but "That's what makes the world go round" from Sword in the Stone and "One step ahead" from Aladdin are both pretty high on my list. Or would be, if I wrote one.

Alice in Wonderland also had the song Alice sings in the beginning, "World of my Own".
Then, let's not forget the two the Cheshire Cat had! The one that appeared in the movie, a musical rendition of the first stanza of The Jabberwocky, and the song that was cut, I'm Odd.
Totally some songs from Alice in Wonderland.
Oh yeah, the Unbirthday Song as well.

Great chemistry between you two.

=D I love the look on your face when you press play to continue the intro!
And my sister loved Robin Hood as a child, so we had to watch that all the time :P But I wanted to watch Bambi! :( Which doesn't have any songs, now that I think of it.. Does it? But I have to watch most old Disney-movies in Swedish or Finnish, so it's not the same thing, really. Lady and the Tramp is one of those movies I have to watch in English, though..
And PLEASE keep doing these videos, you're so awesome together! =)

Love Disney!!! Favorite ones for me are from Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. :D And I know people will call me a nerd when I say this but, I love them so much that I listen to the songs from both movies in Japanese. Yes, I know and sing them in Japanese. I know them in English I thought I'd learn them in another language for kicks. Their quite good in Japanese I have to say. Sorry, going on a tangent. Shutting up now.

Kroze, Rosie! Kroze! You're gonna be facepalming later. . .
Whether or not they were underrated, it was still a wonderful list Paw and it's nice to see attention brought to songs from movies made outside the "Renaissance".
Rosie, a good song that stands out from Alice, in my opinion is the "Caucus Race" song. To help you find good songs for your list, I recommend looking for the old Disney Sing-A-Long movies. Each movie is host by Ludvig von Drake (I think) and have about 4-5 songs from various movies and shows. The one I had growing up included "He's a Tramp" and "Colonel Hathi's March" - The Jungle Book.

Yey, more double commentary! Always a joy to hear from you two.
I think under the rader is maybe more appropriate. Songs from movies we know but may struggle to remember because one song stands out more in that movie.
Personal favourite for me is Out There, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is also my favourite Disney movie. I just love the way the song builds and builds. Also, the joy that Quasi has at just the notion to be outside just once.

05.31.2011 - 10:33 | Gamegirl24As a huge music fan, there is rarely a diseny song from all the classical movies that I don't enjoy listing to. They truly know what they're doing when it comes to writing the songs.
I confess I was a little disappointed that none of the songs from the hunchback of notre dame made it on the list. I find it was the most underrated disney soundtrack of all. It's songs are more adult and character/story driven, and with the latin chorus it helps giving it a very powerful tone. I truly think the music deserves more attention (except 'A guy like you'). But this was your list and I find you had a lot of great choices too. I haven't heard the song "Baby of mine" in a long time and that brought back a lot of memories.

I was super happy you put the electric light parade music on here, if you grew up in California chances are you get a serious nostalgic charge out of that. Unfortunately they are no longer doing the light parade at Disneyland, they sold the lights as souvenirs and replaced it with a more generic float parade with silly Disney channel style music. :P They keep cycling parades in and out because they haven't recaptured the magic yet. I think they'll figure it out eventually. They just have to get back to their roots.
If you ever do make it out to CA and you get to go to California Adventure you have to make a stop at the Animation Studio in the Hollywood backlot portion. Their main lobby is a gigantic room with enormous screens on the walls that play a beautifully synchronized combination of classic Disney songs, still shots, character sketches, and concept art from almost their entire repertoire of animated films. They just updated it to include Rapunzel and the pixar films. Here is a link to someone's youtube video so you can get a feel for it. This room is a nostalgic overload. (ignore the occasional crying baby) :

I have a soft spot for the music in Enchanted and Princess of the Frog. For some reason, the cheesy love songs like "True Love's Kiss" and "Never Knew I Needed" pop into my head.
Usually I'd fall back on Hunchback of Notre Dame, but that one seems to have gotten a big resurgence among adult fans. Even as a kid I adored the church song. Don't remember the title, but you had Esmerelda praying while most of the other people were being self-centered. Made a big impression on me as a kid.
