I thought your top 9 was okay, but there was so much plot and so little info on the composers themselves and you didn't really play much of their music. That was kinda shame. It was still nice to watch it.

    I agree!!!

I say, dude, this was an awesome thing to watch. If I had my awesome hat on, I would have tipped it to you, but sadly, I have lost it, so I tip my head to you, Paw 8)

Giga Gaia was the other part of the Dark Paw amalgamation at the end, who's the boss that you fight to free Balthasar from the floating mountain place in Chrono Trigger... ...Yeah, that was bugging me because I forgot where it was from too, so I had to look it up.

Nothing much else to add from the last time... I'm a little baffled at how you even managed to animate anything in Vegas, having looked at the program briefly. Definitely seems it'd have been far easier in my mind to have done it in Flash. Great job, again, regardless.

The shield at around 48:50 appears to be the charged form of the Rolling Shield weapon from Megaman X, recolored gold instead of blue.

Lots of interesting stuff in this one, it's rather amazing how stellar it all comes out. The amount of effort you must have put into it is staggering to imagine. I'm eager to see what you make next.

The laughter at the end was so cheezy that you could dip nacho's in it.

I've got to say Paw, all the effects you put in here are awesome and it's obvious the incredible amount of work you put into this.

    I've watched it like 8 times : D

And I will always stay for your credit sequences, I love seeing all the imagry in the background, especially in the Top 9 (New School)!

The video cuts off in the last minute, mid-sentence. Nice to hear a commentary for this anyway. Once again, great work!

"She grabbed her boobs for you, guys."
    Classic.

Loved the Top 9, loved the commentary. You rock, Paw.

Nice to hear your views on it. I still think this is the awesomest Top anything I've ever seen! =)
Oh, and: "Are you insane?!" -"Yes!" =D I so wanted to add a "Why?" In there.. Okay, not maybe for you.. But anyway =P
Thanks a lot for this =)

I KNEW IT! I knew the end music was a remix of Rising Sun from Seiken Densetsu! (aka. Final Fantasy Adventure for the GB) And I'm sorry, you did credit Big Giant Circles here. I was just confused because the game that was remixed wasn't mentioned in the credit sequence.

I am so glad you gave it a proper mention in the commentary track. And yes, your #1 was predictable, but I wouldn't have it any other way. You recounted these people very well and the incredible amount of work you put into it really paid off.

This is hands down, the most enjoyable Top list I have yet to see. :)

I kind of teared up (not actually cried, but teared up) in the final scenes with the Paws and the heroes celebrating. It was an awesome production (no pun intended) and you should be proud of this production.

I already commented on the actual video, but I'm glad you did this commentary as well. It was great to hear and hopefully it'll also bring more attention back to the video. I'll pass the link to your vid on facebook too.

Again, one of the most beautiful works I've ever seen. Bravo!

I love your work, Paw. I still think your King's Quest LP was one of the funniest things I've seen from TGWTG, Cinemassacre or TSE, and it made me grin to see you reference it in this extravaganza of your's.

By the way, I totally agree with your thoughts on credits sequences. I never feel like a movie is over until the credits end, and the music selection is almost always excellent enough to make me want to stay and listen to it. With video games, this is even more pronounced. I love the feeling of completing a good game and then watching the credits begin to roll. It's a pleasant feeling of satisfaction and - as you said - closure.

I stayed for the credits, Paw! Ever since I saw "MST3K: The Movie," I've always stayed during credits unless I'm watching with friends, because they don't always want to do the same...
It's almost too bad that Spoony couldn't be there for Uematsu just to say something about FFVIII, but I can see why that wouldn't work very well.

I think music is the one art form that is perfect. i think in that way it does a lot for destroying the falsities of life. everything has vibration.

John O Callaghan - take it all away
    Aly & fila - Everything

I'm spade and whatever, oops, what?

oh yeah, and mp3 players are the same as mixed tapes.

There is some video game music that you might not be familiar with, called Jet Force Gemini.

It's the "lost game", which is a child of Nintendo and Rare. The problem why we don't see it anymore is because Nintendo owns some rights and Rare (part of Microsoft) owns the rest... so neither can release anything of it.

At the time, this game was the best, most awesome, and kick-ass game ever! It also features some way awesome music. I really suggest you give it a try and lend your ear to it.

And if you already know it, bonus points to you :3

  • Grey Walker  - Amazing Video
Awesome video Paw! Amazed that you didn't use this in Flash. Story was pretty neat, and I loved the entire Third Act.

If you do plan on doing another one (and I hope you will) look up the program animget. It takes screenshots every 10 milliseconds if the image has changed at all. I've used it to rip sprties before. It works amazingly.
  • AmuroNT1  - A little help for the future
Love the video, of course. I know it's a little late, but you said you might do more with this format, so here goes anyway. I heard you commenting on how annoying and time-consuming the King's Quest portion was, so I thought I'd help out if I could. There's a program out there called SCI Resource Viewer (or just "SV") that lets you look through the resources of any game that uses the Sierra Creative Interpreter engine, including sounds, graphics, text, and so forth. If you do end up doing more Gameland videos, it should prove invaluable for pulling in stuff from the Sierra Quest metaseries (as long as it isn't later stuff like the 3D games, or the AGDI remakes).

I've got to say, I was disappointed you didn't even gave a nod to Jeremy Soule and Paul Anthony Romero. But I guess it is to be expected, since you're mostly a console gamer whose main experience with the PC is a few point-n-click adventurers (though I've also got to say it is a nice selection of adventurers).

The first is famous for his job in the Elder Scrolls saga, composing the fantastic Morrowind Theme, as well as a few Strategy ones, especially Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. But that's just scratching the surface, there's also Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale... the guy is a god in the PC crowd.

The later is famous mainly for his beyond incredible work in the TBS series of the Heroes of Might and Magic games (doing separate opera themes for each of each game's factions and terrain types matching perfectly the tone evoked by them) as well as later Might and Magic RPG titles, but also dabled in Everquest and Starcraft 2.
